Voltshot has a 6 second timer, so you have to use it before it runs out. As for forbearance, enhanced ambitious assassin, and enhanced chain reaction, you can hold those 2 shots in the chamber for as long as you want. Just use whatever works best for you
Voltshot hits harder on tougher enemies. You can shot swap doing more dps with a kinetic/heavy because of the perk. Chain reaction relies on enemies being close. Otherwise, it's a waste of a perk

I think this might be exceptional on arc hunter actually. Because Arc hunter gets amplified, specifically, from killing jolted targets. But not only that, once amplified, unlike the other classes, they increase their reload substantially. Which pairs exceptionally well with voltshot on a weapon that has slow reload.

Some of the highest damage, near invincibility whenever there are adds (which there are 95% of the time always adds in every encounter), add clear and champion stunning potential, super low ability cooldowns to the point where you can chain melee and dodge infinitely? I think they're both great options, and I like that people who don't raid have access to a really good arc wave frame. I'll be using crafted Forebearance unless I really need to jolt something.
The way I see it, Forbearance is PURE room clearing potential. Meanwhile, Undercurrent has more utility, and can be tinkered with to synergize more with a particular build. So ultimately it's up to what do you want at a particular moment: Do you want this room full of adds cleared in less than 5 seconds? Or do you want to spec into Arc and ability regen? Pick your poison.
imagine this, but as a solar wave frame with heal clip and incandescent. literally would be forb with 1 less mag but more synergistic/support oriented instead of 100% ad clear only (which it would still do very well

I've got Rewind Rounds/ Attrition Orbs on the new parabellum smg and it's actually great. 67% + 2 shots with rewind usually gets 2 Orbs a mag dump on a yellow bar. I wanted to see how the waveframe reacted with AO but I doubt it's worth it.

That almost certainly wouldn't do anything, chill clip requires a direct hit with the grenade projectile, the wave AoE would not work, we have an energy gl with chill clip in Lingering Dread from duality and it good because it's not a wave frame so you can actually direct hit with it and not lose anything unlike a wave frame where direct hits will just make the projectile bounce off the enemy and fall randomly on the floor causing the wave AoE to hit nothing 99% of the time

i have 3 adept undercurrents. demo-volt shot, lead to gold-volt shot, and field prep-volt shot. i like them personally very situational i prefer the versatility from it but forbearance kinda has had a place here for awhile. would be harder to put down but the versatility is worth while for me
Forebearance is and always be my baby for all things destiny. I spent so many hrs grinding my 5 patterns for it and I absolutely love it. It played so well with my act subclasses.

Exotic kinetic wave frame idea: Name: Spiral Tides 1st collumn perk: Volitile spiral-when damaging an opponent with the wave you apply a debuff that makes the target take 10 percent more damage from primary energy weapons that match your subclass. Exotic perk: breaking an opponent's shield spawns a spike from the wave that impales any targets that are hit and broken.(similar to suspend) They will be lifter off the ground. Targets on spikes will have bleed stacks applied to them that slowly leech health and prevent sheild recovery for 1-5 seconds from 1-5 stacks. Exotic catalyst: hold reload to make the weapon match your subclass for 5 seconds after 5 bleed stacks are applied to 3 seperate targets. 2nd catalyst idea: Allow the user to apply one debuff of thier choice matching thier respective subclass ex: jolt,supress,sever,scorch,slow After changing the firing mode to energy type.
Aegis also talked about this thing in depth and while my views are pretty similar to his video I will put my own spins in. Undercurrent does not directly compete realistically with forbearance. Chain reaction + ambi assassin + puesdo unrelenting puts forbearance far above this thing in terms of trash clear. But, and this is a big but. Undercurrent performs the endgame major killer + hybrid adclear role much better. Demo+volt is what I would go for on this thing and demo alone puts this thing in the equation. Demo on a waveframe that also has an aoe perk (albeit not my favourite one in the world) means you get a ridiculous amount of grenade energy returned. particularly noticeable after the energy generation mods were nerfed this patch. This thing serves as an alternative to forbearance when you don't just want raw adclearing speed but rather using it as a secondary support weapon for the rest of your build. as far as voltshot vs chain reaction goes I feel like most people would prefer chain reaction myself included.
@@justingovas415 But it does require you to get kills. Souldrinker on the Forbearance allows it to heal off hits specifically. So even if you don't kill anything you can get a chunk of healing back. You can get an equivalent situation with the Undercurrent if you use Stunning Recovery but it does make it exclusive to stunning champions.

