    Are you open to a couple of suggestions ? 1st you can mount that power supply underneath the board and save all that space on top. It's simply plugs into the patch bay. Also the screws that are provided to attach the patch Bay are self tapping metal screws. So they're a little hard to get started but they tap the non threaded holes in the board.
    Cool video !! Thanks !!

    I'm pretty sure the main reason behind the non-welded, single-sheet construction is because Pedaltrain is notorious for slapping other pedalboard companies with patent lawsuits lol.

    • @robbievalentine8239
      @robbievalentine8239 Před 5 lety +1

      agreed, welds dont break or take up space.

    • @perkristoffersson4153

      Nah, it's for cost. We could churn out loads of these in our punching/bending rig at work and no special competence would be needed beyond programming the rig. If you can design it to not require welds, relying instead on blind rivets and rivnuts, you're saving quite a lot. I like what they did with these designs.

    Why did you put the power supply on the top deck and not hidden underneath? It seems like you would have more topside real estate with it underneath.

    • @ArnoldPlaysGuitar
      @ArnoldPlaysGuitar  Před 5 lety

      TJ Nugent concious decision as i just don’t use pedals. Literally my board is just wah, OD, and gate. I don’t even use a pedal tuner. Just figured it didn’t necessarily matter to put it underneath in my case.

    How come you only have 1 massive pedal and 2 small ones on this board? Seems like overkill for so few pedals. Nice review!

  • @Unchainedmaple888
    @Unchainedmaple888 Před 6 lety +6

    Tbh I'll probably just stick to multi effects boards like the Line 6 helix or Fractal AX8. It's just much less complicated, easier to use and lug around.

    • @satansfittesleker
      @satansfittesleker Před 5 lety

      i use helix with this to get sounds that the helix doesent have. As well as using it in studio is genious! Helix as amp head and cab sim and pedals for the sounds that i want.

    • @therealjackfisher
      @therealjackfisher Před 4 lety +1

      That last thing you got wrong. They are not easier to use, they are way more complicated then single pedals with a knob. They are easier to carry arround and dont require any patch cables nor the spiderweb of small power cables. COSM amps and multifx take time to learn. I can throw at you a new multi FX you never used before, by the time you figure out how to make sound on it I will be finished building 100 pedal rigs from single pedals, all wired, adjusted and tweaked. I used GT-100 for the last 2 years and in the beginning I didnt like it. The board took for ever to learn. I recently found out that I have input lags because I use the wrong driver, the one everyone was telling me to use.. Well everyone was wrong. I found out yesterday that i can record DI and reamp. That I didnt know untill yesterday. I seriously thaught I had a shitty multifx, just because it have retarded menu that says fuck with me for ever.

      A board like this makes sense even with a device from Line6, Fractal etc. - I use a HX Stomp XL and a Morley Wah. Both will fit on this board very, very well. Using them completely seperately wouldn't be the same...neither on stage nor while transporting your gear.

    I just bought a warwick rockboard 'The Plate' to put underneath it. They provided two crappy, tiny little fragile plastic push-in buttons to secure it underneath and one of them arrived broken, because it was so fragile. Utterly useless I'm disgusted. I'll have to find another way to secure it to the bottom of the board - maybe by buying some nuts and washers. What a joke.

    • @ArnoldPlaysGuitar
      @ArnoldPlaysGuitar  Před rokem

      I actually just got a new board from them and experience the same. That cheap plastic part did exactly what a cheap plastic part can be expected to do. I used zip ties to secure it.

  • @XlouietheflyX
    @XlouietheflyX Před 4 lety

    One point with the power transformer: placing it to close to the Decimator can create a hum. At least my T-Rex power supplies do. Okay when under the board I have (Pedaltrain) but when on top it is definitely an issue. Sometimes the wah can be affected by power supply placement as well. I actually have the same George Lynch wah and I haven't tested that on this issue but I know it did cause problems with the Dunlop Crybaby From Hell that I used to own.

  • @deanchristensen3393
    @deanchristensen3393 Před 5 lety +1

    The power supply is designed to mount on the underside of the board. Also, you seem to be running audio cables through holes on the top portion of the board that are further away than you need to. It looks like that board just as too much realestate for your needs. Seems like it would be a waste to have to carry something that's bigger than you need. The way the board is made being rolled instead of welded helps to keep the cost down for the manufacture and consumer.
    No tuner on your board ? Please tell me you're not playing out somewhere, where people can see you and using a clip on head stock tuner ... You're not one of those guys are you ? Just playing with you, kinda .... enjoy !

    nothig against rolled metal, but quality welds are stronger than the original metal and wouldnt take up any space.
    those patch modules should be on the side of the board and not the back.

  • @therealjackfisher
    @therealjackfisher Před 4 lety

    It looks cool, but its a little expensive for just a metal plate. On top of that you gotta buy one of the avaliable mods and some stuff to hold your pedals in place and the bord becomes a rip off. I am sure that there is a cheaper solution of similar quality.

    • @MatthiasBuesing
      @MatthiasBuesing Před 2 lety +1

    Hey Arnold! I work for a brewery in metro ATL. We specialize in Belgian styles. I might can get my hands on a bottle of bourbon barrel aged Tripel for you.
    Also, I recently picked up a Jackson X Series 8 string DKAF8. It's similar to the SLAT 8 that you reviewed, but with passive pickups and mahogany "dinky" body. $200 dollars cheaper than the SLAT model. Seems like a great value to me! What do you think? Picked mine up for just over $450 used in perfect condition, so I am really loving it.

I have a pedaltrain right now which sucks as it falls apart and I need a modular setup easy to pack and go places in small package with MIDI and power.

    that explanation of the welding is so wrong :)
    routing cables under the board is a standard feature of any proper pedalboard.
    And yes, this setup with power supply and cables is great, but if you have to pay for it... well than that is a different story...
