  • Follow along with the crew of Happy Ours, on our 341 Meridian sport bridge as we travel the Florida loop from Cape Coral, through Lake Okeechobee, down the east coast to the Florida keys.
    In this episode, we made it to Palm Beach Inlet by Peanut Island, a boaters paradise with clear water, snorkeling and amazing marinas and boats to explore. We also head ashore and drive around Palm Beach Shores in our friends golf cart!
    We also visit the famous Sailfish Marina, and have a stay at Safe Harbor North Cove marina.
    Follow us as we make our way to the Florida keys and back.

    Tom, a couple of facts about Peanut Island for you. The island is actually a dredge material disposal site operated by the Army Corp of Engineers and the county. The whole center of the island is the disposal area. Last summer the USACE issued a Request for Proposal to have 400+ thousand Cubic Yards of sand dug out of the disposal area, transported by barge 10 miles south and deposit it in a shallow bay area to make an environmental ecosystem. It was a really neat bid to put together but my company was not the low bidder.

    Love the Singer Island area. Spent a lot of time there when I was a corporate pilot. The Sailfish marina is a great place for lunch and dinner. You saw the dive boat and you would probably be surprised to know that the area under the Blue Heron Bridge is noted as one of the best dive sites in the world!

    Just a suggestion…..When I watch airplane videos/flying videos the most fun part is the landing, taking off and radio communications…I say the same applies for “me” with motor vessels…….Capturing docking and undocking for “me” is appreciated in videos….

      I try. It’s tough to film and dock at times. My new camera bracket helps though!

    Thankyou, Another great vid 👍
    Im not used to harbours in that area, do you tip the deckhands who help tie up your boat?
    Is that custonary or normal there?

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  Před měsícem +1

      I always tip dockhands something if they go out of the way to help. Same for gas dock attendants. $5-$20 depending on how much they help out.

    You should have anchored on the west side of the island. No wake zone, so no waves in the night.
