Garfield is only good for Gaming Beaver modded battle royale in jwe. And even that is only used as a gag to see how sloppily it dies from the indominus, although it is better to see it die than stick around. I am glad it was never converted to its own unique species as most people that take the game seriously to make a park would just use the default brachiosaurus or a more paleo accurate brachi.

Mods creators were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, that they didn't stop to think whether they should.
Underrated comment they, just packege it and sell it and sell it.
I just want to point out that the "Monsterverse" Kong is actually a full rip of the NECA King Kong figure. Like its an exact match. I'm not really sure how the game works, but it looks like someone scanned the figure and put it in the game, but it also has its feet on the wrong side and its torso is all mushed together.
If it wasn't scanned, someone really took the time to create an almost perfect replica of an action figure, with the joints, in this game. Bravo.

I only played this game on console and was blissfully unaware of any mods... and now I have nightmares! lol, love the channel!
This is the same kind of stuff that happened in 2016/2018 with the toy/superhero/elsa/finger family channels. Just judging by the channel names, descriptions, and content you can tell it was made by a non-english speaking person for the express purpose of viewbotting, clickbaiting children, or even just expressing a fetish.

As a modder myself I think I speak for the modding community when I say, we really dislike this type of channels. On my case seeing how my Ultimasaurus wich is a fully custom asset, be butchered to infinity for this kind of content has been nothing but disrespectful. This to the point it has killed various projects I was planning to do that required custom assets

This is the main reason I haven't continued modding in this game... I made a Red Rex, Indoraptor Gen 2 and a Demon Carno. When I saw a bunch of leeches using them for their cash farms without putting any links in the description I was disgusted XD
The irony is that only one content creator contacted me to use my custom assets...

I love the mods in game.(most of them)I think the superhero dinosaurs are fine.The human goat is disturbing 😳.But some mods go way too far.Like the anime characters mods in the video.They look so derpy like lmao.

It's so weird to see these types of mods in a zoo/park builder game, you don't see these types of mods in Zoo Tycoon 2 or Jurassic Park Operation Genesis. But then again those games are relatively obscure with specific fanbases and were made before these weird kiddy GTA V modded, Elsagate, whatever you want to call these videos were even a thing.
This is also beacuse jpog and zt2 are quite Old at this Point so many of the trend weren't aroud at the time.
This is exactly how I feel about these creators. The fucking super hero stuff is so weird and shouldn’t even exist.

I remember I used to watch beaver talking about how frontier/universal would not allow mods and how awesome it would be to mod the dinosaurs. And then months later he was posting dinosaurs with mods and I was like “how’d this happen?“ good video!
I wanted to share my experience with the superhero mods. My cousin wants to learn about dinosaurs and doesn't have any books atm. I told him to search dinosaurs on google or CZcams,thinking it would recommend great documentaries with actual information.He didn't find any of that.Only channels that exploited superhero mods that young children usually click on. I don't like it at all...

holy shit I’m so glad someone made a video on these. Seriously what the hell is up with those channels, who even makes these? Considering the replies to the gibberish comments they look like they’re botted, but the videos are just weird to the point I feel like an A.I was programmed to do this

The Sirenhead T.rex looks like a cartoon character from the 50s or 60s. I can imagine her traveling through time and showing kids history like Mr. Peabody.
I find it funny how that Spider-Man themed Rex foreshadowed an actual character from the Marvel Universe now, Spider-Rex, an alternate universe Spider-Man that’s a T. Rex (originally a Pterosaur but that’s a different can of worms)
They even look similar. Did Marvel see these mods and decided “…cool!”?
As long as we are making weird mods hears a idea for the game, Someone should make a mode of a giant Elsa for this game. So it would look like its going on a violent rampage killing/eating everyone in the park that hates Frozen & Frozen 2. (Its fun to make fun of Frozen. LOL)

People used to mod stuff into the Zoo Tycoon games starwars creatures or the speculative zoology creatures from "after man" I remember one for the original game was a gigantic homer simpson that I wish I could find again I think part of the reason people want to add crazy stuff to these games is to make like a "dream zoo" or to feel like the SCP foundation or also just as a funny shitpost

I feel bad for modders that actually take the time to make really good and detailed mods that MAKES SENSE TO BE IN THE GAME. All that superhero shit and the rest of the weird stupid mods that have infested JWE are just absolutely atrocious and so stupid. They are taking the shine away from the really talented creators out there and I feel bad.
Ya know, some of these super hero mods would’ve worked, if they hadn’t gone over the top. For example, paint a Trex green, give the model a touch more muscle definition than normal, lose the hair and paints, you’ve got a hulk-ish rex. Same goes for Venom. Just paint him black, smooth him out, change the eyes, give him slightly more muscle, lose the bulbous head sculpt trying to remove the horns, and you’ve got a decent looking Carno-symbiote. I mean, the reason some of these look so bad, is because some people don’t have a sense of when something is too much. You need to know the difference between design, and overdesign.
Adding muscle and vein definition, and a dull green color palette? Good design. Clearly hulk, just in dinosaur form. Swelling him like a ballon, making him bright green, and adding hair and pants? Bad design. Not enough detail where it counts, too many where you don’t need them. Honestly, a Rex done up with the muscle/vein detail of the Edward Norton Hulk, wouldn’t be too bad.

These mods look more like a video straight from CZcams Kids, probably titled something like "Funny Superhero Among Us vs Ironman Batman Anime Sirenhead Dinosaur Colors Song". All they're missing is to sing and dance the song about monkeys falling off the bed.
Like you said, most of these mods just make the dinosaurs look miserable.
The superhero skins make me think that the dinosaurs were spray-painted on by a bunch of cruel kids who thought it would be funny.

