    We traveled to Poprad, Slovakia for one reason, to hike in our first national park outside of the United States! This particular hike came with some perks. The beginning of the hike was a chairlift and then a cable car taking us halfway up the mountain which made our ascent an amazing and not so exhausting experience. After cresting the mountain for spectacular views, our descent ended at a beautiful mountain lake with a chalet. The chalet had incredible food and affordable beer. Nothing could make a hike better.

    The guy you filmed hiking with a beer keg at 5:38 is a mountain carrier (horský nosič). They supply the mountain cottages with food, water and beer and people pay them the utmost RESPECT. Not many people are willing to hike a mountain with up to 40kg of supplies on their back all day XD. Im glad you liked the Tatras.

    After the hut you hiked down the yellow route which doesn't go to where you started and it isn't very nice to walk on as it's the supply road for the hut. The better option is to get off the yellow route about halfway down. There is a sign on a pole that shows you where to do this. You hike 10 minutes on the green route, then turn left onto the red route which is nice and pretty. That takes you to where you get off the first cable car. You can then hike down the road for a mile to where to the cable cars start, or there are some gravity go-karts you can ride down for 10 euro (definitely worth it).

      The camera is the same we always use. We primarily use the large, Sony a6500. You can see my (Nathan's) Sony ZV-1 in this video though and its really nice quality. It's smaller and you don't have to purchase any additional lenses for it.

    That ski lift is so worth it! The first part of the trail is very boring. Taking that ski lift will also save you a lot of time and energy for the rest of the hike, which can be challenging at times. I had no regrets taking that ski lift on my way back, too 😅

    My fiancé and I are taking our Honeymoon to Slovakia and Hungary for 12 days this August so not too far away! We want to go hiking in the Tatras for at least 2 days, it looks beautiful. Do you know of any backpacking trails or the rules on camping in the national park?

    • @SOSASATSUNRISE
      @SOSASATSUNRISE  Před rokem

      I am not sure about the rules for camping but you can sleep in the chalet if you book a spot! I think there may be more chalets in the mountains you can hike to. Most people hike the Poland side of the Tatras. There may be more options there. Congrats and have so much fun on your honeymoon! 🍾🎉

    • @indigo3173
      @indigo3173 Před 10 měsíci +2

      No wild camping is allowed or recommended, unless you feel comfortable with bears, wolfs and wildcats. You have several designated campsites, some free and others still cheap with good conditions. If hiking is the goal, I would recommend a place called "ATC Tatranská Štrba", in the middle of the park and with many surrounding trails. Ps- don't take the cable car... The point of hiking, should be to hike.

    • @MiSHeQ
      @MiSHeQ Před měsícem +1

      @@cavitecheckpoint Above all, we're talking about a national park here with general protection of nature so it's simply forbidden to do it. Some reasons: The water from tarns are source of a drinkable water(for both people and animals), in some fish live and other animals, they are still unpolluted(with a few exceptions close to chalets which kind of highlight the purpose why to keep them protected), esthetic issue - seeing tons of people in the pristine nature swimming and sunbathing is not what the majority go to these places for.
      I personally agree if one or two people would bathe there(without soap etc.) nothing would be wrong with it, but people are people and as with everything else, the rule is there because of people who behave irresponsibly. If one could, then many more would.