You can absolutely do this with Forbearance as well, however because of Demolitionist this particular thing I'm about to mention synergizes better with Undercurrent...Strand Warlock, Mindspun Invocation aspect, consume shackle grenade and go to town with Undercurrent with Demolitionist and Voltshot. When you consume the shackle grenade it essentially adds a Strand Chain Reaction to the gun for like 25 or 30 seconds (something like that, it's actually quite a long time), the explosions on every kill do damage just like Chain Reaction but if anything survives that it will be suspended thus making easy clean-up, plus the Jolts from Voltshot for even more damage. Forbearance with Chain Reaction will stack with this as well (just like Voltshot does) but it won't have Demolitionist to easily regen your grenade for more consuming of the shackle grenade like Undercurrent does. I tried this, and it's really good; you can get your grenade back MEGA FAST with a Demo wave frame, most of the time I had my whole grenade back to consume again before the Mindspun Invocation timer even ended when consuming the first shackle grenade. Cool thing about this with Undercurrent: the Jolt will stun Overloads, but if there's ads around an Unstop and you hit the group with this set-up then those suspending explosions around the Unstop will stun him when they Suspend him as well as apply Jolt to him all at the same time, so this specific set-up could be used on 2 champion types although situationally. What's cool about both of these GL's is they both have healing origin traits, which is always useful and welcome. What we actually need is a Strand wave frame with Demo so I can do this same thing but pair it with Verity's Brow!!!!
as a christmas miracle, I got a demolitionist - voltshot drop of my very first one. The only thing i would change on it if i could was that i'd like a reload masterwork vs handling. Since i dont raid as a solo player, this was a nearly perfect drop for me.
I got crap rolls from the nightfall, but my very first focused engram from Zavala was a voltshot/demo roll with high velocity rounds and a reload masterwork, which is what I wanted. I didn't get quick launch in column 1, but I did get smart drift control, which is definitely the second-best perk available in column 1. I'd call it a 4.5/5 😁👍
@iggy8397 nice! There are only 2 perks in column 2, so you should have high velocity rounds there. The weapon starts with a base blast radius of 100, and none of the column 1 stuff helps with reload speed, so I just go for whatever improves handling/velocity there (without decreasing blast radius)
This thing is perfect for an arc 3.0 build. Especially on warlock. Demo voltshot is awesome. Better utility than forbearance for sure but maybe not the shear firepower
@@TJ_Sealegs My brother in the light, forbearance doesn't have any synergy with arc 3.0 except it being an arc waveframe, and now that another arc waveframe has entered the ring with actual perks that synergizes arc 3.0, things are gonna change especially with undercurrent being a nightfall weapon
Finally, someone who gets it. Arc 3.0 synergy is a big deal and forbearance lacking Voltshot does hurt it a bit. Obviously Forbearance is amazing but Voltshot has a bigger kill radius than chain reaction. Pair that with demo and now you have weapon with very strong add clear, significant nade regen, and most importantly it can stun Overload champions thanks to jolt from Voltshot. I've tested the undercurrent out, and while i like the forberance more i'm gonna use the undercurrent on my arc grenade hunter. I used forberance up until now, but undercurrent with demo+voltshot works so much better than forberance😅
Voltshot actually stays on the target for a few seconds after landing the first hit, allowing you to hit it multiple times and chain to other enemies more often, and do a lil bit more damage to the main target.
As someone who can't be bothered to do any raids anymore (unless they add another exotic like Conditianal Finality), this GL is pretty fun to use and a good substitute for forbearance.
I've been running this with an Armamentarium arc titan grenade focus build and the ability regen from all the traces is insane. The demo with voltshot is good BUT it still does not do as well as the AA with voltshot IMO. Sure you have to proc it with a kill, but once it's going you can put out 2 shots immediately with voltshot active and you have massive room clearing and arc traces everywhere. When paired with a double pulse grenade arc titan it's god tier. Give it a try.
I really like my demo/voltshot roll. It's a trade off. Overall I think forbearance is better at just flat out killing things But you can't go wrong with undercurrent, your not gonna have the raw kill power but you will have higher ability uptime with demo and will make more ionic traces with voltshot which will at the end of the day will play into a arc subclass better. And of coarse the niche ability to stun overloads is handy. I'll be alternating between my undercurrent and forbearance depending on what I need for the content.
Got pretty lucky with a demo + voltshot roll with ambitious as a secondary option. Ambitious is nice when doing some harder content as you can jolt big targets with the first shot and quickly follow it up with the second getting a nice chain reaction. Albeit the setup can be tiring. Demo feels fantastic as always coming from a warlock main. All in all its a solid pick and its the first wave frame I have enjoyed using in several seasons after getting bored of them. Additionally, just to comment on attrition orbs mentioned early in the video, parabellum has been great with it. It procs very often and I have been using it to keep restoration and devour builds going indefinitely with no thought necessary. That being said, the builds I run with these sacrifice some general utility to make this work. Specifically my voidlock is not taking advantage of volatile rounds but that's more-so an issue with the build itself (For anyone wondering it's a felwinters helm build because I tire of the meta exotics quickly and like to have some off-meta builds just for running general content like the seasonal activities and strikes) .
