The only episode Mahidevran was genuinely happy🙂 I feel bad for her.
I loved the fact that with each season the colors and the lightning gets darker
Yeah they prepare the coming mood of last season.. darkness, black and sadness.
I thought in the later seasons, the lighting, atleast in the palace, looked a little more authentic for the time period. In the earlier seasons it looked too bright inside.
"Mahidevran" and "Hurrem" are such unique names. not many in the world would have such names.
If you woull have 2 daughters in the future name them first mahidevran (bcz she was 1st in history also) and than hurem.

Mahidevran is such a pretty name
When I started to see the series, Mahidevran was difficult to spelling! Hürrem in my language (Greek) spells "Hara", which means "joy"!
I wish they had designed more gowns in those violet and purple shades for Nur. They look so stunning on her. In my opinion that entire outfit was one of the most gorgeous in the series.
Also, is the same actor that plays Baby Mustafa, plays Mehmed?
No Mehmet and Mustafa had different actors in the show while they were little kids
Alex Pirela yes Nur should have the most beautiful gowns she needs help
Alex Pirela Nur had all the best outfits and jewelry and hair do’s.Still she had a mouth that was ugly.poor acting
@@sallybarnes365 that last sentence was the stupidest thing i’ve heard today and clearly you know nothing about acting. Nur isn’t a bad actress, her acting along with Selma & Nebahat were the best.
@@sallybarnes365 You sound a bit crazy .How is her mouth ugly or her acting poor. You are clearly too stupid to achieve anything worthwhile on screen or in life in general.
The way Such Suleyman welcomed Mahidevran showed that something has already been wrong between them
Exactly!!! I saw this too!
It's unbelievable, how quickly Suleyman forgot all this wonderful moments he lived with Mahidevran and treated her as a stranger!
And 5 children he had with Mahidevran!
Last child was born when Suleiman already had his first child with hurrem..
@@retke922 uhhh he had 5 kids with hurrem not mahidevra, he MAY have had a daughter who died before but mustapha is there only son.
He had children with other women before mahidevra with gulfem (or who Gulfem represented in the show) who sadly all died.
Mahmud - 1512-1521
Mustafa - 1515- 1553
Murad - 1519-1521
Raziye unknown -1521(?)
In addition sulieman lost Abdullah from Hurrem.
If she had Mahmud Mahidevra would have conceived at only 11 years old, unlikely to survive or go un damaged such as Lady Margaret Beaufort mother of king henry as an example.
@@charlottemunday7311 he had 3 or 4 children with mahidevran which are not series. 2 sons and 1 or 2 daughter
Because she was a stranger. Her behavior pushed him away
Actually mahidevran wasn’t that important figure she was just a khatun not even a sultana her status stayed same even after suleymans crown prince died and mustafa became one
Dear God Mahidevran is stunning ❤️😍🔥
This is the only episode where mahedevra is happy
No love left between mahidevaran and Sultan Suleman it seems
My heart breaks for Mahidivran
@@mariavi33 Oh I know... but just like the BBC series The Tudors, this was basically a soap opera based on history. Of course they had to throw in a "cat fight" love triangle. I do love the show love the color and pageantry of it but real life history is so much more interesting isn't it?
@@mariavi33 EXACTLY!! This bothers me so very much. .. in my spare time I am a living historian and historical re-enactor who specializes in the American Revolutionary period. So many of these historical movies and series have done so much of a disservice to the figures they are supposed to represent. Every event that I do it is something we fight constantly. The only saving grace is that sometimes they can drive people to pursue history and to really find out the truth. Honestly I will tell you that that is what magnificent century did with me. And I find the history far better than the show
Maria Vibo Mahidevran and Hürrem were only competitive through their sons to see who would take the throne. Suleiman and Mahidevran were never lovers, in fact she wasn’t even the mother of the eldest prince, Suleiman has two older princes who died off, giving Mahidevran and Mustafa the power. But Mahidevran was never a lover of Suleiman’s, it was always and only Hürrem.
@@mariavi33 u should check the chinese and kdramas too , it tells abt many empires , king and queens of that time.Ofc if you are interested in asian history
@@mariavi33 it was power to, and control
True he may have loved her or had love for her, but look at how he acted when she first arrived. He was distant.
So sad mahidevran was always with mustafa and then she lost him
Mahidevran didn't have to be so rude to Gulfem
I think she is rude to Gulfem in the begging era of the show because Gulfem was Suleyman's first concubine and gave birth to twins. ( But they died as babies)
@@kokos1209 she is! I think either in the same episode or a following one, she tells Gulsha that Gulfem was Suleman's first woman and she just hangs around the harem now.
I mentioned that Mahidevran did not have to be rude to Gulfem now. Obviously she wasn't treated like a queen by either valide or suleman and it irritated her... I find Mahidevran as a person who wants to be constantly praised and worshipped...
While I didn't like it either, I sort of found it more realistic then their odd, instant friendship without explanation that came later.
it shows Mahidevran was a loose on many levels. Gulfem was the confidant and Hurrem the lover. Mahidevran the rejected
She was rude but not to a great extent.
Mustafas words here are so sad he asks mahidevran how he wont find her and mahi says she will always be with him.true until he went off to suleiman
I don’t understand he went to who
Even the atmosphere was so warm including the lightings as well back then. Every thing has changed now. Toxic
Back then when everyone is good and innoncent. I miss the old Hatije. If only she never get married to Ibrahim on this series...😌😌
Yes she went crazy and a bit evil
Her marriage with ibrahim in real life was actually still in debate because there were no evidence that proved their marriage
It's so strange how they introduced Mahidevran. She was "a slave" (those crazy times :/), a concubine, so she and Hurrem were equals, but they treated Hurrem horribly, even after she became a sultana, and Mahidevran like a queen or someone like that. :/
