I swear every time I watch one (many) of your videos and you “mess up” it makes me come back and watch more of your videos! You normalize woodworking, the process, and show hey you may mess up and your plans may not come out as you first want them but you still go for it! THANK YOU!!! It truly helps me especially as a beginner!
Well said, it's important to see where you can go wrong and how to fix it!~
So much this. We watch so we learn from others mistakes.
i know he is so good
I was just thinking this! So many CZcamsrs make it look like there’s nothing that could go wrong and makes me feel like I must be an idiot that I struggle so much. I love the honesty of this channel
It's actually realistic and when you realize it happens to professionals it doesn't make the average DIYer feel like such a failure as I do after watching all of the highly edited (basically fake) videos.
My grandfather always said Never judge a carpenter by his mistakes but by how the carpenter fixes the mistakes.
Great video my wife wanted the same thing on her pantry, turns out we are now building a house around the pantry she wanted. So much for my 300.00 budget.😢
Always how it goes 😂 Good luck!
my sorry for your wife i don't mean it in a bad way but she wanted so much for what?
😂😂😂
Best comment!
The fact that you show your mistakes and when it doesn’t go perfectly is the reason I love watching your videos. You’re actually realistic. And the final product always turns out so good. Super impressed man
Thanks for showing the 'oops' moments, it really helps noobs like me see that this stuff really is kind of tricky and mistakes can be fixed as you go. Especially when you're working for free for yourself and not analyzing the plans to death. The final product looks great!
I plan to death 🙋♀️ i cant afford to make mistakes, i do but it ends up costing more
First time watching your videos and I very much appreciated you showing the real REAL moments of frustration, confusion and "I'm done with this for today" before getting back at it and making a functional, beautiful addition to your kitchen.
we need a whole house tour at this point
This 👆👆
Including the garage! Omg that tool wall?! 😮💨
I always thought that the best thing about a pantry is being able to see everything you have got.
Mr. Build is not only a beast at cabinet building but he's got a great sense of humor. Glad I found your channel.
I really love the notion of having to have a place (with outlets so you don't have to move them) to put all the small appliances you use where they won't clutter up you kitchen countertops.
A job well done, but it looks like you had way more functional food storage *before* the remodel, and after it looked like less of a pantry and more like a kitchen with all of those drawers. Also, that tiny space will function a whole lot better if you installed a pocket door.
That's more like
a mini kitchen than an actual pantry. It's very attractive.
The most honest carpentry channel lol. Love this!
Kudos to you for moving forward calmly no matter what mishaps occur. So glad you are showing the difficult parts, as this is what helps us know what to expect and how to correct the problems. Thank you!
Absolutely needed this video today. Doing a split home stair remodel, on the home stretch today. I just couldn't get my head right and kept messing up cuts and having to fix my work. Took a breather to watch this video and get my head right. Overcoming all the mistakes is what I needed. Getting off my ass now let's get this done! Thank you!
Ha! That's not tiny. It definitely depends on one's personal perspective. Very pretty outcome. More than I could have imagined for the space. Great job!
Lol I was thinking the same thing and couldn’t believe no one else had said anything
Love the butler's pantry. It was an old fabulous feature that a lot of remodelers were tearing out of older homes and not putting them in with new construction. So glad to see it back in again. Looks good with a modern finish. Fun video. Thanks for sharing the project!
We have a pantry in between the kitchen and the dining room - it's got sink, coffee station, junk drawers, and dishes. First kitchen designer wanted to tear it out to increase the already big kitchen! I like older houses bc each room and space has a purpose rather than one big catch all (ahem open floor plan).
Two seconds in...that's what she said.
Great work. Love that you show the mistakes and frustrations that even experienced DIYers like yourself still make. Most CZcamsrs don't show that and make it seem like everything goes perfectly the first time.
Also going forward it would be interesting if you could add in, along with the price breakdown, the number of hours you spent working on each project.
How awesome your pantry... your husband too... but let's focus on the pantry! lol...the envy of every single woman who watches this video!! Wow loved it. We too have a small pantry and I loved the idea of all your appliances plugged into the outlets - beautiful. Loved the color combination and that backsplash is gorgeous. Congratulations and enjoy it with lots of love and blessings!
