Martin won a tough bracket that included Zeke Jones (ASU)(NCAA Finalist,World Champ,Olympic Silver),Ed Giese (Minnesota)( Multiple AA),Jack Griffith (Northwestern)(NCAA Champ),and Terry Brands (2x NCAA Champ,World champ and Olympic Medalist).
Martin was ranked #2 in the Nation and had 27-1-1 record during the regular season.He would later achieve All-American status at 1989 NCAAs in a loaded 118 lb bracket.
