But start with a high grade kit.
Rx78-2, zaku-II, earthree, OOdiver, barbatos lupus, graze, justice Knight, vidar, Wing, Leo, turn a are all good starter kits.
For your first pick one that you like the look of really. That's a passion thing.
If you want to get better. Watch some CZcams "ultimate gunpla starter guide"
Best thing I can say about tips. Get good nippers. And do the 2 snip technique. Your kits will be a lot cleaner.

@@aurnknight2813 30 minute missions are also good first bandai model kits, they are cheaper and more simple to build but less detailed and probably less sturdy than the gundam kits already suggested to you.

The legs can actually go farther, but being a model kit, it's excusable that you didn't try to force the joint to go farther
Edit: Not only the legs, but the torso can crunch even farther forward. I've only seen Japanese reviewers do it. It's kinda like extending the torso joint like the RG Nu Gundam

@Clout Sukker I have it on USA Gundam Store. They were the only place not sold out when I put my order in.
The left arm's been seeing some consistent loose-ness issues from what I've seen on other youtuber's videos, and I think the reasoning behind it is that the mold will be recycled again to make the awakened form. Maybe there'd be a whole spare arm so you can choose to display it with the clear yellow arm or the normal one, but in awakened colours.

The arm comes off very easily because there's going to be a expansion pack with the human arm
But if you want to keep it eva, just take like plastic cement or glue and coat the peg with a thin layer and let it dry

I had the same problem with the RG line up until the Unicorn released. Ever since that kit, they've been amazing builds with so few gripes they constitute as low-tier nitpicks.

I finished the RG Unit 03 yesterday with the Enchanted Shield of Virtue and it looks really cool. That shield is one serious chunk of plastic as well.

It's the rebuild version though so it'll likely be for Third Impact Unit-01

@danwithaplan having the kit myself, the problem with the loose arm is simple. The black stem (c14 and c15 on the runner) in 3:51 is made from 2 parts and likes to split, gluing those fixes the problem.
With those glued, the notch on the peg of the elbow now locks.

the old mg style rebuild had those cuff like parts that wrapped around the rubber parts and would split whenever you bent the arm, similar for the old hg and don't quote me on this but I think even the pg 01 had something like that. not to mention that those rubber arms were crap but that's not the point.
I haven't tried the kotobukiya models ( I think they were from kotobukiya?) but they should've solved the issue by giving them normal arms
@@npc6817 The Kotobukiya Eva models do use normal arms, but sadly the NGE Unit 01's elbow joints are extremely fragile for some reason; both elbows on my kit easily broke after bending them once.

I felt the same way and you know what changed it for me. Taking a couple months break and not buying anymore. Then one day I picked up a kit to straight build (just for fun) and suddenly I got my spark back, since then I've painted the following MG Zaku warrior, MG Rick Dom, MG Alex 2.0 and the RE Zaku kai and I'm loving it again.

No joke! I picked Tamiya's M4E3A8 Sherman as my first ever model kit. Some of those pieces look like little shavings and if you drop them on carpet you'll probably never find them again!

I like it when a figure has every part of it that's supposed to be paint, a separate piece instead. It makes me worry less about paint chipping or getting new stickers (of which I never really liked in the first place.) I wish there are more figures that do this instead of painting.
I know you don’t really enjoy building much anymore, but I felt it would be cool to mention, the Rg, real grade line now is amazing, the premolars inner frame is gone, and it’s more like the inner frame from the master grade 2.0 you built awhile back, it’s amazing now!