So i discovered that attrition orb is bugged for gl, cuz you can't currently create orbs but for one specific reason : I discovered that attrition orb isn't proc by sustained dmg, but it's proc basad of how much ammo you use on an enemy so i started testing(im not professional like you cross but i tried). I used the new riven trace rifle appentence that can roll with overflow and attrition orbs vs ne new pulse rifle scalar potential, and scalar potential is the best weapon to straight up farm orbs because of the smal mag and fast fire rate, cuz with enhanced overflow and 200+ ammo i only dropped one. That's the main reason to why undercurrent can't drop orbs. If someone knows more tell me.
chain reaction is superior at immediate ad clearing no doubt but voltshot's utility AND having demolitionist makes Undercurrent better in lots of ways. it takes 1 more shot before you start mass clearing ads but that's not a bad trade off considering voltshot stuns and also debuffs enemies. Undercurrent is arguably better in end game content for those reasons as well!
Got lucky and managed to snag a decent one one my first try, but I'd like to try to get a couple alternate rolls to try them out (and because the focusing cost is a tad steep). One day I'll get Forbearance and the other Vow weapons.
Given how many activities have champs in them, I do think there’s pretty good endgame PvE potential for Undercurrent. Truthfully I haven’t touched my crafted Forbearance in like a year because good buildcrafting lets you nuke a room of trash mobs a million different ways, but I am intrigued by having a wave frame with some anti-champ utility built-in. Probably worth a pickup for me just because of how nice Voltshot still is.
I haven't had a need to craft Forbearance since the only roll I've gotten is the ambi / cc roll. But, farming GM's is still kinda worth it this week since it's double loot rewards.
There was also a craftable single shot arc GL with voltshot from the season of defiance, but it's not a waveframe. Still available in the HELM, as are the activities for them. Can also get disorienting (blinding) on it. I like waveframes better, though, unless you're using the other types of GLs for blinding. I personally like forbearance more than undercurrent. Just still seems like a better add clearer than undercurrent. Plus, if you want the demo / voltshot god roll on the undercurrent (which I dont have yet), it's gonna take a lot of GM farming. 😑
My solo clear rewarded me with a Quick Launch/High Velocity/Lead or Demo/Voltshot/Reload MW roll. So my 6/6 lol. So far I’ve had fun with it. Is it better than Forbearance? Honestly, I don’t really care haha. I personally get bored using the same weapons over and over again for everything so having options is always welcome.
I'd say this is one weapon where being adept truly does not matter at all. You said yourself the stats don't matter on a waveframe. Waveframes are add clear weapons, which means adept big ones isn't relevant. Adept reload is the only one that would make a meaningful impact and it has such a high base reload speed that isn't really necessary.
I feel like with demo/volt undercurrent becomes a sidegrade to forbearance. Filling the role of worse ad clear for better damage to high health ads and champ stunning.
Once I realized that Voltshot only jolts the first enemy it hits I immediately junked my Lead from Gold + Voltshot roll. Nobody in their right mind would rely on Voltshot to stun overloads without having a backup, so what’s the point of it
Attrition Orbs is such a messy perk, but it is especially ASS on Undercurrent. It takes 10 hits/reloads if you are doing damage to only a single target. It is possible to generate an orb off red bars, but you need 10+ to get it. I tested in Shuro Chi and I got 15 kills in one wave and it generated there. You can get a combination of red bar hits and boss hits to lower the amount of reloads you have to perform, but it's like why? Like others, I thought it would be an interesting perk choice, but it's effectively a dead perk here. If you want an AO weapon I'd go with Parabellum to shit out orbs or a Caster frame like Chivalric Fire or Dragoncult Sickle for the heavy attack.
When voltshot is active, it can proc when shooting a boss or miniboss, which can lead to killing adds in a wide vicinity as it has great range. Cain Reaction only procs when you kill something meaning for boss and miniboss damage it is easy to fall short. Also voltshot stunning champions is also anti-bigboi shooting. Honestly to me Undercurrent is just a boss-miniboss-champion killer version compared to the adclear forbearance.
You are not taking into account titans have armamentariums. This gl with demo and volt shot with armamentarium is crazy good. Plus all the ionic traces. You constantly have 2 grenades to throw at once. Just as powerful as forbearance imo.
I will try to get it, I play solo and find difficult getting raid weapons even dungeon weapons. I really wish we got a strand chain reaction one and we could just have all 3 weapons strand. I like explosive personality with turnabout for the extra tankyness atm (would be great if they added chain or incandescent to that one 😔) and change it to the void one with destabilizing for more offensive.
Hero nightfalls have matchmaking and being adept is all but meaningless* for this. So there's really nothing to stop you. *As Cross mentioned the stats don't mean much so the extras from masterworking aren't relevant and the only adept mod that would make a difference is reload.
Seems like Warlocks synergize with almost every subclass. Been maiming Titan for years but I am heavily considering switching to a lock. PVE gods. Banner of war Titan gets tiring after awhile

