      Here's a couple of my favorites:
      1) External References to Envelope Components Only - With this setting you can use Envelope Components to drive your top-down design. It means you can avoid part to part relations being accidentally made when working in an assembly. Unfortunately if you make that mistake it has a dialog box loop that takes about 15 to 20 clicks to close out. Once they fix the SPR on it, it'll be a really nice feature.
      2) Alternate Position View in parts - Honestly, I'm not sure how often I'll use it, but for something like sheet metal, this looks very useful. You can now show the flattened and unflattened sheet metal part in the same view to clarify how the part will be bent.

      Matt Peneguy yeah I did hear of that SPR actually. It’s good that it got documented early in the service pack cycle.. hopefully they’ll fix in one of the early service packs!
      That’s actually a really good use for alternate position views. Very clever!

    As a machinist the "Z" being "up" and "down" is very nice!

    The thickening direction is a great one. I haven't seen in any sw2020 videos put that. Similarly the selection set functionality as well. Great work dear. The same case for the silhouette functionality on convert entities too. Thanks for unleashing those simple game changers.

      Thanks for watching and giving your thoughts! I try to put content in these videos that people will resonate with, so I'm glad you found a couple of useful features!

    After 20 years of using Solidworks I have switched to Fusion 360, for my own Projects and I love it. Fusion 360 is so Forward thinking.

    nice video! the add to selection set is available pre 2020. you just have to select the selection set first, then ctrl select the additional faces and the updated selection set option shows up

    What screen capture software do you use? Showing mouse clicks and keyboard inputs beside the screen is excellent.

      Thank you! I am planning to show all my mouse and keyboard input for all future videos, so this feedback is great!
      To get the mouse and keyboard inputs, I use a program called Nohboard, and I just have it onscreen when I record with SnagIt. Thanks for watching!

    I apologize for the editing mistake at 3:20, it just zooms in way too much to see the window, but basically I wanted to show how the old materials dialog had no search bar. If you've never seen it, just imagine the window at 3:50, but without a search bar haha

      It feels so good when that happens! I feel like SW Corp has been doing a better job listening to the users nowadays than in the past; I'm sure you weren't the only one facing these issues. Glad it worked out for you and thanks for watching!

    How to change origin direction

    My favorite thing that I stumbled across is weldment cut list cut direction relative to one another

    • @VirtualFlat
      @VirtualFlat  Před 4 lety

      That's a good one that I missed! I don't work with weldments that often, but that makes it a lot easier to mark down how you want a member to be trimmed.

    I believe the folder thingy is doable in the 2019 edition

    • @VirtualFlat
      @VirtualFlat  Před 4 lety

      Hey! Great comment! As it turns out, I did overlook that you can place features in existing folders in 2019, but specifically, you cannot drag-and-drop multiple features at one time. Check this quick video I made for more info:
      czcams.com/video/eO2hVEksOfM/video.html
      Basically, if you try this in an earlier version of SW, it will just say: "Cannot drag/drop multiple objects in the FeatureManager tree, only the last selected object is dropped."
      Thanks again for watching!
