If you change the years to 1 and then adjust the amount, when you change the years back to what you want it keeps the AAV. Makes it easier than holding for ages.

not really sure exactly what was referenced, but I think its for contracts and to avoid having to hold the d-pad or analog stick to the side for a long time. I think sharks fan is saying to reduce the duration of the contract to one year, then adjust the salary, then change the years back to what you want. @@jjo4739edit** ok I see it now in the video, its the player/contract resign part at 7:27 bengal moves the years up first but sharks fan is saying put it at 1 year even if you want the player for longer and then make the salary how much you want per yer and then adjust the duration again. it will keep the same average annual value and you won't have to hold the cursor over for ages
It also makes sense to buy out players’ arbitration years (via contract extension) bc it gives you a fixed cost instead of a variable cost. If the player breaks out he may receive a major pay day through arb.

You could throw collier at first, ik coming out of the draft most thought he would end up at first anyway, would help have some future at that position and lead a path for Arnold or strand

Bengal I always have hated whenever you want to change your throw or head back to a base your guy has to fully stop think about his life decisions cry for an hour then attempt to move. Meanwhile the CPU can break the laws of physics to make sure they can change their course of direction to get your player.

The whole point of offering those long term contracts to the young stars is to buy out the first few years of free agency at a discounted price. So if your offering a contract the length within his arbitration years you are way over paying him.
honestly arnold could be a corner outfielder. he's only 5'10 and his best defensive asset is his arm, plus it helps with the logjam at infielder

He's not a generational talent. To be generational you have to have a 99 Potenial and be at a min 80 overall.

if you go through the free agency at the beginning of the franchise, they sprinkle in a handful of fake players with A and B potential. theres always a ton of young pitchers and a couple of crazy hitters
Move Richardson to the bullpen. It drops their overall significantly so it will give him more room to grow plus 70 stamina really isn't great for a starter. Even if you change his position to RP you can still keep him in the rotation.

i see no point it signing a long term deal if it's not going to secure him through all of his best years and maybe two beyond, esp if you front load the contract.

Look at corbin carrolls contract or some of the braves deals like acuna or albies for how inspiration on how to extend young studs.The whole point is to buy out arbitration years + some early FA years at under market value (at the time of when they will be eligible for free agency). There is no point in however not buying out arbitration years. You can probably have signed cruz for less than you did, like 70k before his renewable deals even. So you have your young guys as cheap as possible so you have money to spend in free agency

I think you should use zone hitting but only in player lock, it would be more exciting especially when your player locked on some of the prospects like Elly or Mclain.

You can put steer in LF or first base just not 3rd or SS. Mclain at 2nd or maybe DH or I think he can also do OF in real life. But if you do 2nd you can have him and India switch back and forth and you can probably bump India up a little in the contact and power hes having a great year. Also Elly speed has to go up to at least a 96 or higher. Also Encarnacion strand can be 1st baseman with A potential he's killing it!!
Any time a relief pitcher gives up a lead, it counts as a Blown Save, even if it’s not a save situation.
The stat should probably be called Blown Lead instead, but that’s just how it is

If you need any extra room in the infield I would always play steer at first and then have more room in the infield 🤷
I cheated and started a DTG with Pittsburgh with all their good players swapped out for crappy free agents. Picked up a generational LF and he won MVP in 2025 on the 2nd worst team in the league 😂. Batted .321, 53, 148. Sadly his potential dropped to 98 in season 3 but it doesn't really matter. I play him at DH so he plays every game so i made him a catcher so his overall drops and he still has room to grow as he's 99 OVR in every other position except CF. Only way he can grow is as a catcher and it doesn't matter as he's the DH. He really shouldn't be the DH as he's high 80s speed and decent fielding but as I sim everything it's the only way he plays every game

Viña looks more like a CF in my opinion. At 18 his fielding is actually solid.

You have so little depth in center and Viña’s arm isn’t that of a right fielder. From a user standpoint I never really throw out guys from CF (even using guys like Myles Straw) Therefore I think Viñas speed in center will play well tracking balls deep.

The contracts in baseball are better in terms of guaranteed money. The NFL get their contracts faster, but the money is better in baseball once you get to FA.
You also aren't bashing your brain into mush as you play and can play a lot longer into your career.
