- A number of people who knew John, both medical professionals and those from road racing have asked me to post this. I hope those who loved and admired him are happy for me to share this piece on youtube. I never met him myself but it is very clear from the memories others have shared that he was a very special and very generous man.
Tributes have been paid to Dr John Hinds, one of the "flying doctors" of Irish road racing.
He was involved in an accident while providing medical cover at a Skerries 100 practice session, the Motorcycle Union of Ireland said.
He died in hospital in Dublin on Saturday.
Dr Hinds, 35, from Tandragee, and his colleague Dr Fred McSorley were dubbed "the flying doctors" of Irish motorcycle sport.
He was a consultant at Craigavon Area Hospital in County Armagh.
Dr Hinds provided medical care at motorcycle race events
He regularly worked at the North West 200 motorbike races in County Antrim. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
We use his lectures around the world in EMS education.
Steve Cole I was a emt basic student and are instructor had us listened him.
Do you have any links to his lectures? I would love to watch them

R.I.P. I can honestly say that if I crashed my bike id pray DrJohn be the first on the scene. Many riders out there surely wouldnt be around today if it werent Dr John.
The man deserves a
statue/monument I'm memorial at the very least. Absolutely a terrible loss.
"it is foolish and wrong for us to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived".
George S. Patten.
john lucier well said
john lucier I was actually truly thinking the something in my head. He was a great man
I'd rather just thank the man for doing what he did.
Crimson2006 A legend.
god has no part in it, we decide who we are, and Dr John is a great man in his own right.
A devastating loss.
Nothing short of a hero and he should be made a saint. RIP John, you will never be forgotten.
When you consider that he truly brought downed riders back from the dead it would be the right thing to do. He would make a fine patron saint.
It's really to bad that when men such as Dr. Hind pass that they can't see just how many people that may have never even been in the same breathing space as them have such admiration and respect for them and what they do for others. RIP to a great rider and a great doctor and human being, glad to have been able to see you work in the field.
Which ignorants gave John Hinds the "thumbs down" ? John was an exceptional example of human compassion, paired with 1st line emergency skills. He saved many lives by being at the crash site first, and the racers trusted him to be there for them when needed. The 'flying helicoper service' in his memory would be the greatest and most fitting tribute to this selfless & humble man. RIP John Hinds, may God bless you & provide you with the bike of your dreams.
Florian Wolf John is gay
Alex St so he could be a transvestite & still have twice the manhood your Internet troll-self will ever have
Matt Muensterman you are hurting my feelings.I'm going to call the police
You are an oxygen theif
ofc its a german...
I don't know much about this man, but I can tell he was a magnificent fellow.
Ring Jäger I
you could watch him talking about traumas in those races such a funny guy when you check his comens and see rip and its like fuck this world
People who think that road races should be banned all together, I guess...
A sad loss. R.ide I.n P.eace
RIP Dr. Hind the world will miss your dedication to motorcycle racing, humour, video's and the lives you have saved and changed, many thanks.
rip john…..thanks for what you did for our sport….you will be missed for a long time sir x
An inspirational figure. Smart, emotionally connected, motivated and articulate. I hope he inspired others to fill his boots and continue saving others who race :)
Doing what he loved , That's the ticket, God speed Dr. May the track above provide you the longest most smoothest journey ever take you place alongside Joey, and the rest of pace setters of this sport.
There's not enough people like this
Still not forgotten!
Massive respect for this guy, what a pro! May he rest in peace...
Ty for posting i also see his wife is helping bring his dream to light. Thanks again
Obviously a great man.
What a wonderful man. RIP
The world needs far more men like John Hinds, as he was a rare man in a field of rare men.
An inspirational Man who every pre-hospitalist could learn a lot from. Im really happy to see that his fight for an air ambulance was continued and finally realised...and that they honoured his memory by naming it after his call sign.
RIP Dr. John.
Hero
His SMACC talks were very interesting. Good man RIP
I don't understand 23 thumbs down. Lots of family's have there farther, Husbands and brothers still alive because of this man. You may think bikers deserve it if you race, But do there children. Surely you can't say it's there own fault. For it's not there children's. But many are still alive because of men like Dr John and these riders children are glad for these doctors. I think you need to have a good think. Yes it's the riders decision to race, But these doctors save not just the riders, But there family's to. So why dislike such men. I know why many race, Because your never more alive other than when pushing the envelope and being close to death. It's better than sitting in your armchair complaining about those who seek to push boundary,s.
