  • Let's go a little further west today and visit the stunning city of Salzburg. You might know it from The Sound of Music (weirdly unknown in Austria!) or as Mozart's place of birth, but it also has a really interesting history as an independent papal state - still evident in its many churches all across the city. Plus, of course, there's the view from the medievial city fortress or the Alpine peaks just beyond...
Triggers include a soft spoken voice with Austrian accent, pointing and tracing, dynamic camera work, and tingly paper sounds. 😴

I had the great fortune to visit Salzburg many years ago and it was so lovely. This was such a wonderful trip down memory lane to see the city again and learn even more about it. Thank you for the great video!

It's such a beautiful city, isn't it? I don't visit very often, but it's always a little enchanting. I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

So calming. A beautiful voice. My blood pressure drops at least 10 points watching this.

Thanks for this! Another American here excited to see Salzburg because of Sound of Music! My mother toured it in person. That movie was so important to our family. My whole view of Austria got skewed from it. As if Austria is all Tyrol and Alps with Salzburg as the true capital. Of course I know about Vienna and old Austria-Hungary too, but that seems almost like another country to me that just happens to have the same name as the "true" Austria of the Alps. 🥰

Thanks for another great video! All I really knew about Salzburg was that they have a pretty successful football team so it was nice to learn more about the city.

And considering the state of Austrian football, that's no small feat lol.
Thank you, it makes me really happy to hear you're enjoying these!

Me and my wife are from England and we traveled to Vienna a few years ago and loved it, also when I was 15 I’m now 53 I went with my parents and stayed in soll in the Tyrol an absolutely beautiful stunning location also I’ve been to Innsbruck were I remember seeing the Olympic ski jump plus the golden roof, love the food especially the apple strudel. Me and my wife will be definitely returning to Austria once this terrible virus passes. Thanks!!! melange.

Oh that sounds like it was a wonderful vacation. The Tyrol is absolutely stunning! I remember the first time I was in Innsbruck - the way it's situated in the middle of the mountains is mindblowing, so beautiful! All fingers crossed that we can travel again soon! I think we all deserve a little holiday after the last year...

Another excellent video, particularly as this is one of my favourite cities in Europe. A very good friend of mine lives in Hallein and I have visited both there and Salzburg a number of times. It feels like a classical orchestra is playing on every street corner. Much like Vienna, especially in the national library (my favourite Viennese building, I could spend all day there) and the nearby Stift Melk. Looking forward to more of your Austrian cultural tours. Vielen Dank nochmal. Schönes Wochenende :)

Thank you, Zoltan! Hah, I agree with you - one of my favourite memories is sitting in the Mirabelle gardens, right after getting off the train, and listening to two cellists who just happened to be playing there. It's an incredibly beautiful place, and the same is true of course for Stift Melk. I love seeing it along the route to Vienna, such an impressive building.
My weekend was quite busy, but I hope you had time to relax! And you're very welcome, I'm super glad you're enjoying these videos :)

Hello Krys, thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Right, the candles are so cute - though I have to admit, I'm starting to buy these things mostly because I tell myself I can use them in videos haha, I hope it doesn't escalate 😂

Thanks, one of my favorite cities to visit, right up there with Bruges. Spent a wonderful New Year's there long time ago. Funny, I had also never heard of the Sound of Music before I moved to the US.

Oh, I can imagine that Salzburg would be a great place for New Year's Eve!
Have you seen it yet? Sometimes I get curious about it, just because I want to know why there's so much repression and denial about it haha, but so far I haven't been curious enough.

Another extremely informative and relaxing video- warum schreibe ich eigentlich in Englisch???
