    I've always wondered why did Kaminoan's Clone Rebellion failed miserably during the Empire when they are the military backbone of it.

    • @HylianSith920
      @HylianSith920 Před 3 lety +54

      I thought the main reasons were that 1. The Kaminoans that rebelled were a small group working on limited resources to clone a small army against the Empire's vast resources and logistics 2. The Empire brought Boba Fett along to know where to pierce their defenses and have a tactical advantage over them.
      There's probably a multitude of reasons more, but that's as best as I understood it.

    • @Jynx_Splatoon
      @Jynx_Splatoon Před 3 lety +32

      Remember, the clones were bred to be fanatical to the republic, (and this was before the inhibitor chips were introduced in the current canon) so when they converted to the empire, many of the clones supported it wholeheartedly.
      The kaminoans were making a small deployment of clones that were left/too young to be in the original clone wars, and weren’t introduced to imperial indoctrination yet.
      Many of the imperial clones saw this as something of an abomination, and brutally struck it down. (Again, in the EU, there was a lot less love between the clones and cloners, and there wasn’t a lot there to begin with.) I always imagined that some of the clones might have even secretly enjoyed it since the experience they had under the kaminoans was borderline torture.
      In addition to Boba, who was an unaltered version of Jango and therefore just as dangerous as his father, being the leader of the assault, its kind of easy to see how they would have brought kamino to its knees.
      (And the empire was slowly phasing out the aging troopers with natural born humans, so it wasn’t just only clone forces in the imperial army at that point)

    • @Linki8uu
      @Linki8uu Před 3 lety +3

      I think it was because the venator was a dedicated carrier rather than a attack ship like the star destroyers and the acclamator was never really meant to be put into a combat role and they mainly used fighters rather than trying to go in atmosphere at least this is my head cannon with cannon mixed in.

    I wish we'd get to see more of this in a game sometime. It would be amazing to see a very nitty-gritty, details oriented portrayal of planetary invasions and such. Not like a documentary or something but I want to get a good, in-depth view of every factor of a planetary invasion. Like jumping from person to person over the course of the battle as the campaign progresses; maybe being a naval officer or pilot in space, atmospheric pilot or ground recon (spotting or sabotaging AA installations and ground-based hangars, etc) or being infantry / armor in the ground phase. Games like Battlefront or Empire at War occasionally get into it, sure, but on Battlefront's case it kind of skips over the "realistic" parts in favor of being more arcadey and in Empire at War's case it's too broad in scope. RTS are great for showing the _idea_ of that kind of conflict but it's a bit too hands-off, I'd love an individual experience instead.
    I guess the best way to do it would be a tabletop game because the DM can be as specific or vague as they'd like, and that is a good solution, but one day I'd love to play an actual video game where there's fluid transition between space, air, and ground phases of total planetary campaign or campaigns. Mods for Arma are as close as I've seen so far but that has its own issues - Arma just isn't built for something like Star Wars so it can't *really* do space combat and it handles a lot of the vehicles and weapons poorly.

    Imperial Doctrine is glassing planets, bombardment, or with lesser opposition a few garrisons of Stormtroopers and one or two At-Ats. The Empire relied on rumors of superweapons, massive capital ships, and simple fear those units could show up. A few squads of Stormtroopers could hold undeveloped outer rim worlds simply by being there.
    The GAR while wartime soldiers, operated on restricting casualties, dealing with insurgents or hostiles, and securing allies and minor damage in the best case scenarios.

    I’m surprised something like the drop pods from Halo, Titanfall, and Warhammer weren’t used by the GAR, they wouldn’t be that hard to make and would easily be able to blitz the AA emplacements through sheer numbers. One drop pod for one squad, set up a consolidation point and assault point, and have the forward troops prepare the local HQ. that would make the ensuing air battle way faster and enable the ground battle to begin sooner.