Geomags is my 2nd build that I use. Possibly third build. Two titan builds come before it. Pyrogales with dragons breath and zaoulis bane with explosive payload and incandescent and synthoceps with Monte Carlo one two punch shotty on titan strand!
The argument of Undercurrent "can take advantage of adept mods" is a null argument since Forbearance can drop adept too. The thing that the crafted version of Forbearance has on the adept version is that enhanced Ambitious Assassin does increase reload (+5). Enhanced Chain Reaction says it increases inventory size, but breach loaded GLs don't get that buff (Unless it has changed recently). So, both can take advantage of adept mods. It is situational as to using Undercurrent or Forbearance. Do you want to do extra damage to a boss and kill adds along the way? Go Undercurrent. Do you just want a ton of add clear? Go Forbearance.
I want to add that voltshot has a way better range than chain reaction, almost double the range, though forbearance is good, i feel like if your using undercurrent to clear ads, voltshot is just going to be better due to the range
i had a buddy that got lucky with an ambition assassin voltshot on his first GM. he was saying the voltshot was proc-ing on all 3 shots after the first reload. i dont truely believe that and i kept arguing that a crafted roll is still better than RNG nightfall drop. if you cant craft it, then that sucks. either get lucky with secret chest on the opening of VoW once you get the first one (thats how i got mine. did the raid to unlock the weapon, and went in once per character per week and eventually got enough to craft) vs an RNG GM. which can be highly annoying. depending what you're using it for. i still think forbearance is slightly better. im an arc warlock main. i love my jolting pulse grenade, i know how good voltshot is, but from such a heavy RNG source isnt worth it. also, i love my explosive personally with disruption break, kinda wish it had incandescent though
I got a demo and voltshot roll on an adept version, as well as 5 others regular versions, and one other adept roll but I forgot about it once I got the demo volt roll
I got attrition orbs and it does not proc at all. I read the description for the perk on d2 foundry and it says it needs to hit the same target twice so I'm sure it only works on yellow bars or higher on higher level content
Basically if you want ionic traces in abundance, undercurrent is your weapon. Forbearance can do it too, just not as much. Or if you want your weapon to give you grenade energy with demolitionist, then undercurrent is the way again.
I was able to farm 30 of these this weekend... and exactly zero of them rolled with Voltshot. The odds are so low for this to happen that something has got to be bugged, or Voltshot does not have a 1/6 chance.
Managed to drop demo/volt shot on my first gm run, I haven’t gotten to use it yet but I couldn’t believe my luck… it looks like we’ve got a contender on our hands
One niche forbearance covers that undercurrent cant match is being able to use forbearance as a pocket full heal. Enhanced unrelenting + souldrinker saved my ass on plenty of master raids, gms, and solo flawless runs its crazy
I love raiding but I never got forbearance because Vow of the Disciple is just a raid I couldn’t get behind. I objectively understand why people love it but I have always despised that raid. Just really not enjoyable for me. Glad I have another good waveframe option now! :)
So you can bypass the issue that under current has by using demo to it’s full potential. Shoot, then use a nade to reload, then shoot again. Not hugely consistent, but it does help.
If this were Void, Stasis, or Strand I would have cared about this weapon. That being said, a good point you brought up Cross is they need to retroactively apply the adept raid weapon upgrade to all the other raids whose weapons are craftable.
Trying to argue which is better is kind of a waste because Forbearance is the best neutral waveframe but Undercurrent is the best arc build waveframe. If you don't want a special weapon that needs synergy; forbear if you want a special that works around build synergy; undercurrent
I'm happy with the wish version of forbearance honestly lol. I don't raid much. And in all the Vow pugs i've done, I've never gotten a single forbearance red border. Yes, I could use some harmonizers... but I usually save those for things i have 3/5 or 4/5 on that are irritating me lol. Now I have an option for a room clearing arc wave frame that I just have to grind a nightfall for. Even a non-adept one with demo/volt or stats for all/volt would be a nice addition to the collection. So yea... better than forbearance? No. More easily accessable? Absolutely. And giving me something to grind for in pve outside of the coil on a double loot week is just gravy :)
I managed to get one today, just the normal one, I dont have the light level, team or skill to get the adept one haha, already got like 1000 kills on it, love the thing, ive always had a soft spot for wave frames ever sine my martyrs retribution, didnt think i would find a BGL that would replace my salvo but this has.
Harsh language is the only wave frame GL, imo, that even comes close to Forbearance. Envious and Destablizing is the roll that looks directly at Forbearance.

