  • Tesla Performance motor swap into a 2007 Mustang GT. Whether or not it's a sacrilege to sacrifice a perfectly nice 2007 Mustang with a 175,000 miles on it to make a slot car with a Tesla motor is yet to be seen. It should be an interesting build with I'm sure tons of comments from lovers and haters of the ICE and E-CAR world. All in all I hope to be able to educate some people to the time and cost of doing a conversion and the good, the bad, and the ugly. It should be a really fun adventure and I'm really jazzed to be the one doing it. I have been referring to it as the MUSKTANG but I'm not sure whether that's right or wrong.

    This has been my dream project for a long time. I'm incredibly excited to see that someone's actually doing it! I love this generation of Mustang, and I've always wanted an electric one. Definitely going to follow this build with great interest, and learn what I can for when I eventually convert one myself.

      Hi, The project has been a blast. I also love the retro look of the 2007 era Mustangs. I just took it to the Ford dealer today to get the airbag recall done and they did it without any hesitation. Seemed like all the mechanics in the dealership where all over the car and I answered tons of questions. Lots of fun.

    Did you use an HSR 057 controller? I am building a 66 Mustang Tesla swap. Love your stuff so far!

    • @Roadstercycle
      @Roadstercycle  Před 4 lety

      No I did not. Unless things have changed you can not buy a HSR 057 controller unless you buy a Tesla motor setup with it. Very expensive doing it that way. I bought my controller from Damien McGuire in Ireland. EVBMW webshop. It's a stand alone controller board paid about $500 for it. If the HSR 057 can be bought alone now I'd like to know. Let me know.

      @@eddyboh2723 Hi Eddy, I am not 100% sure that you won't have to do some manipulation of Canbus. I've never had a unit to test. It may be just as easy as having a relay to turn on the DC voltage to the air conditioner pump motor. I would need a unit to test.
