  • Looking for something a bit more traditional and retro on two wheels, with plenty of character, a great sound track and real heritage?
Check out the Kawasaki W800 Street, boasting all the updates the W800 Cafe ushered in, but in a more relaxed package, with the iconic air-cooled 360 degree parallel twin, dual rear shocks and non adjustable forks, spoked wheels and dual clock style dash.
Adding a dash of the modern is an LED headlight like you'll see on the Z900RS, while fueling is injected, and indicators - while not LED - are a more modern design.
18 inch wheels, with narrow tubed tyres combine with wide 'bars for extensive leverage, while ground clearance is plentiful for a spirited ride, with the W800 Street happy cruising at 80-100km/h, and offering a refined experience that doesn't need eye popping torque or knee down speeds to offer plenty of enjoyment.
If you're all about performance this probably isn't the bike for you, with 35kW of power and 66 newton metres of torque, and in a way it's a shame this bike isn't available for new riders in Australia due to capacity limitations in the LAMS scheme, as it would be an ideal first machine.
A big thanks going to Moto Hub in Castle Hill for lending me one of their demo machines. If you want to test ride the W800 Street, or check out the Kawasaki range, give them a call!