Yeah I just thought the same... Idk maybe because it was his mother who chose Mahidevran as his concubine (the same way Hurrem later in the series was chosing her sons consorts) and bcs of that they all favoured her. And maybe bcs Mahidevran gave birth to his first son and crown prince. Or maybe bcs this is a show and they just wanted to add some spice and drama.
@@kokos1209 That's an interesting explanation. I think both solutions might be true. But still it's a bit strange how Suleyman's mother keeps saying about traditions and then break them only to humiliate Hurrem. :/
@@Kurczak00 Yeah... They probably added it for the drama.
No..not just a slave....she was the first women of Suleiman, his first chief consort, the Hasiki sultan, mother of the eldest prince of the dynasty therefore she was the second of the position in haram after valide sultan. Unfaithful Suleiman cheated and ignored her after becoming the Sultan and ascending the throne and later gave the Hasiki tittle to Hurrem or lets say Hurrem was smart enough to seize it from Mahidevran.
@@slnjaiswal Uh not, not exactly. The only problem with this show is that it's historically wrong on many segments, even if it's greatly entertaining. Here's the historical fact: Mahidevran Hatun was not and could not possibly be a Haseki Sultana, because the title 'Haseki' was created by Sultan Suleyman especially for Hurrem Sultana. Before Hurrem became the Haseki Sultana, that title did not exist. The Haseki Sultana means the woman who is legally and officially married to a Sultan, and Hurrem was the first ever concubine to actually marry an Ottoman Sultan. And also, Mahidevran has never officially held the title Sultana, her name is written like 'Mahidevran Hatun' everywhere in the old documents and 'Hatun' means lady. Also, before Hurrem became Haseki, and after she gave birth to the prince, she and Mahidevran were completely equal in status. They were both slaves (and a concubine remains slave until the Sultan frees her, and Suleyman never freed Mahidevran but did free Hurrem later) and both gave birth to a prince. In Ottoman Empire it wasn't about the firstborn prince, it was about the prince who will success the throne. If princes are of similar age, they would fight for the throne after (or even before in some cases) their father dies. It didn't matter if you are the firstborn prince, you couldn't success the throne if your brother kills you. If you fight your brothers and win, you show your competence to rule and be the next Sultan.
I hope this helps. (I study history)
Damn Hatice was GORGEOUS here. And Gulfem is a boss.
Fun fact
Mahidevran the only character here, who lived more then 80 years...Consider that in 16th century was bad medicine..
But most of it as a dirt poor rejected being.
@@kayodewa well in her last days, Selim II forgive her and gave her an important amount money to live.
@@jorgechavarria4799 So she still lived most of her life in sorrow and poverty. Watching her son buried outside in Bursa, the worse insult that can be leveled on an Ottoman prince, even Bayezid and his sons were buried indoors.
I hope is better than others so she did lived.... In her perspective she's right
She had lived 81 years
I love those flashbacks
It showes he was not forced to be with mahi and really wanted to be with her and loved her
In real history, he didn't ingore her so much, like in the series.
Mary Mf flash backs aren’t real
@@sallybarnes365 Wut? Of course they are. I know you dislike Mahidevran and that's perfectly valid, but stop putting halfassed, borderline absurd accusations.
Mary Mf no
@@sallybarnes365 ? Of course the flashbacks are real. They intend to showcase what the character presented has gone through in the past. By your logic, if flashbacks aren't real, the flashback with Valide saving Süleiman from the poisoned caftan also isn't real, which is flat out untrue since we have him mention it many times. To undermine the flashbacks, means to undermine the entire series. I know you dislike Mahidevran, but is it so difficult to accept that perhaps, Süleiman has felt something for her once, even if it wasn't love, just passion? (IMO) No, it doesn't. Besides, this flashback in no way downplays what happened later - SS forgot about Mahidevran right after Hürrem fainted in his arms and there begins your favourite self-proclaimed "fairytale-esque" love story.
Despite everything that came later, I still love that little flashback between Mahidevran and Suleiman. It's interesting too because, if the show were being accurate instead of trying to depict that it was natural for harem women to continue to sleep with the sultan after the birth of a son, this is probably exactly how Suleiman would have treated Mahidevran. With warmth and respect, but nothing overtly intimate.
She had another daughter with him she was born a few mounths after bayazid sulaiman didn't care about this rule
@@kikima258 If you mean Mahidevran then I don't think that's correct? The only children born during Suleiman's reign as sultan were Hurrem's. He had another daughter from *before* he became sultan, Raziye, but she died with his other older princes a little after he became sultan and it's unlikely her mother was Mahidevran.
@@Redluna32 theire are other historians who claim otherwise why would they tell such a lie? It makes no sense it's very possible she was her daughter as sulaiman monogamous relashinship with hurrem only started after theire marriage
@@kikima258 If you can find me sources for those historians I'd be more inclined to believe you. And, actually, in the rush of this shows popularity, many fake historians came out of the woodwork to edit Wikipedia with rumors and the like---many of which have since been disproven. So, if you're asking why people would lie...because they want to?
Regardless, there are two reasons to make this highly unlikely, the first being that there are no marks in the privy purse registers of a daughter being born to the sultan around this time. The only mark we see in the registers is the recorded death of a princess in 1521 and, from then on, there are no other princesses mentioned outside of Mihrimah. The second hint is how Mahidevran is listed in these registrars as only the mother of Mustafa and has a lower daily stipend then the other women in Suleiman's princely harem who had given birth to his older sons. If she were the mother of another child, we would have seen an increase in this allowance for care of that second child alone.
@@Redluna32 can you please give me the sources where the private registers are mentioned? I would love to have a look on them and get to know the details

