  • Come along while I build up a gravel bike for a customer. The bike originally had Shimano GRX mechanical 11 speed on it, but the customer wanted 12 speed Ultegra Di2. I stripped the bike, cut the steerer tube and the proceeded with the build.
    Thanks for watching.

    Love this kind of video! Would be cool to get some shots of the actual change or work on the bike, although I know it might not be so easy to do!

      Thanks for the comment. And, yeh, I would love to get more shots of me actually doing the work, but it is just me in there with my phone, so not possible yet. But, hoping to change that soon.
      Cheers

    Keen to see how this rear mech will do on rough staff without clutch. I use the same staff for gravel but would be nice to have a stronger spring as an upgrade at some point. Also, what do you use to fix disc brake spacing discrepancies ?

    • @biketailor
      @biketailor  Před rokem +2

      Yeh, i hear you on that. Id probably opt for a clutch derailleur too for gravel.. But, I believe this customer is going to be on tame gravel, so should be fine with the normal spring tension.
      For rotor spacing you can buy spacers pretty cheap online. Then you workout which wheelset's rotor sits further inboard and space that set out accordingly. Take a bit of trial and error and patience, but can usually get there. These wheelsets actually didn't need any in the end, so that was lucky for me (and the shifting was spot on too).

    Fantastic video! I have the same bike and powermeter - very useful to see how to measure if the crankset is symmetric :-) What's the final weight of the bike?

      @biketailor  Před rokem +1

      No idea, i didn't weigh it. I was under a tight deadline, so didnt have a chance to get that. But, it is a lovely bike and would be pretty light with the zipps.

    nice build, what about the fit for a wide sram crankset (dub) I am on the process to built a new grvl bike and the scott addict RC frameset looks like a nice option, for the current frame in use I have the wide crankset force, will fit fine on this scott addict? will like to know about it.

      @biketailor  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yeh, Sram Dub cranksets will fit, just make sure to get a compatible bottom bracket. The build was a few month ago, so I cant remember all the frame spec, but I think The Scott addict cx has a bb86 shell. So, get a BB that is bb86 for sram Dub

    Hi, why did you remove the original BB (used for GRX crank)? Is this one not compatible with Ultegra crank? Or is it due to Rotor crank requiring different BB standard? Thank you!

    • @biketailor
      @biketailor  Před 8 měsíci

      Yes, these rotor cranks required a different BB
