Regarding the Asian screen... I absolutely love the lady's admission she wasn't perhaps the best at housekeeping! Wonderfully British... reminded me of me Mom. Love you AR!

My moms cousin worked for 3m in minnesota but his hobby was building music machines. He had player pianos, organs, a one man band, he built an organ in the basement with the pipes going up in the walls of his house. He would play different types on music on whichever device best suited it, he played by ear and could play anything he heard once. Every room had several different musical instruments. He also repaired broken instuments and musical toys.

One of the largest private collections of automatic organs in the world is at Bill Nunn's Skyrock Farm in Minnesota, and he has a 1905 Marenghi 81-key dance organ in his collection, which has to be one of the nicest sounding fairground organs I have ever heard. A close friend has done several modern arrangements for this organ, all on laser-cut rolls, though this organ has been adapted during its restoration so it can play MIDI arrangements as well.

Fiona is so cute....."more likely, I'd end up as a scullery maid." I don't think so, Fiona!!

It surprises me that an ‘expert’ does not know that a ‘boat’ will fit on a ship but a ship cannot fit on a boat. The painting is of a ship, not a boat.

I believe that in naval terminology, ships go on top of the water and boats go under it.
I didn't serve in the navy, and may have learned this on QI, so I'm open to being corrected!

Look at the blind bade of ivory and bone..... (very rare material) and quality (frog and snail) mdke me think during todays period 2023... I'd add a zero to the value 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 to £20,000
Goodness me the cost or Riffles has risen like gold dust!

So I don't know about anyone else but I was absolutely cringing as I watched the woman announcer handling that army man's suitcase and letter with her bare hands...As I am sure the custodian with the white gloves on was doing also... to handle precious pieces of history, like leather, paper and wood leaves an imprint of skin tissue, sweat, etc. I just kept wanting to pull her hands off of everything and shut the lid.... such disrespectful behavior surprised me....the Antiques Roadshow is one of my favorite shows and of course I loved everything else about it.... just saying

On the US shows they seldom do those things I noticed.

it has been considered for some decades that the gloves are more destructive than the finger grease.

If Antiques Roadshow is one of your favourite shows, surely you might recognize Fiona Bruce who has been hosting the program since 2007. If that case survived going to the trenches, it will survive Fiona’s touch.

@@alecblunden8615 Serious question and interested in how that is the case?? Gloves being more destructive? Thank you for any reply.

@@Missditabomb well-washed hands are safer because you can more easily feel how delicately to hold the object if that makes sense… the oils are washed off the hands, so that is not a concern. Gloves allow for more rough handling because the senses in your hands are dulled, not to mention your hands are also now slippery.

The subtitles are shockingly bad and should really not be used on these videos.
