  • The physical difference between single mode and multi-mode fiber optical cable is the diameters of the core. The single mode could supply up to 20K network, and multi-mode supplies about 550 meters. Should we use the multi-mode fiber cable while the distance is short? Actually, you can use single mode fiber cable to run just a 10feet network. There is not much cost difference these days, but if you just prefer multi-mode for some reason, this video will show you how to use the multi-mode fiber cable to connect the network between point A and point B. You will need to change the SFP transceiver and the cable. The media converters are not cable related.