Good build. Although not part of the original plan, I would have put in a water line/spigot for the coffee and tea machines since you already had the wall opened up due to the unforeseen waterline issue. Not a big deal since it wasn't part of the original design. I know it's not that far to the kitchen to get the water, but I would look for opportunities to kick it up a notch as long as it doesn't cost too much.
I had the electric outlets mounted under the cabinets themselves (in your case shelves) rather than cutting through the glass backsplash. Worked like a charm and were out of sight.
Love the itemized cost breakdown on the projects! It would be sweet if you also did an itemized time breakdown too -- e.g., X hours for the cabinet shells, Y hours for the drawers, Z hours for the shelves, etc..... I'm such a newb I have no idea how many hours a project like this takes.
His hours would be alot shorter than the hours of a new carpenter. To many variables. He might be able to do this in 2 days. And it take someone else a week or longer
For those tile cuts with the grinder, tape the square first and go slow and easy. You can get real stone counters for about $100 just by going to a granite and stone supplier and buying remnants from them for small projects like this.
Just discovered your website. I love this pantry, your humor and your website. Thank you.
Just found you this evening as I was taking a break from my project. I'm converting a hall closet into a pantry and I'm ticked off at the irregular walls. Seeing you show us that nothing is regularly sized calms me down. I'm using free shelves, $3 fir strips, a cheap Harbor Freight drill, and a jig saw to do this. I was concerned about the water lines in one of the walls but my house is old so doubt I can poke a hole in those metal water lines. BTW, I'm a single, 62-year-old female DIY'er who loves watching brilliant people creating stuff on YT. Thank you for posting!!
You probably could have used one of those water leaks to make a faucet for water running straight to the coffee pot.
Way to push through man, setbacks are just another opportunity to get creative and leave you feeling even more satisfied once you're done!
I felt the tile cutting in my soul.
Thanks for showing the water punctures! Keeps it real
I love how it turned out. It looks so much better and more functional than before. ❤
This has given me hope for my tiny pantry! It looks great!
This is the first time we've watched you. My husband really likes you because you make mistakes. He feels for you.
This was a great video. My father was a cabinetmaker by profession. I grew up watching him make cabinets. Wish he still could, this pantry is a dream.
The funniest part is when you said it would cost $300 😅 Looks good though!
To be fair he said the cabinets would be $300, not the entire project. Still pretty far off.
Turned out beautifully! Love the tile even though it was such a pain. Awesome job!!
omg i love how he show everything because thats whatwe are facing as normal ppl trying to fix or upgrade our houses.. so much respect and i love it
You are so talented! I so much appreciate, admire what some men are able to do! Amazing! Terrific. Thank God for men like you!
Love your channel and the transparency that you show how challenging (and oftentimes frustrating)projects really are!
Looks amazing and worth the work 👏👏👏
Your project turned out beautiful 🤩 I'm glad you showed the problems that you encountered as well because many times we only see the before and after, and if we try to do a project and things don't turn out the way we see it in a video we just give up. Well done 👍🏻💖
the very first opening line of this video hit me on a spiritual level
That pantry is gorgeous. Great job. I need to find myself a handyman husband lol
I love that you show the mistakes and challenges - the running out of room on the table saw is a prob I have as well. It did freak me out though that you aren’t holding onto the piece between the blade and the fence. That is a kickback waiting to happen (speaking from experience in my early days as a cabinetmaker). But the results were beautiful and functional! Great job!
Love it, looks amazing and seems super practical. I also love that you have build in a countertop for all the appliances! That space is not small though...you should see the kitchen space in my small German apartment. Most houses here do not have separate pantry at all, so this pantry seems huge to me.
I stopped using stud finders YEARS ago... Get you a good magnet. I use the ones sold on amazon to mount guns with... Run it back and forth until you find the screws. Works faster and much more accurate.
You are the man! First time I have watch your you tube channel and I loved it. Your wife is very lucky to have a talented man as you. The pantry came out great. I wish I had someone to do my pantry. Such great space. Great video!
