    What a disaster. I love it. Keep em coming

    I definitely prefer thin clients, but after seeing this “disaster“ 😂 I’m really feeling the need to go tinker. Kinda inspirational. So, thanks!

    i have that same board and similar CPUs, hehe. love the older xeons, even if they are toasty. Nice little video man, first one of yours i've watched. like your little rack set up as well!

      @ibanez3434  Před měsícem

      I'm much more proud of the rack than I am this monstrosity 😅. Those xeons were great, I had an X5670 in my gaming rig that I overclocked to around 4ghz. I could get higher but had very intermittent stability issues

    it's cool I can feel the radio magnetic radiation through the screen. good heater for winter.

    The ex datacenter tech in me is cringing hard but at the same time I love it. I'm finishing up rebuilding my proxmox server (going from an old Xeon to not so old Epyc), I know how much fun getting everything configured and working can be.

      Cringe is the correct response 😅, it was a ton of fun though!

    I'm confused, seems like a typical build to me... though more organized than usual.

    A real Frankenpc uses sh*t tier power supplies from mostly unknown/infamous manufactures. Like many Spaniards using Tacens and Nox ones (both are abominable).

    Now this is a fun looking machine, I enjoy the janky just works aesthetic of the system.
    I’m looking to do a similar thing but not to the same scale. I might pick up a first or second generation EPYC chip or one of the new AM5 EPYC chips but I have not decided what is the best course of action. (PCIE lanes vs speed/efficiency.)

    • @ibanez3434
      @ibanez3434  Před měsícem

      I've built some janky things over the years but I think this project is the clear winner 😂. Are you looking to use Unraid or maybe something like ProxMox?

    I’m really liked seeing your monster you created to be honest. It looks like it was fun to slap together. I have a tech Chanel myself and I’m trying to learn how to better use truenas scale or find a better alternative that’s free. I just want to know what’s a better option for a newbie. My goal is to have 2-3 14tb drives plus an nvme or two for cache and or storage and I’d like to have a few apps. I currently have a great wired network so bandwidth isn’t an issue but I’d like to find an easy solution. Should I just splurge and get a Synology that has thr hardware support ? Or I’ve got a z690 board with 48gb ddr5 and everything except a cpu ready to go. So all I’d have to do is buy like a 124$ 12600k or something to complete the rig and toss all my storage in it. For proof of concept I snapped one drive on a janky dual core i5 2nd gen and got it up n running tonight. It seems like a super basic os with a bit of a learning curve but I love the videos and features synology has but the unit I’d want is about 400$ or so and I currently have better hardware minus the cpu on that spare rig I mentioned. It’s just a spare rig with leftover parts really lol. Hopefully you have some input for me. Thanks man

      Unfortunately I don't have any experience with most of the things you listed there. I have a pretty basic setup and really haven't been doing many computer projects the last few years. Lego tends to take most of my time up 😅. I would recommend reaching out on a forum to see what folks have to say

    what a mess 😂 i’m in my mid 20s and just started experimenting with a home server and proxmox also partly thanks to hardware haven. This video is like seeing into the future!

      Not with GTX 770's 😅. I did use a ton of mining parts to build this though

    Looks a bit like my mining rigs back when bitcoins were around a dollar each. My setup was janky but I was mining 3 coins a day at one point. Of course, I didn't save any like an idiot because everyone I knew though I was being scammed so I stopped and sold everything... I'd be a Millionaire now loling at them, I mined a few hundred of them- stupid peer-pressure, they tell me now that I was right but that's worthless- oh well, I enjoy my life so I can't really complain too much.

    • @ibanez3434
      @ibanez3434  Před měsícem

      There are definitely a ton of mining parts in there, mining wasn't something I ever got into. I'm sure GTX 770's would be garbage at it anyway 😅

    would you consider doing some 2011-3 the Xeon e5 -v3/v4 series for server im running x5650 x2 48gb rab and proxmox and SSSSOOOOOO SSSLLLOOOOWWWWW

      @ibanez3434  Před měsícem

      Not at this time. I have a few computer projects planned for the future but nothing like this video. I learned a lot of valuable lessons but I don't really have the need to return to something like this

    this is so cool wtf
    the layers of cards remind me about the amd lap tour gamers nexus did :D
    how much of the project was hardware and how much software proportion wise?

    • @ibanez3434
      @ibanez3434  Před měsícem +2

      I'm definitely more comfortable with hardware than I am software but I had to learn a lot about software to get it all working. I probably spent a good deal more time making software tweaks than I did installing hardware. Along with MANY SpaceInvaderOne videos to help with troubleshooting
