LoL. Found you guys from reddit and reviewing the peking duck place.
Congrats on the engagement. We're AMWF, she's Irish/Scottish Canadian and married since 2001. If you're thinking about kids, be thankful you didn't have them when Jon & Kate plus their 8 were on TV.
Dating within your own culture back in the early 90s, my experience as a CBC, there was a lot of cultural identity issues. I wasn't or I was too Chinese for them. HK or mainlanders were in their own cultural clique.

And yes - times have definitely changed. As we mentioned in the video, definitely very grateful to be living in Canada in such an open multicultural environment.

To be fair, I think you are seeing a lot more Russian and Chinese couples simply due to the geographic proximity of both regions. But yeah, you will often see interracial couples on the streets if you live in a city like Toronto because it's so ethnically diverse. Don't think you can completely generalize that to everywhere in Canada because most of the small towns tend to be 90+% Caucasian.

Will and Liza said that they received lots of stares in Russia, because amwf is rare over there.

The part where you guys distinguished that in a AMWF, the WF or White partner in general will be used to explicit communications which are more direct eg in the form of words for instance and that the AM, or Asian partner in general will be used to having communication dynamics involving just reading into a person's general actions, physical actions, body language and aura which can express multiple things at the same time without a single word being said. Kudos on articulating that! I'm a 32AM CBC (Canadian Born Chinese, also from Toronto) and "personality wise the way I articulate is rather quote unquote "white" without connotation, and culturally I'm inspired by all cultures. So from my perspective, it's great to see a AMWF like yourselves articulating your dynamic and identity to the world!
    Peace and love, Will

Haha, I'm in a AMWF marriage, we visited China in 2016 and *we* got stared at a lot in the city. Whereas my wife got stared at in the country sides a lot. I think they were trying to figure out what kind of Asian I am in Beijing and why I spoke English only, and of course white girl is gonna get stared at and have her photo taken by people who don't see white folks a lot haha.

What I’ve found is because of the Russian war most Russians love Chinese people. I actually have visited Russia many many times. And I don’t find they are racist at all. Maybe with other nationalities. But Russian girls love Asian men
And more so now with the war going on.
We have this running joke with my wife’s family where I claim our daughter is Chinese and they would say “nyet! Ona russki!”
Probably helps I also speak Russian.

I am Taiwanese and my Russian ex-girlfriend's was from uzbekistan but immigrated to Israel and now moved here to Canada. They treated me like shit and very racist people. I was shocked when they told me that Canada should keep it white. There are definitely nice Russians out there but most of the Russians I met are not as open-minded. Will is a lucky guy

Is this a big thing in Canada? So many Asian and white couples here in Australia. I’m Chinese Australian. My first wife was Persian
My current wife is also Russian. No one bats an eyelid at “interracial” couples here
Both of my daughters are super cute. Mixed race babies usually are.

There's only one race -- the human race. Our various looks, builds and skin tones are a result of generations of varying degree of 'mixing' and 'sticking to one clan' amongst our various tribes. Whether one realises it or not, we ALL marry our distant cousins!

I was born in Novosibirsk, Russia, but my family moved around a lot when I was younger. We spent a number of years in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
I have never lived in the States, so can't really comment on racial tolerance and intolerance there.
