I fell down the Aurora rabbit hole 5 years ago and I have had the most amazing journey,at my age of 64 I have seen many artists live in concerts no one has moved me more than this young artist. You are about to start a very special journey and believe me you about to see one of the best live performers ever, for that’s the best way to see her, all of her live performances are amazing but if I were pushed to choose one it would be her singing a song from her concert at the Nidarosdomen cathedral the song is called Lucky a song that she wrote at the age of 9 it’s a masterpiece i promise you will be moved to tears.🍎🎭❤️

She is now 25 years old. This song is about a mercy killing. A story she read about of a husband killing his terminally ill wife to end her suffering. No, it's not about abuse. Aurora is a master song writer and story teller that is better experienced live. Try something live from her Nidarosdomen concert. Try "Through the eyes of a child" or "Little boy in the grass". And no, she was not on any show. She was actually discovered when a friend posted something she sang in school on Facebook. She didn't want to be a performer at first, but her Mom convinced her to share her gift with the world. Aurora is a very kind and unique person. I always suggest live performances though, because she tells such an amazing story through her eyes and movements. Please do try that song from Nidarosdomen. You will see what I mean. She has become my favorite singer and I've been around a long time and have heard a lot of music. No one is like Aurora.

AURORA, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter.(From the same country as Angelina Jordan). Among artists and in the music industry the Norwegian singer AURORA is synonymous with quality, and she can fill a record with masterpieces time and time again. Many others are glad they manage one hit. Billie Eilish said in an interview that it was AURORA that made her become an artist and were inspired after listen to Aurora. She turned 25 in June, and her music has continued to evolve since those earliest years -- I recommend songs from her live high-octane 2018 KEXP concert (CHURCHYARD and ALL IS SOFT INSIDE), or just about anything from her Nidarosdomen concert (in a cathedral with orchestral ensemble, pipe organ and choir)! This is very emotional song. it is about something she read in newspaper. And this is about mercy killing (because of terminally ill wife). Also Aurora is very captivating and artistic. For me best performance of this song was on Nobel Prize Concert.
I would also recommend Runaway from Nobel Prize Concert (or official video) and many more :).
And about Aurora. She is from Norway and did not want to be a singer. She just need to write music for herself to release emotions etc. But she had performance (I think in school) and someone filmed it and put on internet. And then she was contacted to sign contract but she said no. On the very end she was convinced by mother that is would be selfish not to share her music.

Aurora is much loved by her fans. Billie Eilish said that she was the inspiration for her to turn professional. She is usually best live, so I suggest the Nidarosdomen concert. The songs Lucky and Through the Eyes of a Child are special in that concert. I believe this song is about a mercy killing of someone with terminal illness. Aurora's song writing is completely unique and well worth listening to. As well, she is really a trip to listen to when she talks.

Aurora started playing music and writing songs (in Norwegian) when she was 6, and then in English when she was 9 (now she is 25). She is a singer, songwriter, composer and producer. Her live performances are extraordinary. She is what you call a true empath, very close to nature and down to earth, highly talented and highly intelligent, always positive and funny. She really does talk to their fans, whom she calls warriors and wierdos. She is an absolute free spirit.
Aurora's movements are partly not rehearsed in her concerts. She is introverted and she shows her feelings through involuntary body movements.
She hates backtracks and, that's why she has a backround singer. Everything about her and her music is real. You get what you see, whether on stage or elsewhere.
Billie Eilish, she started her career because of Aurora. Her song "Runaway" was the trigger
The story behind the murder song.
Aurora wrote this song after reading about a "murder" in the newspaper near her homeland. A man killed his wife/girlfriend out of love. She was seriously ill and suffered more every day. He released her from suffering.
The song is sung from the perspective of the woman's ghost. Maybe he killed her with her consent (I hope so) or he made the decision on his own.
You will only find this explanation of this song in one interview with her (unfortunately I don't have a link to the interview and I can't find it anymore). It's not written anywhere else. And usually she doesn't explain her songs that specifically either, because she wants everyone to find their own story in them.
She usually only says to the song it is a true tragic love story that doesn't end well.
It should be said that this News was an inspiration for this song. That doesn't have to mean that the song itself is about it. But since it all fits together, I think so. Of course, it is written in such a way that many interpretations are possible. Just like Aurora actually always does.
To the countdown. Some people say the "killer" is counting down. On the contrary, the song is sung by the victim all the time. For me that means that she counts down herself and than her boyfriend pulls the trigger.
And she knows that he knows that he kills her for mercy. That means they both know. Sounds like an agreement.

