  • How To Put A Professional Tip On In 9 Minutes.
    www.thesnookergym.com
    If your tip comes off in a match, you will generally be given 15 minutes to repair it or put a new one on.
    This video shows how I learnt to put a tip on that can be played with instantly - all in 2 minutes.
    I recommend Titan tips as they are harder than the Elkmasters I used to use. Elkmasters would always split, be too soft or too inconsistent throughout the box of 50 to put one on without it being very short and close to the ferrule when put on as new.
    Titan though plays like a new Elkmaster with no hardening required - and are very consistent.
    Pro Granite I have tried but I found them to be TOO hard to the extent that the tip did not grip the cue ball properly until it seemed to soften up after 5 days solid use - I have never had a tip get softer before!
    The layered tips I don't believe in despite all their marketing (even if they are made of flying pig skin and araldite!).
    I feel that with a layered tip, the contact point on the cue ball will always be an inconsistent blend of leather or the adhesive used to bond the layers together.
    I think it is marketing based rather than anything else.

    Very nice tutorial! I purchased a new tip for my snooker cue (my cue requires a 9 mm tip). I found that it was very difficult to align centrally because I had no room for error. Would I have been better off getting a 10 mm or even a 11 mm tip and then trim back so that it is parallel with the ferrule?

    • @TheSnookerGym
      @TheSnookerGym  Před 9 lety

      jazzyman99 Yes - or buy 3 X 9mm tips to give you two mistakes before setting it perfectly.... due to this reason I now use the liquid not the gel glue as the gel tends to spread the tip from side to side when I compress it into the ferrule. I have 9mm myself and prefer not to cut a tip down if I can help it.

    Hi there your ferrule seems knocked or damaged a bit at the top. One of my snooker ques doesn’t seem to have a flat surfice when I remove a tip. You recommend changing the furrel and even the surfice? I think the furrel is not 100% flat. Maybe an error from factory.

    • @TheSnookerGym
      @TheSnookerGym  Před 6 lety +1

      You can make any unflat ferrule flat by using a metal file... and this job is the most important part of putting a tip on

      You make it look so easy. The other thing is, this assumes that all ferrules are perfectly flat and horizontal. I don't think I have had a cue yet that is. Always looks wonky no matter what I do :-(.

  • @TheJascal
    @TheJascal Před 10 lety

    Consider using a cyanoacrylate accelerator once the tip is set in place. It will instantly cure and the chance it will slip out of place is zero. You just spray a little accelerator on the seam area and the whole joint will solidify. No need to soak the area.
