- Sorry for my absence. Such a hiatus definitely dulled my skills, as you can see by the quality of the video; I'll try to do better in the future. Some clips are also pretty shoddy, but it's hard finding them online, so please bear with me. Anyway, the siege of mandalore from star wars the clone wars and sabaton the last battle, as some of you have requested. I'll try to upload more!

There is so much symbolism between this arc and the Battle of Castle Itter, and I can't believe I haven't thought of it until just now:
The Siege of Mandalore was a side adventure for the Republic, a battle that didn't really matter in the grand scheme, although it was the last battle of the war. The Battle of Castle Itter was similarly irrelevant to the outcome of the war but was the last fight between the US and the Nazis.
The Mandalorian factions led by Maul and Bo-Katan are surprisingly reminiscent of the SS soldiers at Castle Itter and Maj. Joesf Gangl's defecting Wehrmacht troops in Worgl, respectively.
Meanwhile, the clone 332nd Battalion, led by Ahsoka and Commander Rex, are the stand-ins for Captain Jack Lee and his complement of the 23rd Tank Battalion.
Edit 1: every time the song goes "Gangl and Lee and their men set the prisoners free", for 'Gangl and Lee' it cuts to Ahsoka and Bo-Katan, while for 'their men' it cuts to the clones. Nice touch, GOC.
In the battle itself, the clones and Nite Owls fight against the last surge of Maul's troops on a bridge with just a company and a single ATTE tank. In the real-life battle, the Americans and Gangl's Wehrmacht forces held off the SS stormtroops with a single M4 Sherman tank, Besotten Jenny ("Jenny at the gates").
Apparently, the writers of the Clone Wars took inspiration from real WW2 battles for many of their war-driven arcs. The Malevolence was based on the Hunt for the Bismarck, the Onderon arc was based on the Warsaw Uprising, the Ryloth, Geonosis, and Umbara *invasion sequences* were implied to have been inspired by D-Day. *Umbara was based on Vietnam or the Philippines campaign, and Kamino might have been inspired by Pearl Harbor or maybe Midway. I doubt that Filoni would shy away from referencing a really interesting, true war story.
Edit 2: Clarifying historical origins for the Umbara arc. I mistakenly said it was based on a WW2 invasion sequence, while Dave Filoni has confirmed it to be an allegory for the Vietnam War.
Edit 3: I've started reading Stephen Harding's The Last Battle, a historical account of the Battle of Castle Itter, and come to think of it, Maul is very similar to Schloss Itter's SS commandant, Sebastian Wimmer, who was "Barely literate, unkempt, and given to violent drunken rages" (Page 18), but also "Crude Wimmer might have been, but he most obviously was not stupid" (Page 21). Maul definitely fits the bill. And when you compare Maul's Mandalorians to Wimmer's Nazi SS guards, the similarities stack up. As an even further confirmation, Wimmer, like Maul, fled Castle Itter before he could be captured (at least Maul tried. There were no Jedi in 1945 to stop Wimmer).
The inclusion of the prison scene with former Prime Minister Almec also lines up with how Castle Itter was actually a Nazi prison for VIPs captured during the war, including former French Prime Ministers Daladier and Reynaud, plus other important prisoners of political value (none were killed, although Major Gangl was killed protecting Reynaud).
Edit 4: For further comparisons between Death Watch and the Third Reich, I suggest you look at this post by BrandonSW on Wookieepedia where he outlines the similarities between the two organizations. Wouldn't Onderon and Umbara be Vietnam
Onderan is much more reminiscent of the warsaw uprising but umbara being nam does make sense

Actually, Umbara arc is more similar to Vietnam War, while Onderon Arc was based on US involvement in Afghanistan. But I see your point 👍👍👍👍👍
In addition to those parallels, the Mandalorian Resistance (like the German Army) were seen as potent warriors. Additionally, Clone weaponry was inspired by World War Two Allied guns. Maul, like the Nazis, overall wanted revenge for what happened to him. More food for thought....

This song was an excellent choice, alot of the lyrics can be applied to CW too. Especially "It's the end of the line, it's the final journey." 12 years of clone wars.... Rewatching the movie, the animation looks like Storyboarding compared to what we have now. This show has come so far but now, well, It's the end of the line.