This song is about a mercy killing. She read an article when she was very young about a man not too far from where she grew up who killed his mate because she was suffering from a brutal vicious progressive incurable disease and her suffering was becoming unbearable for both her and for him to watch. It is sung from the perspective of the person with the incurable disease and how the trauma of what is about to take place is devistating to both parties on a number of levels.

  • @renehoyvik

This song could very well be about abuse, and making excuses for the abuser. I've never experienced Aurora tell directly what one of her songs are about even though extremely many are under the impression it is written about a mercy killing read in an article, i've never read it even though i'm also Norwegian, but just like i could have missed the article i could also have missed when she explained what the song is about. I only discovered her last year. One thing that she has definitely said and you can find her saying numerous times, is that she wants the listener/viewer to find their own interpretation of the song, and she writes it that way intentionally as in her own words (as best as i can remember) as long as there are people to interpret my music, my music will live long after i am gone and hopefully help someone.
She will however sometimes say what inspired her to write a song. So that might have been what inspired her to write the song, but not what it is about. What i have read her say is "Its about a tragic love story that ended badly".
Aurora rarely writes music about her own experience, i'll see if you can identify them your self, and no this is not one of them :)
She usually writes about things she observe around her instead, or things she feel the world needs to hear as she is not scared of putting her opinions in her music.
I do agree what so many others have written here though, she is best experienced live :) Then you get the whole performance.
First person i've seen recognise them as not butterflies :)
She loves moths. They are insects that other find unnerving and relate to darkness, which is one of the reason she loves them as she has always been a bit of an outsider in her childhood.
Edit: FYI, i don't know if it is because you changed the audio mid video, but the high notes tore in my headphones and no they are not cheap ;P

I tend to play the music through mine pretty high, so it feels like I'm right there, and It's hard to tell what it's going to sound like on PC, Mobile, etc. I have been noticing that my Mic seems low, even though I have it set almost as high as it will go. I will test this out next time I record and see if I can't figure out a happy medium! As for Aurora, this was my first introduction into her music. Aurora has been writing music since she was 6. Her song Runaway that she wrote whe she was 11 inspired Billie Eilish to make music. Aurora is not hugely popular. She is a niche flavour I would say. Some of us like it that way. A lot of people I hear are put off by her quirky movements and expressions. Some of us think that is one of her most endearing qualities. She often recommends for people to start with her song Runaway to get to know her best. It's not my personal favourite but you can't really find a bad Aurora song. Aurora is best appreciated live. She sounds even better live. At the tender age of 25 she doesn't only write her own songs but co-produces them and most of her music productions. She has many a different style and flavour as you progress through her discography. She really is worth a rabbit hole dive! I don't think you'll be disappointed. She's not just an artist or a musician she's a sound and performance magician! Truly can be life changing as you watch her grow... Enjoy. I'll stay tuned for more Aurora. :)

Well, not hugely popular is relative. With over 3.3 million subscribers on yt and close to 700 million views on her yt channel, she leaves behind quite a number of other musicians/bands, we probably would call popular. Aurora herself does not seem to care too much about the number of fans (warrirors and weirdos she calls them), in one of the many documentaries about her she says that it's worth for her to release music if it helps a single person to feel better.

(if any have other quotes: pleace give me a link).
Others have said that she read a book that inspired the song, others say it is a mearsy killing.
Please react to Aurora Through the eyes of a child from Nidarosdomen concert..... It is one of the best, espesially for "beginners" in Aurora's world. Many fans requests their favorites, not thinking about maybe the song is not the correct for a "beginner". 😀
This IS the correct song in my opinion 😎
