Thank you for the peacefully satisfying bike zen videos.
Thanks for the support!🧡
I found a giant talon in the garbage and I’m rebuilding it this will help , thanks a lot. God bless Jesus loves you
Thanks Denis🧡
Anyone who rebuilds the freehub deserves praise.
Fantastic job
Thanks Martin!🧡⚙️
Totally agree fantastic job the bike was battered well worth the watch indeed 👍
Terrific video thank you, Sean from Victoria, Australia.
Thanks Sean! 🇦🇺🧡
So talon-ted again. Great video.
Haha😂🧡
I can definitely vouch for Auto Glym Super Resin polish, one of the best detailing products out there and not the absolute most expensive either 👍🏼✨
my bike cleaning/servicing/restoring kink is now finally satified having found your channel!
oooofff restoring that freehub must have been satisfying
Great video , lots of great advice and knowledge . Only wish some bike shop would and stop watch your channel . Great work , great to see some one doing a proper job. . 10/10
Thanks David that’s very kind 🧡
Great job on this video. It’s nice to see good work with a great outcome! I am not a professional bike mechanic but self taught and only my own bikes for now and more of a retirement hobby. I am happy to see that what I do with my bikes is mirrored by a pro such as yourself. There are details though that I will be going back and redoing having seen your work such as greasing bolt threads, replacing caged headset bearings with individual bearings. Also, I like your use of the sonic cleaner where I’ve been using just plain old “elbow grease” and degreaser solution. Thanks again for sharing your expertise!
Enjoy all your time working on your bikes and thanks for the very kind words!🧡
I just found you, thank you ever so much for your posts!
Thanks for watching!🧡⚙️
I think this was the video where you suddenly hit a winning formula with your narration, Simon's filming and editing and the mellow tunes, brilliant 😀
Beautiful work gentlemen! I love it when top notch work goes into a regular bike!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching🧡
Great video, but can I recommend final "Before-and-After" comparison shots at the very end?
Great suggestion! & one we implemented following your comment
Wow, that bike looks brand new. Great job. You are a true professional.
🧡💪🏼⚙️
A Giant Talon was my 1st bike. It's nice that you have the same level of excitement or appreciation for all levels of bikes. 🙂👍
Great attention to detail, not least of all the hub rebuild, something I haven't yet done! 👏🏻
I know mega late with my reply but I’m going over your Bikeography so to speak😜
Loved this one and your attention to detail Sir is Highly Commendable.
Great Job Yet again🙏🚴🏻
Better late than never! Thanks for all the support🧡
Amazing knowledge of all types of bikes.great job.
Thanks very much!🧡
Great video again, I like the style. The commentary is very unique and makes it stand out from other videos if you ask me. Thanks!
Thank you. We actually found this works, because we are a working shop and these are real jobs. It means we can have the radio on, serve customers, do other jobs along the way etc. Even with this style the editing of the video & my audio takes 501films forever! (I say “urm” a lot! lol)
Absolutely. There are many build vids with no commentary. As relaxing as they are to watch, bikespeeds vids are way more engaging.
I don't trust anyone with my bikes, I would definitely trust you. That's for sure.
Watching a video like this makes you realise how much work goes into a rebuild like this. Great job
We spend hours filing these too. Each bike we show is at best a full days work and often two or three!
this was so satisfying watching it get cleaned with the mellow voice over and accent. I have a giant talon myself and the seat post just got stolen. Subscribed.
Thanks for the kind words 🧡 hope you sort your bike ASAP
job well done!
Top job my friend ,love your videos
Thanks James 🧡
Love bikes like this, well ridden with miles and miles of happiness in them, turned out fantastic ready for more fun!
Love all your videos. Purchased my self a big softie…best thing ever !
Love the respect you pay to the bikes, however bashed up they may come! thats quite extraordinary. I wish I had a shop here where I could have a service like you provide. Keep it up!
Bikes are meant to be ridden! Thanks for watching🧡
Outstanding video, so well put together and the information and process for the service/rebuild priceless. Thanks Heaps
Thanks David!
I watched everything in your channel you are mega!