I've got Rewind Rounds/ Attrition Orbs on the new parabellum smg and it's actually great. 67% + 2 shots with rewind usually gets 2 Orbs a mag dump on a yellow bar. I wanted to see how the waveframe reacted with AO but I doubt it's worth it.
I like healclip on that one. Its broken with the karnstein warlock build.
Imagine if it was a stasis waveframe that rolled with chillclip demo so it always slowed anyone it hit

That almost certainly wouldn't do anything, chill clip requires a direct hit with the grenade projectile, the wave AoE would not work, we have an energy gl with chill clip in Lingering Dread from duality and it good because it's not a wave frame so you can actually direct hit with it and not lose anything unlike a wave frame where direct hits will just make the projectile bounce off the enemy and fall randomly on the floor causing the wave AoE to hit nothing 99% of the time

i have 3 adept undercurrents. demo-volt shot, lead to gold-volt shot, and field prep-volt shot. i like them personally very situational i prefer the versatility from it but forbearance kinda has had a place here for awhile. would be harder to put down but the versatility is worth while for me
Forebearance is and always be my baby for all things destiny. I spent so many hrs grinding my 5 patterns for it and I absolutely love it. It played so well with my act subclasses.

Exotic kinetic wave frame idea:
Name: Spiral Tides
1st collumn perk:
Volitile spiral-when damaging an opponent with the wave you apply a debuff that makes the target take 10 percent more damage from primary energy weapons that match your subclass.
Exotic perk: breaking an opponent's shield spawns a spike from the wave that impales any targets that are hit and broken.(similar to suspend)
They will be lifter off the ground.
Targets on spikes will have bleed stacks applied to them that slowly leech health and prevent sheild recovery for 1-5 seconds from 1-5 stacks.
Exotic catalyst: hold reload to make the weapon match your subclass for 5 seconds after 5 bleed stacks are applied to 3 seperate targets.
2nd catalyst idea: Allow the user to apply one debuff of thier choice matching thier respective subclass ex: jolt,supress,sever,scorch,slow
After changing the firing mode to energy type.
Aegis also talked about this thing in depth and while my views are pretty similar to his video I will put my own spins in. Undercurrent does not directly compete realistically with forbearance. Chain reaction + ambi assassin + puesdo unrelenting puts forbearance far above this thing in terms of trash clear. But, and this is a big but. Undercurrent performs the endgame major killer + hybrid adclear role much better. Demo+volt is what I would go for on this thing and demo alone puts this thing in the equation. Demo on a waveframe that also has an aoe perk (albeit not my favourite one in the world) means you get a ridiculous amount of grenade energy returned. particularly noticeable after the energy generation mods were nerfed this patch. This thing serves as an alternative to forbearance when you don't just want raw adclearing speed but rather using it as a secondary support weapon for the rest of your build. as far as voltshot vs chain reaction goes I feel like most people would prefer chain reaction myself included.

@@justingovas415 But it does require you to get kills. Souldrinker on the Forbearance allows it to heal off hits specifically. So even if you don't kill anything you can get a chunk of healing back.
You can get an equivalent situation with the Undercurrent if you use Stunning Recovery but it does make it exclusive to stunning champions.