Beautiful! Your wife is very lucky to have such a handy husband.
my wife literally finds stuff on pintrest and there goes my weekend. in the shop building
@@bjornjoseph same man, I totally feel that haha
$300 😂😂😂😂 estimates like a true contractor
That pantry is the size of my kitchen 😆
It’s a beautiful house! And beautiful pantry to match now
So didn't need to watch this video, because I really miss my husband! He's been doing weekend projects around the house for a while now. But I think I am going to eventually add this one to my list because I love it!🤣
Great vid! Thanks for not editing out the issues you faced. Sometimes even the easy projects can have multiple problems. Hey, what did you do to flush up the outlets once you installed the tile? Again, great job 👍🏻 keep the good work.
electrical (caterpillar) spacers. or you can make some spacers out of 14awg wire
@@giovannimazariegos7943 got it. Thanks man 👍🏻
I saw a tip online where a guy uses 3/8” pex tubing for his electrical spacer.
Are these water lines from his own redo of the bathroom? Or the previous owners/contractors? Those waterlines looked a bit familiar..
Yeah I was thinking too it was from the bathroom remodel they did.
I would not call this a tiny pantry by any means but the end result is beautiful and much more functional.
I had a similar situation, a plumber friend of mine advised, if you ever screw into a pipe, don't take the screw out else it'll flood the floor. By leaving it in, that'll give you time to turn of the main water supply.
never seen such things in Europe, we just don't buy too much, we eat what we bought then go buy more
The problem in America, depending on where you live, is that many of us don't have easy access to a grocery store. Many of us, including our friend here, live in either traditional suburbs or planned communities, in either case grocery stores usually are not convenient to where we live so we have to drive, sometimes long distances, to reach the store, this is why American homes tend to have a lot of food stuffs on hand since it's easier to stock up once a week or so instead of making daily trips to a store.
Yes we shop once a week too, we just don’t buy as much food as you do
This is America! We buy what we want and throw hella shit away years later after we discover we never used it. #Blessed. Anyways, skills and channel is dope plus wife is a dime plus he providing for family. It's simple and im inspired.
@Daryl P yes americans are soooo terrible because we buy a lot of food to keep on hand. It's a pretty dumb thing to feel superior about, but hey bro do your thing.
@@DominicNJ73 makes sense
I've officially commissioned my husband to do this to my pantry 😊
Great build. What would have been a sweet addition to the build. The bottom draws as step. For the your wife to reach the top shelfs when your not around.
Beautiful! You’re my new favorite obsession here on YT. Why? Well, because you’re amazing at what you do and now my husband has new projects! We’re going to watch this one together this weekend. 😉
Hello Mr. Fix this....Builded THAT. Grat space-&-Storage!
XO Macenna is a must watch for her skill. Texas kitchen and house restoration.
Absolutely love it❣️ I would have painted the upper cabinets and shiplap before installation.
I'm jealous. I wish my house had a pantry room, even a small one. Someday!
love the "warts and all" approach- i feel every oops on this one.. I'm that guy too. Thanks for keeping it real.
This is beautiful! I have to share your channel and videos with my own handy hubby. We are older, so although he is an amazing carpenter, electrician, plumber, HVAC-R, drywaller, construction guru, you demonstrate fresh style and newer processes. SO APPRECIATE that you include oopsies. We all make them, so why not be real? Thanks!!!
Honestly, after watching all the disaster she went through to finish it, and seeing the final result; I do think it wasn't so bad before. Plus I like more classic stuff. Thanks for everything, really useful. I know what to keep. Best wishes!
Your perseverance is amazing! I would have just gotten the formica and run it up the wall.
unreal. You are a legend. worth the effort. looks very elegant and has great taste in colors. Not a big space but well organized.
You are so talented. And you are humble enough to admit when you screw up. Which no project goes without a screw up. Love your work.
I really like that. Its my dream to have a pantry in my kitchen. One day hopefully. 😊
I just want to say, you make me feel better about all my DIY projects taking way longer and having a bunch of turns/extra work involved beyond what I had planned.