I wish we had a shop like yours around here 😊
Really enjoying these videos. Motivating me to clean my bikes.
Love these videos, keep up the great work! Both Mechanic and video editor!
Thanks James, thanks for watching! 🧡👍🏻🚲
I subscribed yesterday. It is very relaxing and satisfying to see you treating all those bikes so well. I love to maintain and clean my own -road- bike, it goes a lot faster after a good clean-up. Your video’s are very inspring!
Thanks Eaev! We couldn’t agree more🧡
This video makes me wish I didn't rid myself of my 97 Giant atx 890. I put some serious kms on that bike.
That came up beautifully 😍
I have watched most of your videos and I can you do a great job well done lads I hope your business goes well 👍🇬🇧
Shame you didn’t do the before and afters on this bike. What an amazing difference. Well done.
Thank you Vivienne! This was one of our earliest videos before we did before and after🧡⚙️
Nice job like the workmanship excellent...
Nice Work!
Just found your channel, so much useful info: like odd number of bearings, never knew that.! Subscribed 🙌
Found this on Vital MTB... really well done! I enjoyed this quite a bit... you all do great work!
Thanks for coming over Dan!
fantastic rebuild so satisfying to watch. just discovered your channel love your content.
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Your Videos are awesom and a type of Art. I enjoy them so much:) Thank you for sharing These with us. I wish you only the Best for now and your Future
Thanks for the kind words Freddy!
A rattle can of satin black spray paint and a cardboard box spray booth would do wanders for the crank arms and derailleur cage, otherwise a real labor of love.
As these are customers bikes we can’t always do this kind of work to a bike “you painted my bike and ruined it” and so on. We have to be very careful. People are irrational at times.
Great video. Found it on Vital. The level of detail is insane.
That’s the aim for us, we’re just trying to show how in depth you can go with an old bike and how you can bring them back up!
Literally obsessed with this channel it’s amazing keep up the good work lads , where is your shop based ?
Hi Rikki we are based in Lowestoft, UK
Love to see how you rebuild the hubs, at our shop in the Netherlands, we just replace the low end wheels and hubs, because this is cheaper. If you compare the work that goes in to rebuidling a tx505 hub to the price of a new one, it is cheaper for the customer to just replace it.
I disagree. But we are all different, it’s down to practice.
Amazing
Thanks for dropping us a comment!
Great vid mate, but I would bin the T-cut and use Farécla G3 or G10 mild, great stuff.
Great video I am just about to service a neighbours Talon which is abit of a mess, new chain rings (its a 3 x 10) new cassette and new chain going on. hoping it turns out as well as the one you done. Great work.
Awesome! Good luck with your work 🧡⚙️
One recommendation is to put some suspension grease on the fork stanchions, make the bike just a bit smoother
Ik ben zelf fietsenmaker maar heb toch van uur geleerd hoe je goed een fiets proper maakt en vind ook dat je het zeer correct doet mvg Michaël België
Great videos would love to see a voodoo bantu 1 as that's what bike I have
If we get one in for a video we’ll do one🧡
2:38 - bit overcrowded in that teeny ultrasonic.
You showed me what's go in on in my rear hub when back pedaling, but not sure witch bick it was. AWWW !
It will always be either a chain or the hub needing a service, little else it can be really. If you remove the wheel you can usually feel if the hubs the problem. If that flicks back nicely it’s the chain.
I'm not sure if I missed it but do you service the suspension? Very nice job on the service and detailing of this bike!
Loved it the detailing of the video is top notch .
Needed a little help my mate owns a polygon premier 4 his headset below stem is having a small play when trying to tighten it does only when the rider is on the bike when he gets off of it it starts to play and makes subtle noise .
I'm doubting it may be the sealed bearings but recently he had changed the starnut by himself so it might be that .
Any suggestions would be helpful for us Thank you.
Would love you to get your hands on my old diamondback topanga 92 👍
I have 4 bikes if you still do this great job 👏 😮
no problem to use silicon detailing spray over disc rotors?
very nice job (again) but wondering why no new chainstay protector? 🧐
Great work. I'd happily lend you my bike for a detail but might take a while to get it to you as I'm across the pond...the big one.