      While the venator could match the munificent frigate two to one in space or the resurgent destroyers, they didn't have the capacity to take on providence class cruisers or battleships and certainly not the subjegator class battle cruisers. The Republic wouldn't be able to match the providence classes until almost the end of the war with the Victory I star destoryers and Imperial Star Destroyer prototypes. A Venator was primarily a carrier. While it was well armed it's main job was a fighter support carrier and troop carrier. In atmosphere shields are weaker and a single munificent can take on a venator in atmosphere given it has far more fire power. The draw back is all of the munificent's guns are on the underside of the ship.
      So really the venator was good at it's main role but rather poor at it's secondary role.

    Best Republic plan for conquering a planet:
    1. Send in a fleet and capture the orbitals.
    2. Use captured fleet in or it to destroy any visible air and ground forces (at least those not housed in civilian populations).
    3. Send in a Jedi strike team, say, a dozen knights/masters and padawans to capture Seperatist leaders. If a Jedi team isn't available, use Clone Commandos. Only engage in ground warfare if you have absolutely no other choice.
    In an age where controlling oribitals is possible, ground warfare is almost always suicidally stupid. The only exception to that rule is when you need to capture high value targets and even then special operations troops (like commandos or Jedi) will almost certainly be a far better choice than ground combat. Unless you need to take a large industrial center with minimum damage, or stomp out an indigenous, embedded guerilla group without massive civilian casualties, don't fight a ground war.

    Is it really worth it for the Republic to waste clones on technical and intendance tasks? The clone that guides the V-19 out of the hangar bay could carry a rifle. He probably received the same training as the others and has the same talent for war. Any other life form could do just as efficiently his task. On the other end, the wonderful cooperation of clones means that any supplementary clone is crucial to the army.

    One of the Jedi many flaws was the fact they were trained to be peacekeepers not soldiers, if the Clone army had been cloned from a minor Jedi with military training and the power of the force at their disposal, I expect there would of been less casualties on their side but if the Jedi order had included military training as apart of their education, things might of been somewhat different, thou the future Emperor would of likely let the war drag on even longer or at least until nearly every major Master was off world and with their troops before issuing the command that destroyed the order, I expect he had a nice cackle about it after sending out the message!

    How about a Generic version of Planetary invasions? Lets say Earth was able to develop & utilize FTL technology, but our mapping of the Milky Way is slow, so we’ve expanded through Warp like propulsion and only engaged the straight shot hyperdrive for return trips & redeployment to already established positions. Eventually, we come across a planet that is already inhabited, but we can’t seem to come to a peaceful resolution, so we engage in gunship diplomacy, which is invade, take civilians as hostages (ancient empire’s versions, not the more criminalized versions), and in due time force a surrender to any & all resistance and begin a peace building process. How should planetary invasions specifically happen starting with the least likely, but still potentially possible setting followed by more possible situations/scenarios in regards to how advanced life can get & such…

    Why didn't the empire adopted the technology of the separatist?
    The rockets were probably one of the most useful weapons choice against the small ships of the rebels and Droid fighters are pretty cheap. I get that the empire wanted a "volunteer force of human soldires" but why not use them as supplements to droid fighters?

    Looked over how planetary invasions go I can already tell that the Jedi suck at it.
    No form of scouting of any kind for AA placements that could destroy said dropships or carriers. Just load all dropships and send them into flack and hope what survived will provide them a victory.
    You'd think they would slip in a Commando Team to scout out the ground forces while taking care of any of the AA that the Air assault picked up.

      At the beginning off the war, most of the highly skilled officers were in fact aligned with the confederacy. Many of them were veterans of smaller scale conflicts. Or were mercenaries for hire.
      The republic did have various planetary defense forces to chose from however. And the Anaxes war college did churn out many officers over its history. I'm sure the republic could field a good number of commanders in short succession.
      But we must remember, no one had fought a galactic scale conflict in over a millennium. So tactics and strategies might not be as great as they should.