Amazing lyrics, however might I suggest a couple wording changes as this is one of my top 5 favorite sabaton songs so I listen to it all the time and I think it would sound a little smoother like this

V Day as in Victory Day since the Siege of Mandalore was near the end of the Clone Wars
I used Maul instead of Darth cause he's no longer a Darth since he's not align with Palpatine
Also I use Supercommandos cause that's what they were
I didnt use Deathwatch because most of Deathwatch joined Maul while Nite Owls whom I call them Mandos refuse to join Maul

@@ninofromkitchennightmares1497 that's the reason the empire removed them. War machine as a collective was more important than skills and bravery of individuals (excluding highest ranks but they were expendable too).

he Battle of Castle Itter was fought in the Austrian North Tyrol village of Itter on 5 May 1945, in the last days of the European Theater of World War II.
Troops of the 23rd Tank Battalion of the 12th Armored Division of the US XXI Corps led by Captain John C. "Jack" Lee, Jr., a number of Wehrmacht soldiers led by Major Josef "Sepp" Gangl, SS-Hauptsturmführer Kurt-Siegfried Schrader, and recently freed French prisoners of war defended Castle Itter against an attacking force from the 17th SS Panzergrenadier Division until relief from the American 142nd Infantry Regiment of the 36th Division of XXI Corps arrived.
I think Panzer Battalion or Reign ot Terror are other good Sabaton songs to put with the Siege of Mandalore. After all, both were about Iraq (a madman who committed numerous crimes).

Not gonna lie I honestly believe the siege of mandalore would go really well with Attero Dominatus. Still it’s a hell of a song and a hell of a battle
Personally I think attero dominatus would go well with the battle of coruscant against the yuzhaan Vong in legends. However I respect your opinion. I also understand no film exists of the yuzhaan vong war but gaht daymn is that final battle epic

I don't remember this story arc in the series, and I am pretty darn sure I watched every single episode that was even on television of this series.
This is from the recent added season, 12 more episodes split into 3 4-episode plots (the Bad Batch finally finished, Ahsoka on the run trying to live a civilian life, and finally the Battle of Mandalore/Order 66 which is what features in this video).
I just want to say that the 332nd is actually the red tails and the 501st was part of the 101st , screaming eagles , they are elite paratroopers

This fight was really hard for me, I have great respect for Rex, and I kinda like Ahsoka, and I like the clones in general, but I really like the Mandalorians, and Maul is one of my favourite characters, but at the same time he was using the title of Mandalore as a way to achieve his own ends, so I also don't really think he should be the Mandalore, so it is my favourite faction, lead by one of my favourite characters, but who I don't think should be leading them, against my favourite army lead by a character I liked, I was rooting for the Mandalorians but also felt kinda sad with every clone and Mandalorian that died.

Hey GOC, what do you think about a TCW amv about Rush Clovis and the banking clan arc set to 1648? I think the lyrics can line up pretty well with the scenes
Having just listened to the song, and lining up several scenes, I agree. However, the problem is how limited the material is. These kind of songs demand a lot of action scenes, and the arc with Clovis involved more political scenes than actual combat. Only Thorn's last stand and the republic counter attack. That makes it a bit difficult to work with the idea, I'm afraid. Still, I'll keep the suggestion in mind.
Also, love the nickname. Definitely less bothersome to type xD

@@fandemusique4693 Sounds doable, actually. Killing ground could be a general amv about the clones. For example, "all for one and one for all" depicting Hevy and 99 (rest their souls). Poltova on the other hand could be a video about Umbara, with the swedish soldiers being the clones and the king being Krell.

How fitting for the last battle shown during the clone wars was a battle fought between two groups of mandalorian warriors (clones are mandalorians fuck u) on mandalore.
Who else shipped Maul and ashoka after seeing there exchange before there fight and thinks that would make for an interesting dive into the similarities of the Jedi and the sith with each developing something from the other, Maul learning what friendship or even the love as part of of sith codes "passion" I mean he wouldn't be the first sith to use love to power there passion. Ashoka could gain a deeper understanding of the force at large by seeing how the sith and Jedi aren't so different when you boil there teachings down.

And no, please don't invoke the Mortis-trilogy, because that arc is specifically a deconstruction of the Yin-Yang BS. Yes, it starts out apparently confirming it, but guess what? In the end the Dark overthrows the Balance.