There’s always UPS! Thanks for the interest in our channel. Lee
I been in to bikes for a long time now. And i also service bikes. I allways wondered what heck are those rubber rings that you put on the shifter cable.
And you should’t spray silicone shine on the rotors. They will squike like hell
Very satisfying job there. I’m just starting to do my own maintenance on our bikes, I’d love to know where you would get the torque setting from? I have a 6 month old Talon 0.
this park tool page will get you started www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/torque-specifications-and-concepts
Great video! what is the green grease that you used on the derailleur? I'm going to do a a full rebuild on my bike and I want to use the correct materials.
That is our own grease available on www.bikespeeds.com/shop!🧡⚙️
Great video. How was the fork? Given the state of the rest of the bike it might be ugly in there.
The fork was working efficiently & as this was a customers bike even for the videos we have to stop somewhere, maybe we’ll do a set of forks in another video, don’t forget to subscribe!
Do you have a video of a service on a "Giant Performance tracker boost 12x148mm, sealed bearing" type hub, one that would be found on a 2021 giant reign?
great video. what is the avarage price for this rebuilding. including parts and labour.
Been a former bike mechanic. Makes me wonder why you didn't checked the brake calipers, or at least replace the brake fluid? And no fork service?
was enjoying this before you mentioned the reason for odd bearing numbers. most engineers would be shaking their heads
Do you ever recondition the front forks as per of the restoration?
All that good work bur you never service the bottom bracket
Great stuff, delighted I found this channel! Going to be doing a quick rescue job on my mate's bike this week...He is brutally ignorant of maintenance and has let his Deore cassette and chain rust like hell, possibly the RD/FD too. I'm gonna do a vinegar soak on the parts and try clean em up before it's too far gone.
Enjoy the work! And thanks for watching and commenting, we appreciate the support🧡
@@Bikespeeds I'm pretty much hooked now. Watching bike cleanups and restorations is both informative and relaxing...Keep it up chaps!
Hey I have a question, Does the silicon detailer you use affect the break rotors and pads?
I wondered the same
Where are you guys located?
Amazing video by the way!
Suffolk England 🧡
wondering how many miles this was rode? seems like a crazy amount of time effort and expense to get it back to new......... beautiful bike though....... great job as usual
Does the detailed spray contaminate the rotors/braking surface?
We don’t spray them.
Couldnt the rusty disc be restored by sandgrindinng it?
I have a 2015 giant defy and wanted to know is it worth upgrading the components to 105 Shimano? Weekend warrior!
Upgrades are subjective and often far more costly than first expected! 105 upwards is never a bad thing!
I noticed you don't use gloves. Is it safe? How do you clean your hands ? I hate gloves but force myself use them when working with the bike
What was the tool you used to dissassemble the freehub? The one which you turned clockwise to undo.
I hate it when I get this sort of question! Because it’s a older video & I can’t even remember the bike let alone what we did to it so I have to rewatch it to see what it was! 😂 I don’t know which make mine is, I’ve had it years but I just found this on a quick Amazon search. Looks similar and will give you a direction CYBTM Bike Freehub Remove Install Tool Bicycle Quick Disassembly Installation Removal Flywheel Cassette Sleeve Slip Wrench www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08S386GVX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_MV3C0REQS8RQC4GJKNTT?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
@@Bikespeeds nice one thanks a lot I'm gonna try and service mine
Good luck!
What was that tool you used to service the freehub?
freehub body disassembly tool
Hi could u tell me what is the wides tyre u can put on a 26 inch wheel thanks
This bike was done some time ago. I don’t recall the tyres sorry.
What is the max user weight??
What’s the name of the green shimano grease you use??
Shimano Premium Dura-Ace Special Grease 100g
Very nice video and rebuilt except the chainring it is worn no teeth 😅
How much do you charge for all this
Sadly i sold my Giant Talon..
but upgraded to XTC
Nice job. The front chairing looks too worn.
Spraying silicone on discs a big no no
