- Five years later ... a followup video to my first release, "Colleywood/Maryville Junction - An N-scale DCC 4X8 Freelanced Layout". This sequel historically follows the surprise developments that have taken place during the last 5 years of the layout's evolution, including a complete breakdown and crating of CMJ to relocate it to a new studio, followed by a face lift and renovation.
I had a family member stop by today in Philadelphia area down from Boston area. I was showing him one of your videos. Telling him how I like the way you narrate them. Stumbled across this new one, glad you're back. Good to hear your voice again. I'll be watching for the next episode.

I'm getting back to N scale after 22 years of HO, and finally realizing I'll never have the HO empire I keep imagining and designing. I like how you have created an N scale layout that is both manageable and operationally satisfying, with no apparent concessions or excuses about N scale's limitations.
Hi Radio Trains, Good to see you're back working on the layout and posting videos. It also looks like you've moved into the same general location of my In-Laws on the Gulf coast side of Florida. They live near Venice Florida. The plus side of their location is the Gulf side of Florida stays warmer than the Atlantic side in the Winter months, but the down side is there is only one train track in town and it's used only once a month on average. It's a great place for warm weather fun in the sun, but a lousy place for a rail fan :-) Cheers, Rich S.
Fantastic update! I wondered what the future of your Colleywood layout would be following your last dismantling video. Now we can rest assured of its sunny new future inside its new Florida home. In part of your renovations, can you do something about the bleed-through of your interior lighting in your buildings? Woodland Scenics makes a great opaque black coating to paint onto the interior seams and walls of buildings precisely for the purpose.

My story is a lot like yours except I’m the grandfather with grandchildren. Mine 4x8 is DC with 10 blocks with a nice inventory of DC engines and 100 rolling stock of every variety. I want to resurrect it! In converting to run both DC and some new DCC equipment, I will be using a few more DCC power connections. I would very much like to ask you: 1. Would you show your engine inventory by brand and DCC capability (sounds lights, other features), 2. How you decided on which DCC controller (Digitec vs NEC) 3. Where do you buy your engines (a plug for suppliers you prefer. Thank you. Tom Tenbrunsel

You have accomplished a feat I can only dream about. This is an amazing layout that you've managed to cram as much as you had on the basic 4x8 space one tries to place an HO layout on.
Also amazing that you do this without all the bells a whistles you see on most other layouts (multiple power sources, blocks - even basic soldering).
However, this is just one dumb question for you. It comes mainly because I have not had the time to go through all your videos and comments from same. So if it has been asked or if you've made comments on it already I apologize.
So, for your night shots and now that you plan on fixing things, are you going to light block your buildings so that they don't look like glowing radioactive blocks?
It's not meant as a negative comment but a single white home glowing as it does in a night shot is a bit distracting. When all your homes and businesses glow like that, one maybe thinks your table is about to explode due to a super volcano - the ultimate reason for a renovation.

I have a 4x8 rolling table just ready to start my N Scale layout. I absolutely LOVE the Colleywood / Maryville Junction. I am a retired grandfather with a LOT of time on my hands and would really like to build this layout. Would it be possible for you to send me the track plan? Email, here, something? Thanks Steve. Just found your video after looking for n scale layouts on youtube and I stopped right there because I've seen enough layout plans and finally found what I'm looking for!