Yeah she said to hurrem 'one day you're going to make a mistake and hand the new woman right into his arms with your own hands'. Hurrem was a tough contender but Mahidevran did herself no favours!
THE TRUTH IS TOLD
@Creative- she isn’t a sad whiny creature . Henry the 8th & Suleiman had similar personalities. Spoilt & groomed to think they were demigods . Hurrem was just a bit more aggressive & manipulative to get her way . If Suleiman showed fairness he should have treated them equally to avoid the hatred & drama . But some men who practice polygamy are like this . He didn’t even bother when Princess Isabella went missing .
Mahidevran is evil.
@@DimSK. Sure she is like Hurrem is an angel. Pls hold off that silly talk. She isn't evil. Who has she killed in the series so far? She had Mehmet poisoned to protect the throne for her son. You think Hurrem won't do same. They play all these games cause of power struggle. Hurrem did far worse in these series over time. She became the monster her mum's ghost warned her about.
Mahidevran was showing her true colours when she was around people who were lower rank than her eg Gulfem and her servants. Hurrem was always respectful to those nice to her.
Mahidevran was bothered by valide here and nobody actually like their rivals. But don't try to paint Hurrem as saint. Hurrem wasn’t always respectful to those whom was nice to her. She used Nigar and her daughter when Nigar was the one who helped Alexandra the most to became Hurrem. She even burns Gulnihal face now don't say this Gulnihal betrayed her there was nothing like betrayal because Gulnihal was Suleiman's slave not Hurrem's and she has the full right to go in Suleiman's chamber. Hurrem unjustly dismissed a slave girl without any investigation who was blamed by Mihrimah to broke her crown and there was many more like this. So no one was angel in the palace specially Hurrem.