The hiatus probably happened because my best guess is the cost and time it takes to develope new stuff for JWE. Coming out with so much content must have been very demanding for the developers.
And considering JWE2 is on the horizon, they may been working on that for a while.

Well the Spider-Rex and Batmanasaurus Rex kinda make sense considering that they're both canonical characters in their respective media, but as superhero skins go, thats about where I'd draw the line

i thought i was doing a disservice to the game with the mods i put in(i replaced two dinosaurs that looked weird to me and added a schitt ton on new dinos and hybrids)
Honestly as much as I dislike the weirdness of these mods, I have to say they garfield one is just so bad its good.

Man, seeing the spider-man t-rex is so weird, because recently marvel actually made a spider-verse comic which actually features a t-rex spider-man which kind of looks really similar to the mod.
I think one thing Frontier does poorly is hide what theyre working on. They supposedly do it to create hype near the release date of say a dinosaur pack, but honestly to me it just seems like covering up the little effort going into some packs, as to produce fake hype. I think Frontier is how to put this.... lazy. The updates are usually far better than the paid DLC. They often add new or change existing mechanics, which is very welcome. But rarely the dinosaurs, and the new species almost never add anything really new. I think they have the resources to add good new things to the game and more unique feeling animals, but dont because they dont need to. As long as they make a dino pack every few months theyre making money. I cant help but feel the devs lack the passion they make out to have, or that getting approval from Universal is such a pain that it saps a desire to make interesting things, rather than just make another pteranodon remodel, so a barabidactylus. If they are limited they should just be honest. I remember how fliers and aquatics were teased in the first game and never came. That was blatant false advertising.
They could add such a variety of interesting new animals that have new behaviours, or even add new behaviour to existing species. THEY STILL DONT EVEN POO! But in the standalone dino packs we've gotten a new pliosaur and elasmosaur but we already had liopleurodon and elasmosaurus. Each pterosaur only differs from the others in looks and some animations. Wuerhosaurus, did fill a gap in the stegosaur size variety; but in a game with so many stegosaurs, and another Chinese one, it makes the roster feel even more repetitive, with new additions feeling more like remodels and not genuinely new. Even austalovenator, a very unique and interesting megaraptoran feels little different to monolophosaurus and herrerasaurus of similar size. If it did have more unique behaviours and interactions and even animations it would stand out far more. But it doesnt. Gone are the breaths of fresh air from the first game like herrerasaurus, 'troodon', iguanodon and the herbivore dinosaur pack, where these animals had completely unique rigs and introduced different looking and feeling species not present in the game prior. Some even added new mechanics. Though even in those packs many were basically remodels. But at least there was something. In this one, where we could have had a pack full of Permian animals with completely new rigs like the Herbivore Pack, we got 3 remodels of existing creatures in the Late Cretaceous one. It just makes the new animals feel boring, and wastes a spot in the roster that couldve been taken by something that didnt make it feel bland.
Unfortunately I doubt this is set to change, so I'm just hoping model editing gets fixed and modders are able to make new species again. But thats only for PC of course; other platforms simply must make do with stagnation and repetition.
Finally, I find the argument against modding 1 wrong, 2 elitist, and 3 unimportant. Modders absolutely can make things of the same standard if not better. Many mods in the first game looked better than base game's dinosaurs, both in accuracy, but also even in texture quality. On top of this, mods were able to literally fix issues with the game. Dont like the limited map size, limited behaviour, lack in customisability and terrain tools? There's mods it. I mean for the sequel, modders have added features before Frontier have. Some were better than frontier's equivalent, or had other features. Kaiodenic is the obvious example here, with improvements to sandbox, first person mode, and a tunnel system, all being done by him first. The latter being far better than the 'hyperloop' that frontier made for the Biosyn DLC. And finally, it doesnt matter, even if all the mods were crap or silly, who cares? Its not like people now associate garfield brachiosaurus with the brachiosaurus in the movies. The mods dont tarnish it in anyway. It genuinely seems 1 ignorant and 2 elitist as hell. Even the weird mods. Screw fun I guess? Frontier, why do you care that the silly mods are silly! You didnt make them! They are very optional! They do not lessen your game, theyre simply a fun novelty! It just seem pointless and stuck up. So yeah. Frontier pisses me off but I like their game too much. Though tbf... thats mostly because there isnt a similar game thats finished or has realistic graphics... Sooo.

Those channels showing those “modded” dinosaurs just exploit little children and I am a dinosaur enthusiast so those shitshows are most of the time in my recommended
As a non-gamer who just stumbled into this vid, I think it all just looks fun and interesting! Bizarre (in many cases) to be sure, but if I was a gamer, I’d think I would welcome the variation! I mean, it’s video games! Despite how seriously certain gamers seem to take themselves, they seem to forget that at its heart is the word “game”. Just like the entertainment industry at large. It is an industry. Sure. But at the end of the day, it’s about entertaining people. If the creators start taking themselves too seriously, they risk losing sight of the purpose of the exercise. See DSM 5 definition of “Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder”.

Well all I can say is sadly it's nice to see that frontier treats all of there games the same as a long time player of elite dangerous also from frontier I know these complaints far to well we have the same issues with hiatus n such on that end too

I've come across these thumbnails by scrolling too far on the yt home page, and Immediately knew they are targeted towards kids. All of this just feels like the culmination of dinosaurs being viewed as monsters that exist solely for children's entertainment and the general degradation of children's media.