One of the ways to tighten up the loose bits is to place tissue in or around that loose part

Bought this set after watching your video and you perfectly reviewed it. I got the figure much after watching the video and forgot some things while building it. The instructions make you use the horn without the green built in. So me being an idiot listened, and the horn kept falling out. To solve this issue I used superglue. Upon finding the better horn I tried removing the superglued horn... Ended up breaking the headpiece and had to just use more superglue to fix it and now I am stuck with a stickered on green horn. The next issue of the bicep was easily fixed with superglue. This time it actually worked. If I sound stupid for super gluing it, that's because its my first ever model kit. This probably took me around 5 hours to build and I love the outcome. I didnt want a massive figure, because I like having her just chill on my desk in different cool positions. Nice vid, but a bit too critical for me, as one of your main issues can be solved with a little glue.
This was so impossibly hilarious and entertaining for both the gunpla fan and the Eva fan. My hat is off to you, sir.
The RG exia and RG red frame are very solid.

your first review of eva unit 01 is the reason why i started evangelion. it was also the reason how i eventually found myself on the seinen part of anime and manga. you transformed me into a man of culture. words couldnt describe how thankful i am. i hope youre doing fine.
In order to tighten those joints, you can out a thin layer of tamiya thin cement on the inner frame, and wait to dry at least 8 hours. Depending on how tight you want it will depend on how many layers you want. Although this usually helps mostly with polycaps an ball joints so im not sure if it will work on that weird arm joint on eva 01
Oof, that kind of bicep assembly is one of the things that made me drop model kits a few years ago. I'm amazed they're still doing it. Very impressed at the colour separation though, that's getting into Kotobukiya levels of "this part must literally be handled by two needles being held as chopsticks"

The mouth does close all the way, but you didnt clean the undergated part on the back and seat it properly... I know because I had realised during assembly.

Honestly, I've been debating gluing the bicep and not the peg part. The bicep would still rotate from the main shoulder joint (where it should) and hold firm.
But I've been somewhat hesitant.
If you do go for it, find a glue that's ok for PS and ABS! I noticed on the runner (spree/tree) it's a combination if both plastics. Tamiya should be fine or loctyte, I've used both on both and had no issues, but always test on a spare runner or left over parts from other kits :)
I know why they designed it like this, I'm pretty sure bandai is going to produce an awakened version with the clear arm.

You also have to remember it's the unicorn gundam, more specifically the MG Unicorn gundam which was never really a solid kit to begin with
put bottom side of the model box on your desk and build your kit over it. Even if you drop something, there's now 90% chance that part will fall into the box. Problem solved.

RG unicorn is overrated
so for the arms falling mine are now stucked and perfectly fiting/moving, as it's 2 pieces when you insert the forearm in, it splits, just use cement glue on this part for it not to split and add some acrylic paint on part that goes in to make it thicker.
Now if I add tension on the arm it's the hand coming, hope it helps.

Jobby just to let to you know (if you don't know already) The RG line have really stepped up there quality in the past couple of years I think the quality was steped up starting with the RG Sazabi. And I understand if you don't feel like building any more gundam model kits or model kits in general, And has some one that sparse amounts of kits I understand if you don't want to build/review kits in the future.

I just finished this one, and she's great save for the bicep.
thus this makes it the tallest RG kit to date, also Jobby is missing a lot on how RG kits progressed so far, the older RG kits has issues due to the pre-built inner frame that will loosen up with time and turns into a wreck while the newer more recent RG kits decided to abandon the pre-built inner frame concept and take cues from MG kits with inner frames that you build yourself which resulted in a more solid construction, try checking out the RG Sazabi and Nu Gundam and you'll see why.

A way I find to tighten joins and swivel pieces is to do a layer of plastic cement on the piece the peg/join is inserted, let it fully dry then test the piece and if its still to loose do another layer of cement, keep going until you're happy with the tightness.
this is coming from someone who builds Warhammer kits so it works for me on things like tank turrets & sponsons that swivel so its worth a shot

While it makes actually getting the pegs back in a little bit harder, a little super glue around the pegs tightens them significantly to where you don’t want to throw something. I did it on a few points on a transforming Real Grade Gundam I recently built, and it helped a lot is both possibility and transformation. If you find a better method, use it, but it worked enough for me.
Not sure if this has been said yet but for tightening joints like the bicep I generally use a little bit of white glue, once it’s dried it adds more friction/bulks out the peg, however don’t go to crazy with the movements otherwise the glue will come off the peg and you will have to reapply, but great video man, it’s fun to see you review model kits even if you do bash them.
