In 1989 I met the man to whom I'm now married. One of the first times I went to his parents' house his dad asked him to "rob them bees right quick". (2 hives) 😳 Willie went out to the hives and I perched myself in the swing with his dad. We chatted a few minutes until he said, "Wait! Why aren't you out there holding the smoke for him?" ...I had NO experience with bees. It took quite a few minutes but he eventually talked me into going. 😬 No suit. Nothing. (which was their tradition) I was SKEERED! ...but by the time we finished I was in love with bees! We kept 2-4 hives over the years but lost our last hive several years ago. Now, we're in a new place and trying to find a bee tree we know must be somewhere close. ... we'll see if we can do this again. I'm so excited to have bees again!

Started beekeeping because of the Honeystead 🙌 4 hives so far
Great to see an Oz Armour suit from down under. Lots of us in Australia love them. We are doing the reverse here and setting up for Winter. We usually do under wear only in OZ Armour suits :) because the vented nature is cooler in Summer. BTW, all bee suits should have their stains and marks, shows they are true work clothes.
Lol it’s a very nice suit and lol I will also rock my bathing suit under mine but don’t feel comfortable sharing those videos hahahs
Been waiting for this one.😁An white bees suit is an unloved suit, it needs to bee all dirty.🤣You two sure you know how to put these suits on, you may have to back up to jackets and work back up to the full suit..😂
An easy way put you a piece of plywood on the ends that way it'll fit the 2 mediums, but if you lid doesn't have enough extra space it wouldn't fit. You tow and your family have a wonderful day.

All of my hives are single brood box hives and all 12 survived the winter. I stack them up and wrap them in Plastic so they share the heat 🙂
I love bees!! I’m going to have to plant a ton of flowers this year because last year there weren’t very many but the year before there were tons and I would just sit and watch them, it’s relaxing!! When I was little I was swarmed once, a queen must have landed on me, they were all over me and I remember looking at my hand and saw some kinda digging in my finger nail and I passed out! I didn’t get stung once! I just wasn’t scared at all 🤷🏻♀️ 🐝🐝
The putting on of suits was the best Laurel & Hardy routine haha

Oh my my my , it’s beezzzzzyyyy season. 80°f and I was finally able to pull six five frame splits. I’ll be pulling six more on Sunday . They’ve built up fast . Seen a handful of queen cups but no primed queen cells. Prince George, Virginia!
Yes me too ! Vented ! Get them bigger so I can wear a hoodie when it’s cool! And a wet towel around my neck in the summer ! 🤣 So funny!!

I love burlap for lighting the smoker then using brush etc on top because it lights easily by lighting up the bottom of a bunch as I drop it in.
Can you do a video on dried herbs, tinctures, salves, dried culinary herbs? How long do each store away in pantry before they should be used up or dumped out? What about if you have to store them in a dark but warm place? Any other info on this topic?

Fascinating. I've always wanted to try raising bees. I know there are a few people around here who do it. Right now, I buy their honey....lots of honey, lol.
Wood pellets like for giving a smoky flavor in your grill is a GREAT smoker material......harder to start....but will last for hours

Nice wad of green grass on top of your smoker will keep ash sparks and such from coming out into your hive....thanks for the video...take care
I got out to my hives for the first time this season yesterday, and it felt SO good to be back working with the ladies!
Glue an extra piece of wood on the side toward the middle.
Nothing better than the sounds of bees, helps to see spring is close and that nature is waking up. Hope we have bees soon here than we know winter is finally done!

Thank you for posting these informative videos. Me personally, I am and always have been DEATHLY TERRIFIED of any kind of bee's. I have found out that I'm allergic to them as well. But I'm also fascinated by them! I know it sounds weird but they are fascinating and I do love honey LOL

I've never heard of bees wax in my smoker...how much do you use?
We just used a small amount- maybe marble size!
It's tough to feed because we know they need it but then worry we are promoting weaker genetics. Wonder your thoughts on this. Great videos and appreciate your work.
I’m 50/50.
I normally heavy combine my colonies going into winter… this one I wanted to, but didn’t (boo on me) I like hardy bees and I found the more I do for them, the worse they are! I will step in if needed, but overall want them to do what they need to do!
