My first introduction to Goenitz was SVC Chaos. During the first round I couldn’t even touch him, he just kept dropping Kokos. Bullied me out of the first bar. Then during round 2 he kept doing the handful of wind scythes jump counter. And, just when I thought I had an opening available to rush him, he performed the move at 0:37. Double perfect left me in awe and I knew, I immediately knew I had to unlock and master this character. 3 months later he helped me unlock Athena and Arrermer. I have always respected his power since. One of the greatest, if cheap, fighting game bosses ever made.
hearing goenitz theme in '96 makes me very nostalgic, reminds me of my kid's days when i went to the arcades and play it with my brothers, in the summers i went at least 2 or 3 days a week and spent a lot of money in there hahaha
Imagine SNK creating a boss character, make him appear only twice in the arcades (KOF 96 and SVC Chaos), and hardcore players (and posers who weren't born then yet) still awaited his return more than 2 decades later.
He was back in KoF 2002 before SvC at the very least, and then six years after that. Still quite a bit of time before he became playable again and he is one of my favorites.

In KOF 96, he was OP but boring to play. Just spam his Koko Desu Ka and he wins easily. SVC Chaos improved and defined Goenitz's gameplay then they reused that version of Goenitz for KOF 2002 (PS2 port) and KOF 98UM and 2002UM polished his gameplay even more.
I know 'Trash Head' is more iconic but when I think of Goenitz, I think of 'Color' (Forest Stage Theme) from SVC Chaos 🎼 Love that track! Speaking of that game, that is where Goeniko (a female version of Goenitz because of Demitri's Midnight Bliss) made her debut. A character so popular especially in mugen. Finally after many years Goeniko became an official character appearing in KOF98UMOL I would love to see Goeniko becoming her own character and appearing in future games 😊
I have this idea since the moment the boss challenge was announced. SNK needs to fill up this mode with more content and not only original chars, that obviously can't be created in a fast pace. Like SF5 had a similar mode but built only with exclusive unplayable versions of existing chars like Bison, Chun Li, Ryu, etc. That's good enough. The result is that this challenge mode is being severely underused, but there is a big potential for Kof, even more than for SF. SNK could make: KoF 13 Kyo (with fireball and air super), Mr Karate Ryo, Nests Benimaru (with the KoF 02 electric ball super), Classic Ralf (with command grab and 1 hit kill punch super), Orochi Iori, Orochi Leona, Nightmare Geese, etc.
