Have you dreamed of how you will get married? Or have you had a very fancy/simple wedding ceremony?
Today, I'm invited to attend a Tibetan traditional wedding ceremony, which was an arranged marriage. The bride and groom never met each other before, and their parents are all nomads, who settled this marriage during the last nomadic season.
The village is my hometown, and the bride is my female cousin, just 21 years old. But it's the common age to get married in a nomadic Tibetan family.
Enjoy this video for how the Tibetan village having a traditional wedding ceremony, and leave your comments about how you held or will hold your wedding?
The traditional Tibetan wedding ceremony consists of two days.
On the first day, the ceremony was held at the bride’s home. The local villagers came to bless the bride and said goodbye to her because after that day the bride would leave her maternal home and started a new life. Two of the groom’s family members came to pick up the bride from her in-laws’ house instead of the groom.
The next day, the representatives of the groom’s family took the bride to the groom’s home. It was also on that day that the bride met her husband for the first time.
Not fancy but REAL! Just see the complete record of the two-day Tibetan ceremony now.

The bride is beautiful. I couldn't imagine getting married and meeting the groom all in the same day. Then leaving your mother and moving to a new village. That is a lot of change. I was so sad when my daughter got married, and I realized she wasn't coming home. Mothers everywhere must feel the same.
Who's pretty, I have not seen an appealing woman throughout the whole video, am I missing something! Where da hoochies wit da booties at yo!

I have never seen a Tibetian wedding before. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Best of luck in their married life. Love from South Africa.
I wish the new couple well. They looked so young and shell shocked at the end. I can’t imagine how scared your sister was, leaving home forever to people she has never met.
This is amazing how we can be so connected to each other. I live in Washington in the United States and we are able to see your sisters wedding. So grateful you shared this with the world. I wish the newly weds a long and happy life. We are more alike than we are different. God Bless you.

This is a beautiful wedding. I'm an African South African man and I can relate to some of the cultural aspects of this wedding like the traditional outfit, communal involvement, the clergy, the dowry, the abundant food and drinks, the many presents, the singing, the dancing, just the joyful celebration with the newlyweds.
We pray to God to richly bless this beautiful couple with money children, love, joy, peace and understanding. Hubby love and honour your wife and dear wife also respect and love your husband.
Arranged marriages used to be practised in my culture but they are no more. Thank you for sharing your sister's and your brother-in-law's lovely wedding with us.

Ha ha. Typical silly western attitude. Marriage life? It is an arranged marriage. The "happiness" of the spouses is not a consideration. At all. Besides the most important part was not mentioned. Tibetans just like the other people indigenous to the Himalayas region practice Polyandry. Google it. That is where a woman has multiple husbands. She is married to the oldest brother in the ceremony but in actuality she becomes the wife all all the brothers at the same time. I don't judge them. That's just how it works over there.
@@kwakuba9167 why the nasty comment about Western world? Not the first nasty comment I've read here
@@naomiobrien3136 just being real. Us westerners engage in projection totally unaware or disregard the facts and assume everybody must think like us. This video and the comments is a classic example. Because marriage and family mean totally different things to different peoples in different parts of the world.
Wow. I m so impressed! It is cultural! I remember when I was 18 a family invited my family to a wedding. After the wedding all women when to sleep. Men stayed downstairs talking n drinking. The father of the bride spoke to my dad to arrange my wedding with his son. My dad was so shocked because we as teen never meant to be a couple. Just friends. My dad declined the offer because he wasn’t informed by me or nothing. So dad stopped me from getting into an arranged wedding. Thanks for posting this family event.
I like the “What now!” 🤷🤷♂️ look on the couple’s faces in the end🥰☺️totally adorable. Thanks for showing us such a beautiful wedding from a beautiful people.

