And "Turning red" tells a story about the problem of generations and the fact that you shouldn't be afraid of some of your character traits, because they are part of you (at least that's how I interpret Mei-Mei's transformation into a panda). So it's a great cartoon. And certainly better than a life-action "Little mermaid"...
@@leonilakoriagina9636 Elemental is phenomenal. On that, I can agree. It does a parent vs individual conflict amazingly well. Turning Red, on the other hand, does not imo. In Turning Red, the mom is an overbearing psycho to the point that she’s unsympathetic. Mei’s obedience is depicted as just being what she was taught. It’s just how she’s conditioned to act. So, this conflict doesn’t seem deep to me and I can’t connect with either the mom or Mei. It doesn’t help that the movie is cringey 99.999999% of the time. Also, I find the whole red panda ability to be dumb. It’s cool if you like it, but for me Turning Red is my second least favorite Pixar movie. The only one that I dislike more is Cars 2. So many other Pixar movies do a wonderful job of making me connect to both the parent and child. In Elemental, I can connect to Bernie wanting to make a better life for Ember and Ember feeling indebted to her family. In Ratatouille, I can connect to Remy’s dad fearing humans and wanting his son to stay safe and Remy wanting to create something with his gift. In Finding Nemo, I can connect to Marlin being an overprotective father as Nemo was all he had left and Nemo feeling stifled. In Inside Out, I can connect to Riley’s parents and Riley dealing with a difficult move. Even in Pixar movies like Brave, I can connect to the parent and child even if the conflict is uncomfortable at parts.

In addition, the focus is on a female teenager, which can also complicate the connection between the viewer and the character. And as for the hyper-protective behaviour, I can understand it, because May's mother picked up this behaviour from her mother and she didn't know any other way, although yes, it doesn't justify her as a character. Also, Mei has quite a deep connection with her mother as we were shown in the beginning, and a "little" bit of the "golden child" syndrome in the beginning, so her behaviour is also understandable.

The way they hugged at the end when ahe thought he was going to die, i actually cried there, because it reminded me of a short anime where a guy is a spirit in the forest, and if touched by a human, he would dissapear, the girl made extra care not to touch him, but you could tell the two loved each other, even with him kissing her by putting a mask between them, but then a child runs into him and he starts fading away and opens his arms for a hug it seemed he waited for his whole life. He then dissapeared with it being a tragic romance, i cried then and i almost thought elemental was going to do the same thing until i heard Wades voice, but the deja vu killed my heart

Funny story: A couple of days ago it was my birthday 🎂and I invited my mom's side and had the party at my grandma's house. But, two of my cousins that are sisters and are around my age👭 (I'll call them Minne and Katherine, Minne is younger than Katherine and me but, she's not that far behind.) So we were watching Elemental🔥💧🌱🌪️ In the living room where everyone was, and whenever Wade and Ember did something romantic💖 we would be huddled together cuz we couldn't take the cuteness. And when they kissed💋 we were squealing😆 and kicking our feet. Also everyone thought we were crazy.😂
(Movie: inside out) We all miss bing bong he only wanted to be with Riley again But his rocket was destroyed and he said to Joy: "go save Riley!, take her to the moon for me will you" before fading :(
People hated on it for it's simplicity because some people don't understand that not every story needs to be an overflowing complexity of issues. Sometimes a basic story and beautiful execution is all that's needed.
Wade looks at Ember with so much love in his eyes... And Ember has the same look too once she realizes they CAN touch without hurting each other, and suddenly the one thing that made her scared to love him was gone, and all she wants now is to be close to him. Wade has moments where he can't take his eyes off Ember, watching her amazement, and he's impressed her with his congeniality, genuineness, and how highly he speaks of her to other people. He loves her talent, hardworkingness, and devotion to her family. He reminds her to free herself, and she shows him it's ok to fight for what, and WHO you love. As a result, she gets to pursue a career she loves with him by her side, and even after she yelled at him TWICE, one of those being in front of her whole community, he came back for her to show her how much he loves her.
