In the Stalingrad book, there's the Frontnik commissar and the Politruk, which are alternative commissar HQ units. Both are regular units that remove the -1 to hit for inexperienced units within 6 inches. The Politruk loses the "Not one step back" rule.

Balancing HMGs is as easy as giving them 5 shots just like MMGs. The +1 penetration value gives them an on average of 36.67% more damage per shot. Regular HMG teams are 40% more expensive than Regular MMG teams and vehicle mounted HMGs are 67% more expensive than MMGs are. In my opinion this alone makes HMGs worth it, but also not an obvious choice that should always be taken.
To balance both MMG and HMG weapon teams I say that they should automatically inflict one pin on the target even if all shots “miss”. No extra pin if they hit so each team weapon will always inflict 1 pin. This does not apply to vehicle MMGs or HMGs, only team weapons that fill the machine gun team slot in the platoon.

i could listen to you talk about this game all day, and that's despite the fact that i play entirely solitaire with scenarios from campaign books. hearing you analyze things from a competitive perspective grants me an acute understanding and familiarity with the ruleset and overall enriches my playing experience. not to mention it's just entertaining asl! (all of that goes for legion as well).
thank you for returning to us Hollywod, your work may be highly underappreciated quantitatively but i promise it means everything to your subscribers.

I occasionally play against myself at home on a day off with miniatures and terrain. It's a really fun game to play single player and I've got a terrible short-term memory so I make a great opponent for myself. You should buy a box and start painting them up.

Hi Shame you can’t play face to face however because of the activation system it does lend to solitaire gaming.

If you want more to cover, do a video covering all of the small arms in the game. (Pistols, smgs, shotguns, rifles, assault rifles, automatic rifles, lmgs, rifle grenades)

Shooting at a unit of regs with HMG vs MMG. We will assume the enemy is either at range, or in soft cover, over the course of a 6 turn game.
You hit twice with the MMG, and wound once. 6 wounds a game
You hit 1.5 times with the HMG and wound once. 6 wounds a game
    Now same scenario against vets.
You hit twice with the MMG, and wound 0.6666 times. 4 wounds a game
You hit 1.5 times with the HMG, and wound 0.75 times. 4.5 wounds a game.
The opposite would be true against inexperienced, because the downstream effects of +1 to wound vs the extra shot get worse the easier the initial wound roll is. However, the extra shot gets better the harder the enemy is to hit. Stats yo.
MMG is better against regulars (because it's cheaper for the same effect) and inexperienced, and better on a dense board.
HMG is better against vets, or on a more open board, and has the advantage of being able to pin vehicles.
However, as long as snipers one shot both of these, I think they're both borderline unplayable at their points cost in a competitive and even casual competitive game

Japanese you can have a dual HMG option and so get 6 shots. But it is not cheap as it cost 125 points regular. But it does pose a threat to that gang rush flanking with trucks that some players love to use. I take it from time to time as everything Japanese that is minus a single vehicle or man is fanatics so taking a few inexperience units it can work. I love using it as a buffed Hitler Buzzsaw with HMG's. I use mine again as a counter to flanking with vehicles loaded with weapon teams and infantry, or as a suppression fire so as to allow my infantry a chance to close the range.

The gun shield does help you against snipers as it affects thier wound roll not their hit roll.

What they are really missing is the ability to fire indirectly. I know they can, I have seen me do it!. Also ideal for digging out infantry that is in buildings

So did I get this right; On long range you lose that +1 pen stat for actually damaging that light armored vehicle, but that +1 pen stat still counts when considering ability to pin? Btw, just painting my two US HMG weapon teams...

I was wondering if you could do a video on different ways to build a board and properly pay specific units on those boards? Not every strategy but maybe some basics.

Wow that's actually a really cool idea for a video. I'd have to make a trip to a place with a proper table and terrain (though i do have some of my own), but maybe I can make that happen down the road.

I have been a fan for at least a year, but have you thought about recording your audio in audacity?
Removing the fan or AC is very easy in audacity, I would know.
I have a really hard time sleeping and I listen to your bolt action content because it's that sweet spot between not boring and not heart pounding.
So for me, the crispness of the audio matters.

I think the commisar makes them ignore being inexperience?
Also i think that for warhammer one of the main things is volume of fire
It forces things to go as you want