You can absolutely do this with Forbearance as well, however because of Demolitionist this particular thing I'm about to mention synergizes better with Undercurrent...Strand Warlock, Mindspun Invocation aspect, consume shackle grenade and go to town with Undercurrent with Demolitionist and Voltshot. When you consume the shackle grenade it essentially adds a Strand Chain Reaction to the gun for like 25 or 30 seconds (something like that, it's actually quite a long time), the explosions on every kill do damage just like Chain Reaction but if anything survives that it will be suspended thus making easy clean-up, plus the Jolts from Voltshot for even more damage. Forbearance with Chain Reaction will stack with this as well (just like Voltshot does) but it won't have Demolitionist to easily regen your grenade for more consuming of the shackle grenade like Undercurrent does. I tried this, and it's really good; you can get your grenade back MEGA FAST with a Demo wave frame, most of the time I had my whole grenade back to consume again before the Mindspun Invocation timer even ended when consuming the first shackle grenade. Cool thing about this with Undercurrent: the Jolt will stun Overloads, but if there's ads around an Unstop and you hit the group with this set-up then those suspending explosions around the Unstop will stun him when they Suspend him as well as apply Jolt to him all at the same time, so this specific set-up could be used on 2 champion types although situationally. What's cool about both of these GL's is they both have healing origin traits, which is always useful and welcome. What we actually need is a Strand wave frame with Demo so I can do this same thing but pair it with Verity's Brow!!!!
as a christmas miracle, I got a demolitionist - voltshot drop of my very first one. The only thing i would change on it if i could was that i'd like a reload masterwork vs handling. Since i dont raid as a solo player, this was a nearly perfect drop for me.
I got crap rolls from the nightfall, but my very first focused engram from Zavala was a voltshot/demo roll with high velocity rounds and a reload masterwork, which is what I wanted. I didn't get quick launch in column 1, but I did get smart drift control, which is definitely the second-best perk available in column 1. I'd call it a 4.5/5 😁👍

@iggy8397 nice! There are only 2 perks in column 2, so you should have high velocity rounds there. The weapon starts with a base blast radius of 100, and none of the column 1 stuff helps with reload speed, so I just go for whatever improves handling/velocity there (without decreasing blast radius)
I got one with stats4all and volt and another with ambi and one for all on my first GM run...
Considering I don't have forbear I'll take it.

This thing is perfect for an arc 3.0 build. Especially on warlock. Demo voltshot is awesome. Better utility than forbearance for sure but maybe not the shear firepower

Finally, someone who gets it. Arc 3.0 synergy is a big deal and forbearance lacking Voltshot does hurt it a bit. Obviously Forbearance is amazing but Voltshot has a bigger kill radius than chain reaction. Pair that with demo and now you have weapon with very strong add clear, significant nade regen, and most importantly it can stun Overload champions thanks to jolt from Voltshot. I've tested the undercurrent out, and while i like the forberance more i'm gonna use the undercurrent on my arc grenade hunter. I used forberance up until now, but undercurrent with demo+voltshot works so much better than forberance😅

Voltshot actually stays on the target for a few seconds after landing the first hit, allowing you to hit it multiple times and chain to other enemies more often, and do a lil bit more damage to the main target.
Wait does Voltshot proc stunning recovery? If so that could be pretty good.

As someone who can't be bothered to do any raids anymore (unless they add another exotic like Conditianal Finality), this GL is pretty fun to use and a good substitute for forbearance.
I've been running this with an Armamentarium arc titan grenade focus build and the ability regen from all the traces is insane. The demo with voltshot is good BUT it still does not do as well as the AA with voltshot IMO. Sure you have to proc it with a kill, but once it's going you can put out 2 shots immediately with voltshot active and you have massive room clearing and arc traces everywhere. When paired with a double pulse grenade arc titan it's god tier. Give it a try.

It's a trade off. Overall I think forbearance is better at just flat out killing things
But you can't go wrong with undercurrent, your not gonna have the raw kill power but you will have higher ability uptime with demo and will make more ionic traces with voltshot which will at the end of the day will play into a arc subclass better. And of coarse the niche ability to stun overloads is handy.
I'll be alternating between my undercurrent and forbearance depending on what I need for the content.

Got pretty lucky with a demo + voltshot roll with ambitious as a secondary option. Ambitious is nice when doing some harder content as you can jolt big targets with the first shot and quickly follow it up with the second getting a nice chain reaction. Albeit the setup can be tiring. Demo feels fantastic as always coming from a warlock main. All in all its a solid pick and its the first wave frame I have enjoyed using in several seasons after getting bored of them.
Additionally, just to comment on attrition orbs mentioned early in the video, parabellum has been great with it. It procs very often and I have been using it to keep restoration and devour builds going indefinitely with no thought necessary. That being said, the builds I run with these sacrifice some general utility to make this work. Specifically my voidlock is not taking advantage of volatile rounds but that's more-so an issue with the build itself (For anyone wondering it's a felwinters helm build because I tire of the meta exotics quickly and like to have some off-meta builds just for running general content like the seasonal activities and strikes) .
Is kinda cool but i wish we got a solar one with incadecent and maybe heal clip. That or a hatchling strand one

So i discovered that attrition orb is bugged for gl, cuz you can't currently create orbs but for one specific reason :
I discovered that attrition orb isn't proc by sustained dmg, but it's proc basad of how much ammo you use on an enemy so i started testing(im not professional like you cross but i tried). I used the new riven trace rifle appentence that can roll with overflow and attrition orbs vs ne new pulse rifle scalar potential, and scalar potential is the best weapon to straight up farm orbs because of the smal mag and fast fire rate, cuz with enhanced overflow and 200+ ammo i only dropped one. That's the main reason to why undercurrent can't drop orbs.
If someone knows more tell me.
chain reaction is superior at immediate ad clearing no doubt but voltshot's utility AND having demolitionist makes Undercurrent better in lots of ways. it takes 1 more shot before you start mass clearing ads but that's not a bad trade off considering voltshot stuns and also debuffs enemies. Undercurrent is arguably better in end game content for those reasons as well!

