These jugalbandhis are always tricky. First you have the difference between the two flutes, bansuri vs Carnatic flute. The bansuri, being lower frequency and closer to the tambura shruti, is easier to align to the sruti immediately. The Carnatic flute always takes a little more time. Then there is the volume difference between the two. Higher frequency flutes also require more breathing effort. Secondly, there is the difference in approach in both systems. In the Hindustani style, the alap invariably starts at a slow meditative pace and the speed builds up. The Carnatic approach is more flexible and it is up to the musicians. It can start with a flash and then calm down, or the pace can change several times as new ideas are being brought forth. Unless the jugalbandhi is done very carefully, taking into account these differences, it can be like mixing oil and water. Shashank's flute tone does seem somewhat subdued, especially at the higher pitches where it sounds rather thin. This comment may, however, be unfair. Shashank normally plays at something close to C#. Here he is accommodating to Rakesh's E shruthi and therefore maybe not using his best flutes.
Thank you so much for that I learnt few new things abt Carnatic style. But one point I want to mention that Shashank ji are learning north indian classical music from Pt. Jasraj ji, so considering this , we can say that they are much comfortable now to collaborate with Pt Rakesh ji. 🙂
Mesmerizing performance by both legends 👌👌👌👌👌 Those who says carnatic flute is not up to the mark to hindustani flute . One suggestion to them : Just blow flute and try to create sound ....it's hard instrument. Tapasya ki hai in logo ne waha tak pohochne k liye. Apke judge krne se waise to unhe kuch fark to nahi padega...but ap sab kitne jaldi Judge kr lete ho. Ye judging karna galat hai.
I haven't heard anyone say that. Carnatic flute is considered more difficult and on a higher plane than Hindustani by most flautists. Hindustani takes a lot from Carnatic, but Carnatic takes very little from Hindustani. Moreover most Carnatic players have no problem adapting to Hindustani, but if you do it vice versa it's more difficult. It's much more difficult to render Charukeshi or Mohanam for a Hindustani player than it is for a Carnatic player to render a north Indian raag like Jaunpuri or Malkauns. Plus Carnatic has many more notes and styles of notation than Hindustani, as it's a much older style of music. In fact a case can be made than Hindustani is merely another style of Carnatic Indian classical music.
rakesh sirs feel is amazing no doubt the environment of rag yaman he creating is outstanding

Beautiful 👃👃👃👃👃
The carnatic flute sounds a bit constipated .... no offence ...just a view. Shashank and Rakesh are both Maestros.
If hidustany is meditation, the carnatic is yoga. For getting anything these one need yogam.
Mood 😂
The Shadj is in D scale. 🙏🏽
कमाल है लोग इन्हें भी डिसलाईक करते है जैसे डिसलाईक करने वाले तानसेन के खानदान से है 😂
No sound.
Some times carnetic flute sounds like mosquito humming 😆
South Indian flute is out of sur... and chanchal.. doesn;t match with north Indian flute.
right
its in Sur, only higher octave.
बैठक व्यवस्था अति उत्तम है