Exactly in harem system it is sultan who is to blame as he lost interest in one women when another arrive but unfortunately not only then but even now women blame another woman to "steal" their husband or boyfriend. I mean no one can "steal" someone from you if they don't want to go to another person.

Me too.....
How easily suleiman forgot all those precious moments and his first wife after he met that witch
Every concubine was kidnapped and separated from their families. She was no difference than her hotness
I would have never been in her place first of all and second thing with revenge in return one only get revenge and hatred. Greed for power and position destroys everybody. And if I would have been in suleimans place even if I would have been attracted to other lady would have never ignored my first wife and mother of my child. And referreing hurrems nature she was the one who sparked the idea of stealing her husband as she discussed in the very episode. And being a loyal wife every woman is concerned about losing their husband specially if there are women around who are willingly ready to lay down with the king for the never ending greed of becoming the chief consort and also securing their position in future if they bear a prince. Guess u r not aware with the staring episodes. First do some home work and then go a debate you silly woman. And btw what would you do if you find out that your husband was sleeping around with another woman bearing children with her and ignoring you and your child. Then you would realise. May be it is ok for you to give away your husband for another women. But in our culture and religion it is unacceptable we consider such woman as witches and would rather slay them if they dare to look into our husband
And also sleeping with the king brainwashing him against his family doing conspiracies against his loyal people and his crowned prince what type of revenge is this? This is karma she had to suffer because she was a sinner. Get it. Had it been about revenge then she should have conspired to slay the king who was responsible for the loss of her family and fiance. But after seeing the palace and the wealth she easily forgot everything. But this was not for love but for the never ending greed she had within her.

She was a princess from Cocasis.
@@retke922 Nope, royalty from other countries was not permitted in the harem during this time because concubines could only be enslaved women.
Free women under ottoman islamic/muslim law could not sleep with a man unless married, additionally they used this system so there wouldnt be royal ties to other famillies who could influence the sultan or try to "puppet" any offspring who might come to the throne.

I'm not establishing the rules of islam and muslims today or how they changed over the next few centuries.
Ottomans picked and choosed and changed stuff as they wanted (Sulieman breaking the mould to marry for example, Ahmed refusing to execute his brother later for another).
@Hope Logan I should have specified, you leave 1 word out (slave) and suddenly everyone has to comment.
Mahidevra was likely not married/royal (like Ayse who has clear origins, she is mother os Sah and Beyhan) as she recieved only 4 aspers per day (according to the historical records) which as a free woman and a mother would have entitled her to much more.
There were 3 other women listed (i forget) who were recieving 3 aspers if i recall (its been a LONG time since i saw the archives).

You're an Alpha lioness...or you don't exist. God, I hate this dynamic.

Suleiman and Mahidevran had a very peaceful life before Hurrem seduced him..