Got lucky and managed to snag a decent one one my first try, but I'd like to try to get a couple alternate rolls to try them out (and because the focusing cost is a tad steep). One day I'll get Forbearance and the other Vow weapons.

Given how many activities have champs in them, I do think there’s pretty good endgame PvE potential for Undercurrent. Truthfully I haven’t touched my crafted Forbearance in like a year because good buildcrafting lets you nuke a room of trash mobs a million different ways, but I am intrigued by having a wave frame with some anti-champ utility built-in. Probably worth a pickup for me just because of how nice Voltshot still is.
I haven't had a need to craft Forbearance since the only roll I've gotten is the ambi / cc roll. But, farming GM's is still kinda worth it this week since it's double loot rewards.
There was also a craftable single shot arc GL with voltshot from the season of defiance, but it's not a waveframe. Still available in the HELM, as are the activities for them. Can also get disorienting (blinding) on it. I like waveframes better, though, unless you're using the other types of GLs for blinding. I personally like forbearance more than undercurrent. Just still seems like a better add clearer than undercurrent. Plus, if you want the demo / voltshot god roll on the undercurrent (which I dont have yet), it's gonna take a lot of GM farming. 😑
My solo clear rewarded me with a Quick Launch/High Velocity/Lead or Demo/Voltshot/Reload MW roll. So my 6/6 lol.
So far I’ve had fun with it. Is it better than Forbearance? Honestly, I don’t really care haha. I personally get bored using the same weapons over and over again for everything so having options is always welcome.
I'd say this is one weapon where being adept truly does not matter at all.
You said yourself the stats don't matter on a waveframe. Waveframes are add clear weapons, which means adept big ones isn't relevant. Adept reload is the only one that would make a meaningful impact and it has such a high base reload speed that isn't really necessary.
I got a Demo Voltshot roll and it works really well with my Lucky Raspberry Hunter build. Both GLs are great and both are worth going for

Once I realized that Voltshot only jolts the first enemy it hits I immediately junked my Lead from Gold + Voltshot roll. Nobody in their right mind would rely on Voltshot to stun overloads without having a backup, so what’s the point of it
Attrition Orbs is such a messy perk, but it is especially ASS on Undercurrent. It takes 10 hits/reloads if you are doing damage to only a single target. It is possible to generate an orb off red bars, but you need 10+ to get it. I tested in Shuro Chi and I got 15 kills in one wave and it generated there. You can get a combination of red bar hits and boss hits to lower the amount of reloads you have to perform, but it's like why? Like others, I thought it would be an interesting perk choice, but it's effectively a dead perk here. If you want an AO weapon I'd go with Parabellum to shit out orbs or a Caster frame like Chivalric Fire or Dragoncult Sickle for the heavy attack.
Not everyone has Forbearance, so this is why it exists

When voltshot is active, it can proc when shooting a boss or miniboss, which can lead to killing adds in a wide vicinity as it has great range.
Cain Reaction only procs when you kill something meaning for boss and miniboss damage it is easy to fall short.
Also voltshot stunning champions is also anti-bigboi shooting.
Honestly to me Undercurrent is just a boss-miniboss-champion killer version compared to the adclear forbearance.
I got attrition orbs to test 3 kils was where it generated orb but had like a 20 to 30 sec cooldown for me before next orb was made
You are not taking into account titans have armamentariums. This gl with demo and volt shot with armamentarium is crazy good. Plus all the ionic traces. You constantly have 2 grenades to throw at once. Just as powerful as forbearance imo.
I will try to get it, I play solo and find difficult getting raid weapons even dungeon weapons. I really wish we got a strand chain reaction one and we could just have all 3 weapons strand. I like explosive personality with turnabout for the extra tankyness atm (would be great if they added chain or incandescent to that one 😔) and change it to the void one with destabilizing for more offensive.
Hero nightfalls have matchmaking and being adept is all but meaningless* for this. So there's really nothing to stop you.
*As Cross mentioned the stats don't mean much so the extras from masterworking aren't relevant and the only adept mod that would make a difference is reload.

