    I got the bag for £80 from a surplus site. Normally I use a 50l Osprey pack for an all rounder, but the Berghaus is great when you are camping with the kids and tents, sleeping bags etc have to be carried.

    What a beautiful forest! I'd love to hike there
    Also thanks for the great review. Showing the closeups of the bag and the wider shots too is missing from a lot of reviews, but it's helpful for getting a feel for the bag.

    Hi Wooly. I was looking for a new ruc and having seen your video went and purchased a new one for £260. Crickey what a beast of a bag. I had my old ruc packed for an overnighter and just for a laugh tried to fit in in the new one. Just dropped straight in with room to spare. Every bit of gear i've got fits inside without even using the two side packs. Ample room to grow, feels really comfortable to wear endless adjustments to get it tight to your back and no movement from the kit inside. Thanks for the video and love the content.

    My Molle Medium military ruck is at 50L plus the side bags at about 7 each… so 64L works great both seasons for me. Although at winter I have it stuffed to the gills if I am not pulling my sled. I think a 70-75L would be my ideal!

    I font know if an all rounder bag exists. A smaller bag for summer and a monster for winter, it's great your testing these things for us.

    I thought the Ruck Test was a podcast about the Rugby world cup - turns out it's some hairy guy going on about Berghaus rucksacks - which is grand, cos I like that kinda thing.

    Good vid. My concern is the material used in the Crusader construction. The old British PLCE bergen was made of 1000 Denier nylon. From what I glaned from Varusteleka's website about this Berghaus item, the bag is made in Asia and is not 1000 denier cordura.

    • @RedBranchBushcraft
      @RedBranchBushcraft  Před 10 měsíci

      As far as I'm aware it's not cordura but something called Amradura 1000D , sounds very similar , I tried to find the difference but couldn't find any info, I know that cordura is a brand name , might be same thing different name

      @Nofixedabode859 Před 10 měsíci +1

      There a 1000 denier type of cordura m8 I’ve had Vulcan and centurio and there just as tough as plce, the plce was designed by berghaus

    Is it really a proper test if it isn't raining like that? Nice review, some good points, eg, too big for all-rounder.
    Definitely looks to be the bag for taking the house with you when camping though.

  • @Nofixedabode859
    @Nofixedabode859 Před 10 měsíci +1

    Woolly upto know what’s the Bergen of your dreams, I’m all for going smaller but I love the crusader, the recon nice but not keen on frames the Spartan 60 would probably be the ideal alrounder but can u get your winter kit in it?

    when you say its too big, you mean for solo bushcrafter? im thinking of getting it as one bag for 2 people.. me and my bro. idk what to do tho. looking at 45-90 liter bags and man i cant decide. cant even try them out bc they there is no official retailer fort them where i come from....

    • @RedBranchBushcraft
      @RedBranchBushcraft  Před 2 měsíci

      I was the same, a 90 litre bag is really big, ungainly for me as little fella, 60 - 70 that's expandable is much better for me

      @@RedBranchBushcraft i went up and bought the berghaus 90+20 after watching probably all of your videos! I never plan on going alone so if 60l is enough for you i think 110 would be great for 2-3.
      I got the fa version from varustaleka, just got it and its a damn tank!
      I also got the m05 carinthia sleeping bag, again after watching all your videos with it.
      I intend to use them in camping activities but theres a war going on my country and im a combat medic in the reserve and so that gear might see some military use..
      by the way, can you somehow trace down that compression dry bag youre using? It looks so nice, seems to compress your sleeping bag so well and so fast, i gotta get one myself!

    • @RedBranchBushcraft
      @RedBranchBushcraft  Před měsícem

      @@razbiton173 thats some class gear right there! its a nothing special 40 litre dry bag, anything should work the same once its light weight. you have two options, get a light weight one or try and get one with a valve on it to let out air, 40 litres should be good
