What arch type would you recommend to a brand new player or is commander a format for the already enfranchised players

I think commander makes unique challenges so its good for both experience level of player. Arch type to start with? token would be the easiest and safest bet in my opinion. lots of types to do it with and who doesn't love a massive board?
