    The absurdly long followup is finally finished and available here czcams.com/video/FjUpFpgg2p0/video.html
    We look at some games teased here in more detail, such as Resident Evil, and look at big new releases since like Stranded Deep and Depth.
    Plus a mini-feature dedicated to Megalodon in Gaming

      @@turkeygod6665 It's always somewhat on the cards, motivation dependant, etc. Most likely thing to happen next would be a dedicated Maneater special, like the Abzu one. There's story DLC in the works for that so probably worth waiting at this point.

    • @BrySkye
      @BrySkye  Před 9 lety +14

      Jeremy Dickson It's from the Sega Mega-CD version of Ecco the Dolphin. The soundtrack for the Mega-CD version was done by Spencer Nilsen which I ripped from my original 1993 disc.
      Searching Google for "Ecco the Dolphin CD Soundtrack" or similar should bring up MP3 results.
      Alternatively, you could find an ISO for the game itself and burn that as a CD, because the music is all standard Redbook Audio and will play in any normal CD player.

    About a month in the making, I finally finished my editorial video about sharks and how they are portrayed in video games, so here it is.
    I missed out on Shark Week by a few days, which is bad in terms of views but on the flip side, I really don't like what Shark Week has become with a lot of wannabe Steve Irwins and spending money on fake documentaries with fake evidence (and even a completely fake shark attack incident!) that try to fool people into believing Megalodon is not extinct or the existence of a 30ft+ super Great White Shark called submarine around South Africa.

    13:24 incorrect, it actually can be evaded, if you take one of the prop row boats out to sea by punching it to propel it and you stand just on the edge of it the sharks will sometimes try to attack but cant hit you if you step back at just the right moment, it can topple the boat sometimes though leading to the shark getting you when you fall in the water

    What is your opinion of Stranded Deep's sharks?

    • @BrySkye
      @BrySkye  Před 9 lety

      chase tegethoff ...Mixed, lol. At this point I'll probably be doing a 2015 update video around about July that would so far include Stranded Deep, Depth and Next-Gen GTA5 (with playable sharks).
      Anyway, the question. Visually, the models need a lot of work. To be completely redone actually, but I do believe that is the intention. Most of the 3D animal models in the game right now are just place holders. That may have improved a lot by July.
      Gameplay wise, well that's changing often. When I first got it, about... early/mid February, the sharks were kind of shy and cautious. Provided I kept them in my vision, they would keep their distance or swim away, only approaching or attack when I turned my back.
      Divers always say it's the shark you don't see that gets you.
      The last time I played it though, after the patch before sea forts were added, the AI was changed completely, making them really aggressive.
      Getting in the water with them, you'd be attacked almost immediately.
      It's a difficult balance to strike. Realistic shark behaviour, in that they largely ignore people or a hell of a lot more attacks would happen, doesn't make for such an exciting game.

    Gotta wonder what you think of Depth?

    • @BrySkye
      @BrySkye  Před 9 lety

      Honestly, not a lot. If only because I've never played it.
      I'm not _really_ a fan of games that are basically online multiplayer only, and FPS ones even less so.
      That's especially true for PC as none of my RL friends have decent, or even very recent, PC's.
      The old posse isn't even really set up for Xbox Live at the moment, which is why my multiplayer is currently limited to local-only when we can get together. That's why there has been videos of Smash Bros and Mario Kart.
      Depth isn't really the kind of game I'd want to play with a team of strangers and it's definitely not one I'd want to buy just to play against bots! :)
      But the concept seems solid enough.
      You can't really complain about portrayals when it's player vs player.
      I have, however, played a little of the more recent Stranded Deep, where the only actively hostile... well... anything at the moment, is sharks.
      That's got potential and whilst the AI is currently simplistic, it's quite effective in capturing the saying that "It's the shark you don't see that will attack you." rather than pure 100% hostile aggression.
      Kind of like the GTA5 part of the video, but even more wary provided you are facing them.

      It won't be re-made, but I've been working on a follow-up for over a year.
      A very very early teaser of the opening montage can be viewed here czcams.com/video/P05QlajY6Wg/video.html

      Shark fan of the sea ? Because I'm making a new one with new games. This video exists as-is, there's no point in including the same games again.

    As far back as Sly 3:Honor Among Thieves(PS2) I've been terrified of in-game sharks and sometimes other water creatures like crocodiles.
    Whenever there's a shark in the water while gaming.... Jesus. I have to pause and take a breath.
    And when sometimes on certain games they surprise/ambush me, holy shit it takes a lot of effort not to throw my damn control at the tv.
    Once, I even turned off the system and just said fuck it for the day.
    Let's the say, whenever there's water in a game, I'd Google if there are sharks.
    Currently, the games I've experienced sharks include:
    Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves on PS2. THEY'VE GOT SOME SCARY SHARKS DESPITE BEING CARTOOISH
    Far Cry: Primal (PS4) No sharks but don't like crocodiles that surprise me
    Same with Far Cry: 4 it's got crocodiles and man-eating fish.
    Far Cry 3 on PS4
    Assassin's Creed Odyssey on PS4.
    Call of Duty Ghost on 360
    And last but not least, GTA V
    Was not expecting sharks despite the realism. Fuuuuuuck that!

    In gta5 the shark looks like a tiger shark

    • @BrySkye
      @BrySkye  Před 5 lety

      It's officially a Tiger Shark, the 8th gen and PC versions of the game made that clear when it made them playable. Though I wouldn't agree that's what it looks like. Tigers tend not to be quite as short and stocky. to this day, I'd maintain that Endless Ocean 2 probably has the most accurate looking Tiger Shark in a game, despite being for the Wii.

      Monique - Uploaded in August 2014 :P That's a couple of months before Depth was released.
      But it is heavily featured in the 2016 follow-up video, along with a bunch of other games, new and old.

    • @BrySkye
      @BrySkye  Před 7 lety +1

      Of course they do.
      Would have made for a short game if it ended with failing to break out of the Aquarium though. ;)
      Though was also some back and forth, movies wise, at the time. There was a rip-off of Jaws called Orca, which opened with an Orca killing a Great White.
      That's part of why Jaws 2 shows a dead Orca carcass on the beach quite early.