I like how this channel shows the challenges the everyday do it ur selfers run in to. I randomly ran into one of the videos and this is my fourth video I’ve watched in a row.
Black Rifle Coffee?! Oh Hell yeahl! Oh the pantry looks nice too. Great job!
This gentleman has a great work garage. So well Neat & Organized!
His work looks so great. Thanks for sharing.
Literally just searched you this morning to see if you’ve posted any new projects. Then this just showed up! 🎉🎉🎉
WOW that transformation is amazing. Now the real challenge is keeping it clean 😄
Watching your mistakes is very encouraging ! This is a great learning video... THANKS.
watching you struggle with those tile cuts hurt my heart, mna. youre a reno hero
That's what I want BUT don't have the space for it
BUT I can have the same thing on a single wall
without the corner setup like they have here.
I LOVE IT 💓💓💓💓💓Great Job man.
At first, I felt sorry for you since you had to fulfill the wishes of the wife and the princess, but your craftsmanship prevails, good job man.
My grandpa used to soak the tiles before any cuts!!! You should try next time😊
This is fantastic!!!! Absolutely one of the best pantry makeovers I've seen!!! Great job!
Turned out great. And that is the cutest little iron I have ever seen.
I gotta say I love the shelves in there! 1 of the reasons I watch is because you are honest and real. Yes mistakes happen, then we think through and fix them. This pantry is, well as a pantry should be! The coffee grounds bin is heavenly. Gorgeous is all I can add!
Man if you ever sell your home, whoever gets it afterwards will be blessed with a fantastically custom home. Terrific work 💗
So nice to have a husband handy dude to renovate your pantry! You go girlie!
Love watching you work and the interaction with your wife! This project turned out great, as always. Please keep the videos coming! Always fun to watch.
Buddy you need a wet tile saw! What a headache for you! I feel that, tile is so trick and the wet saw helps! Your pantry turned out amazing!! I am planning a party Reno myself and this video was SO helpful!! I LOVE the plexiglass hack, freaking brilliant!! I’m subscribing for sure! Keep up the incredible work!!
I love the tiles.
When you 'mess up' cutting the tiles it shows us that this can happen and not to panic when it does. Especially when newbies try this kind of projects.
Oh how i wish i had space for a pantry.
One thing I do about plexiglass is since I’m a regular at Lowe’s and Home Depot, as I assume you are. I ask an associate if they have scraps from others cutoff and usually the people that get stuff cut there don’t take scraps and I’ve gotten lucky with some pretty large pieces. Most of the time since they are trash I get them for free but sometimes you have that one manager that will charge usually no more than $5.
Great job! Your videos are a reality of what it means to do a DIY. Nothing ever goes the way we plan, but keep at it. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
I love that you show your mistakes and set backs. Just came across your content and looking forward to watching more. Liked and subscribed because of how real your content is.
Beautiful work! Looks like it was all worth every headache it caused you. Thank you for this tutorial and taking us along your journey with you.
When cutting holes in porcelain tiles I use a diamond drill bit to cut a small hole in the corner of the shape and then I use a fret saw with a diamond saw to cut the shape out.
Takes a little time but it saves breaking the tile and gives a nice finish.
I wish I had that pantry. Ours is 19 inches wide and 22 inches deep lol This looks nice, good job!
WOW! Truly amazing pantry. Everything you need in a small space. Great job!
WOWWW. That looks FANTASTIC. What an asset!
This is the very first time I have ever watched any of your videos. Very nice , and great job! Great job indeed!
I am so jealous of all the tools you have that make building something easy peasy. Good for you! Great work!!!
Thank you the laughs! Awesome renovation of your pantry…..
Nice job. I've run thousands of laminate sheets. A $12 can extra strength spray contact would've worked fine there. I usually spray material and laminate twice before installing
UAU. No words. What a TALENT and SKILLED man. Keep up with the great content, great!
I love this pantry remodel! You just totally inspired me to close up a closet in my daughters bedroom, move the pantry entryway and turn the tiny under the stairs pantry into one gigantic canning shelf