Geomags is my 2nd build that I use. Possibly third build. Two titan builds come before it. Pyrogales with dragons breath and zaoulis bane with explosive payload and incandescent and synthoceps with Monte Carlo one two punch shotty on titan strand!
New pacific is my go to wave frame 3 shots before a reload , demo and adrenaline junkies and the origin trait .

The argument of Undercurrent "can take advantage of adept mods" is a null argument since Forbearance can drop adept too. The thing that the crafted version of Forbearance has on the adept version is that enhanced Ambitious Assassin does increase reload (+5). Enhanced Chain Reaction says it increases inventory size, but breach loaded GLs don't get that buff (Unless it has changed recently). So, both can take advantage of adept mods.
It is situational as to using Undercurrent or Forbearance. Do you want to do extra damage to a boss and kill adds along the way? Go Undercurrent. Do you just want a ton of add clear? Go Forbearance.

I want to add that voltshot has a way better range than chain reaction, almost double the range, though forbearance is good, i feel like if your using undercurrent to clear ads, voltshot is just going to be better due to the range
i had a buddy that got lucky with an ambition assassin voltshot on his first GM. he was saying the voltshot was proc-ing on all 3 shots after the first reload. i dont truely believe that and i kept arguing that a crafted roll is still better than RNG nightfall drop.
if you cant craft it, then that sucks. either get lucky with secret chest on the opening of VoW once you get the first one (thats how i got mine. did the raid to unlock the weapon, and went in once per character per week and eventually got enough to craft) vs an RNG GM. which can be highly annoying.
depending what you're using it for. i still think forbearance is slightly better. im an arc warlock main. i love my jolting pulse grenade, i know how good voltshot is, but from such a heavy RNG source isnt worth it.
also, i love my explosive personally with disruption break, kinda wish it had incandescent though

Basically if you want ionic traces in abundance, undercurrent is your weapon. Forbearance can do it too, just not as much. Or if you want your weapon to give you grenade energy with demolitionist, then undercurrent is the way again.
I was able to farm 30 of these this weekend... and exactly zero of them rolled with Voltshot. The odds are so low for this to happen that something has got to be bugged, or Voltshot does not have a 1/6 chance.
I greatly dislike the revamped LoS so I'll wait till it comes back around. Hopefully on an easier NF.

One niche forbearance covers that undercurrent cant match is being able to use forbearance as a pocket full heal. Enhanced unrelenting + souldrinker saved my ass on plenty of master raids, gms, and solo flawless runs its crazy

I love raiding but I never got forbearance because Vow of the Disciple is just a raid I couldn’t get behind. I objectively understand why people love it but I have always despised that raid. Just really not enjoyable for me. Glad I have another good waveframe option now! :)

So you can bypass the issue that under current has by using demo to it’s full potential. Shoot, then use a nade to reload, then shoot again. Not hugely consistent, but it does help.
Why not a stasis that acts like glazier grenades type of incandescent or strand that suspends, there are enough solar, arc, void GL already
Attrition orbs on the new sword is pretty good for boss damage. Giving people orbs for surge mods is pretty goated
Or you can use an actual damage perk and generate orbs other ways. If you aren't generating dozens of orbs casually, your build likely isn't good
If this were Void, Stasis, or Strand I would have cared about this weapon. That being said, a good point you brought up Cross is they need to retroactively apply the adept raid weapon upgrade to all the other raids whose weapons are craftable.

Trying to argue which is better is kind of a waste because Forbearance is the best neutral waveframe but Undercurrent is the best arc build waveframe.
If you don't want a special weapon that needs synergy; forbear
if you want a special that works around build synergy; undercurrent
I'm happy with the wish version of forbearance honestly lol.
I don't raid much. And in all the Vow pugs i've done, I've never gotten a single forbearance red border. Yes, I could use some harmonizers... but I usually save those for things i have 3/5 or 4/5 on that are irritating me lol.
Now I have an option for a room clearing arc wave frame that I just have to grind a nightfall for. Even a non-adept one with demo/volt or stats for all/volt would be a nice addition to the collection.
So yea... better than forbearance? No. More easily accessable? Absolutely.
And giving me something to grind for in pve outside of the coil on a double loot week is just gravy :)
I managed to get one today, just the normal one, I dont have the light level, team or skill to get the adept one haha, already got like 1000 kills on it, love the thing, ive always had a soft spot for wave frames ever sine my martyrs retribution, didnt think i would find a BGL that would replace my salvo but this has.

The intrinsic trait healing alone on forebearance is already awesome for an ad clear weapon, hard to compete
Harsh language is the only wave frame GL, imo, that even comes close to Forbearance. Envious and Destablizing is the roll that looks directly at Forbearance.