Welcome to the Internet, bud - it's the "land" of truly free speech. I say that for two reasons: Much of the statements made via the Internet have a zero value (thus, "free"). But also because, for the most part, they can be uttered (typed) without a cost to the person who is making the statement. The people in this comment area who've made negative comments about the late Dr. John should try walking into any pub in Northern Ireland and saying the same thing. I strongly suspect that not a single one of them will find that his statement ends up being "free."
RIP, Dr, John. I've seen videos of some of your lectures - you've probably saved many more people than the ones you personally worked on.
I linked a John Hinds video earlier and now my CZcams feed is full of them. I feel an immense sense of pride, an aspirational pride for a man I never met.
A fine honourable man. Bravest of the Braves. But how sad it is and how dangerous are these motorbike races as evidenced by the recent fatalities in motorbike races on Isle of Man. It's terrible to see this loss of life occuring amongst these bravehearts
R,I,P my friend 👍
RIP John. You have done much for the motorcycling community, and I suspect for trauma medicine in general.
Simply a legend. Honour his memory with a helicopter bearing his name
Omg I didn’t know he’d died. I watched one of his lectures a while back on the medical teams at the Isle of Man and what a cracking fellow he is his sense of humour is second to none R.I.P John though I didn’t know you, you were a hero without the cape to many.
Godspeed John Godapeed
make him a saint already
True man and a hero!
GOOD. HAVE. HIM. NOW. BLESSED. BE 4 EVER. THIS. TRUE. HERO...WE MISS HIM. MAY. THE LOVE OF. US. KEEP HIS MEMORY ALIVE ..AND. GOD BE. WHIT ALL. THAT MISS HIM...R.I.P..MY. FRIEND
I don’t know anything about racing. I know even less about medical. Knew nothing of Hinds til 6 hours ago. Binge listening as I sand floors. I’ve always respected first responders, fireman, anyone put in life and death situations. Many that are quite traumatic. Using humor to make certain points or to take the pressure off an intense moment indicates someone that was extremely knowledgeable and caring. And it helped he understood the attraction to racing. I am much like John in that the more stressful, serious situation, I calm and become a leader. In trauma, having John there I’m sure lowered anxieties of medics and patients. And families of deceased know that if John was there, they can be at peace knowing everything that could be done , was done. I have no idea why this popped up in my feed but anytime I hear the roar of a cycle , I’ll think of John. If there are any links to an in-depth story of what occurred his last day I’d appreciate it
Absolutely gutted what a legend deepest respect from South Wales bikers
Hero rest in peace
RIP my friend, you made a difference and will be missed
R.I.P., Dr John, you were a man after my own heart.
Dr John was a big man
R.I.P. doctor John. A great man.
Only racer I grieve for.
Delta-7 was super. Often gave more entertainment that the racers. Helped so many and said goodbye to so many friends.
Who in their right mind thumbs down on this, I have difficulty understanding.

World Hero.
Rest in peace John
Is the petition still open to names, and do you have to be from Northern Ireland? I'm a retired critical care nurse from the U.S.
I love first responders!
RIP
Bloody sport for the chosen ones, I guess. Too bad it demanded the life of this great man while in voluntary duty to help and save other crash victims with the risk of crashing himself. There might be some irony in this observation but it testifies how exceptional this guy was and how exceptional and risky were his working conditions.
Fuck. I just watched one of his videos. RIP, good sir.
You got the air ambulance bud....
Rip
Why the organisers dont have many assistance points on the road?
How did he die? Did he lose control of his bike? Did a racer hit him?
did he die on his s1000rr!?
why do videos from 2009 look like they're from the 80s?
He is my uncle
it is really, but all that kit on is back and bike and going that fast was pushing the limit's
What a shame.
3 people should have had his fate.
sad
These kids simply should slow down.
Is that your real photo? Can't be lol
Is that yours? Can't be. "lol"
Kim Riley it's a race
We know it is race. Those kids should slow down and the prettiest one should win the race. :)
Kim Riley I'd win
i guess he wont do that again.
