  • This old man knew from the beginning that he should'nt be fishing in this area as did all who were there but even knowing the camera was there he continued to snag as did all the rest.

    You absolutely can do something you needed to call the game warden immediately and insist that they come and assist you that ass wipe you stealing from the rest of us who do it correctly

    Yep, sadly they have all the power in the world but I never see them actually taking advantage of it. I wish game wardens did more. But they have so much ground to protect and not enough resources.

      I have no respect for game wardens they are glorified revenue collectors for the state. They do little to nothing to protect anything except their own jobs.
      If they wanted to protect anything for real they would stop the tribes or commercials or seals or anything but recreational fishermen

    throat punch and I have also lost all confidence in law enforcement and game and fish since I will tell them about the same thing and no one will ever do anything about it. I know they have limited time however if someone tells you about someone breaking the law that is less work they have to do in finding people who are breaking the law.

      Actually no they never close it because the tribes declare it a wipe out system
      Meaning they literally kill everything that comes in. that's why the state never closes Sinclair inlet.

    On this particular ocassion "no" and my reasoning for not doing so was because I had reported this exact behaviour in this exact spot every day for a week or maybe a bit more, and no one ever came. I have lost complete confidence in law enforcement and I find it ironic that no one has commented on the net blocking the whole stream during low tide.

      It is a fundamental fact that snagging fish in Washington State is illegal and it is illegal to fish in that area specifically the channel created by the stream and low tide. It is specifically stated in the regulation Handbook you should try reading lol

    I don't wanna be that person but i had reported a few people when I went hunting for not wearing blazing orange, everyone knows that when hunting season even if you go walking in the woods "ITS A MUST TO WEAR BLAZING"

      I've done it at Kennedy Creek. It's in the Mud Bay near Olympia area. On highway 101.
      Just took the salmon off his rope and let it swim off.
      He and his buddies didn't say anything.
      Not when I have a bunch of Americans backing me up.

      yea but we do it as a sport, not just taking from the land. Buying salmon from the store is way cheaper than fishing when you do the math. I think they deserve some fair amount of respect. Just my personal rule

I have that millenial 24 year old mindset tho but I try to clean up garbage and pick up lost gear when I can and fish as fairly as I think reasonable. I know everyone has their own rules 🤷🏻‍♂️

Beside I only keep hatchery fish and mostly never get into any wild where I go. Hatchery fish should not be mingling with other fish and they are meant to be bonked. I don't agree with what this guy is doing because it seems he's using a treble hook but if flossed properly all my hooks end in the mouth which hurts the fish less.

    You know man, I've thought about this and although the Russian guy is technically breaking the rules, you have to admit it is still only a few fish he snags. I'd rather him have a beautiful memory on the river with family and friends than me busting him for 'poaching'. Let's deal with the bigger issues so losing a few fish to simple men won't be a problem.

    I say if it’s a hatchery fish and it’s in season that it shouldn’t matter as long as you keep to your limit however the wild salmon deserve more respect

    All you had to do was call the game and fish warden. Thats it.... Then let them resolve it.....Now to the people in the comments saying "go throw the fish back in the water" That would end in something physical or worse....     why didnt u do something?? yes there is something u can do, u can go remove the fish from his hands and put it back in the water. I've been in this literal SAME instance and i've put my gear down and removed the fish from the person who illegally took it (while documenting) and turn them over to fish and game immediately.

If you see an illegal act taking place you fully have the rights to stop and and try to prevent any further damage from happening. I just have no patience for people that openly are out to disrespect our laws that maintain our natural resources. By all means, stay safe and judge the situation before trying to handle it.       @@AtlasVanderbelt I had a warden personally shake my hand for stopping a guy from continuing to do illegal acts, me and my friend confiscated his gear until the Warden could get there and there was no issues whatsoever with it. I would never suggest breaking the law and always stay on the side of caution. Maybe in my specific instance it was easier to take control over the problem than your situation was. Stay safe!!

      First of all OP is clearly a fisherman. Second of all, know, this guy isn't "catching" fish, he is snagging fish. In our state, in order to legally keep a salmon, you need to trick it into biting a lure. What this scumbag is doing is throwing a hook, and hitting the fish with it, getting it tangled in the hook. This type of fishing is not ethical because it does not give a fair chance to the fish. Additionally, this specific area is closed to fishing. It is closed for very good reasons. Salmon populations in our state are not great. Some populations have enough fish to sustain a population, others, like this one, do not. These fish are heading into rivers to spawn. Thanks to this pos, there are going to be dozens less fish
