This is one of the most visually astounding plays ever. It’s so amazing how the animal heads and the people wearing animal outfits and all the garb just works. Who ever dreamed up the costuming is a genius.
Julie Taymore. She won the Tony Awards for best costume design in 1998 for what she did.

Edit/Add = I was a costume design major in 2004 and she + her designs were almost a course on their own!
The costume is Magnificent and the music is so lovely.
I saw this on broadway several years ago - the costumes, the singing, the set etc..it’s all phenomenal!
I was fortunate enough to see it three times! I saw it once in New York when I was 10 and twice when it came to my town at ages 12 and 16 respectively!
It’s my favorite Disney movie/Broadway musical ever!
Watching this on my phone screen gave me the goosebumps, I can’t imagine what it would be like in person.

It was overwhelming and powerful in person. I took my two daughters and my mom, it was astounding and magnificent. If you ever have the opportunity to see it in person please do. It's such a beautiful memory to last a lifetime.
My husband and I are visiting New York for the first time ever next month and we got tickets to see this amazing Broadway show! So excited!!!

This is such a beautiful musical. My husband took me on a date night to see it and it was amazing. The beginning with the circle of life brought tears to my eyes. Everything is amazing, with costumes, scenery and music, this show is great for all. It definitely is a must see.
The sad part is that they only remember us when we sing, after this song they forget about us. We’re a beautiful and talented nation indeed!

It's all over the world, and they have one team that travels from city to city. I saw it twice when it came to Edmonton, Canada. I really hope to see it again :)
I saw three times (twice when it came to my town and once in NYC when I was 10) and it’s amazing! I hope I can see it again soon!

I've seen this live numerous times at the Fox Theater while working the show and it gives me chills every time.
In 2003 in Charlotte NC I saw the Lion King for the first time and fell in love with the show. I would go to work on Monday and book airline tickets to go see it in NYC and London the following year. 27 performances later it still takes my breath away. Next year for my 57th birthday were going to Columbia SC to see it and I can not think of a better show to have my boyfriend experience as his first Broadway show.
I saw the musical 3 times in the early 2000's. I saw them once in LA and twice in San Francisco. With the original cast each time and the original and amazing Rafiki every time as well. One of the times was with my autistic daughter and her friends for her Sweet 16th birthday.They perform in smaller theaters to give the audience the BEST experience and to benefit the theatres themselves which I fully support. When the life sized elephant and giraffe came trodding from the back of the theater through the audience, I grabbed my heart as it moved me so. My daughter and her friends LOVED IT! There were tears everywhere. They STILL talk about it. She's now 33.I'm awestruck each time I see this performed as I go back to how I felt then! IF you are reading this and you haven't seen it, I urge you to try to see at least once performance. It will change you and stay with you forever!
The Lion King "Circle of Life" performance moved me to tears. I could not understand what in the world was wrong with me until I read others experienced the same emotion. I initially saw the performances of "Circle of Life", on Late Night TV and also on the "2022", Thanksgiving Day Parade. I plan to see the Broadway Production this year. Thanks to all involved.
Saw the musical many years ago at the Lyceum in London. Never expected to get this emotional from this intro number but it did. Tears started streaming from my eyes as soon as they started singing. It was so beautiful and magnificent. Love how they put together this one in our modern world. ❤️
I've seen this twice and I could LITERALLY see this a hundred more and never get sick of it....such incredible talent....the costumes, makeup, the actors...everything was so amazing. I still give props to the giraffes.

Saw this two nights ago for my birthday, at Minskoff Theatre. Absolute dream come true, and this opening number made me tear up! Everything from the acting, to the singing, dancing, costumes, and storytelling are so perfect in this production! Can't wait to go back and see it again!
It saddens me that I can only hit the 'Like' button once....I have watched this performance at least 100 times, and still can't get enough ( I get teary-eyed every time) I mean, the Giraffes & Elephants... are you kidding me?!!1 SO profoundly beautiful, I can hardly stand it!!💞💕

It came to my city on tour once. It was absolutely amazing. The drum beat corses through you and you feel like crying. At the closing note everyone explodes with applause.

Fantastic! Having only watched it from a far seat at a West End production decades ago, finally here we get to see in close up the intricate details and beauty of the puppetry, costumes and make up of each character and creature here!
I 1000/10 recommend seeing this show on Broadway. I saw this show in 2013 and it’s hands down my favorite of all time