Tibetan wedding is very similar to Indian wedding like horse ride, giving money and make a record about it, women singing, host reading what bride and groom families gave to each other, dowry etc. I'm actually quite surprised about this and liked it a lot. Few years back I visited a Tibetan town in India and welcomed by warm hearted Tibetan people. Sending best wishes to bride and groom. 🤗
One of the best tibetian arrange marriage I never seen before my best wishes to new couple love from pune India ❤️❤️❤️🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Thank you very much 💗
Even though I live so so far from Tibet and my culture so very different, watching this reminds me how alike we are as people! As humans we can all relate to the happiness of gathering with family to celebrate a wedding, the 2 families getting to know each other and wishing well to the new couple and their life together, the bride being nervous and sharing emotional moments with her parents, the work of all the preparations of food, clothing and decorations, the cousins helping the bride get dressed, having ones religious traditions/beliefs represented....(the giving of gifts and recording them is something we do in the southern USA as well!) Although your beautiful sister had no idea where she was going or who she would marry...I would imagine most new brides share the nervousness and anxiety of leaving their home and family to start a new life with her husband! This video was 2 years ago and I am so curious how she and her new family are doing today?? I hope you can do another video one day showing how she is doing!
Love from Europe in Danmark, l am proud of your culture 🙏🙏🙏🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰❤️❤️❤️❤️🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
I wish them all the happiness and luck life has to offer, I've been married for 54 years and still happily in love.
So great to hear such things, I'm happy for you both too! May I ask, how often you say to your wife that you love her?☺️
Wonderful to hear, but I’ll hazard a guess and say you chose each other.
@@vondahe I would say we say it 4 or 5 times each day. Our next Big Milestone Event will be early next year when we reach being married for 20,000. days if the Good Lord allows it. It's takes 54 years 9 months and 6 days to reach this number of 20 thousand. Now this will be special for us.
yeah but i bet you werent forced into arranged marriage in 10th grade forced to quit school
@@AmandaYoungss You are definitely correct in your observation yet it's been a part of the their marriage culture since who knows when, plus it seems that couples are expected by societal tradition and pressure to marry in this manner however they feel personnel about this marriage circumstance. I can only hope they do find happiness and love towards one other because if they don't life will be a hard master for them and that is something I wouldn't want to see for them. But Amanda you are right correct and I do see your concern for them.

The bride is purchased with money and other goods. It's not her choice. There is no "best arranged marriage" the arrangement is between parents, the female is a mere commodity.

This is a beautiful ceremony. I do feel a bit sad for the mom of the bride. The sadness she feels letting her daughter go. I to wish them a happy, health and prosperous life together.
That is a universal sadness that Mother's all over the world feel when their daughters marry. That will never change.
First time seeing a Tibetan marriage, in Australia i have met a beautiful couple & he took my friend Georgia's Surname, Georgia taught English in Tibet, such a sweet couple. However they met & fell in Love & moved to Australia, so not arranged. I have to admit i cried with The Mother, my heart would be sad too to see my little girl leaving. I was reminded how similar in many ways the Native American Indians are to Tibetan People, i love the colors in this wedding. I am learning because i thought Tibetans were vegetarian but after watching Methok's Story, i was taken back, i now know i know nothing hehe. I will learn, Thank You for sharing, Your Sister would be 6 months into marriage now, i wish her Peace, She looked very scared understandably. Om Shanti 🙏
One-day I will go to Tibet. And I shall never return. I will live with them , spend rest of life together with them. I will listen their song, dance and eat Tibetan food. I will die there . Love from Kolkata, India
May they be happy always. May he treat her well and may she be a good wife that is loved. I am in awe that although we are from completely different countries, races and religious backgrounds we have so many similarities in our traditions and dances. Native American cultures and other aboriginal cultures share so much in common. Many blessings to all.
Thank you very much. All my blessings to you. 😘
I was just thinking the same. Probably it is the ancestors of these people who landed in America centuries ago. Love from india
I only saw Native American Culture in American Museum of Natural History. What a genocide China is pushing to its 55 ethnics the West claims.
I love how everyone in the village is like a family 💖

This is awesome. Some arranged marriages are beautiful like this and some are nightmares. This culture seems to care and it’s all done with love. ❤
you demonstrated a fine example of what an extraordinary big brother is...im sure your being present for the ceremony meant so much to your sister. Great documentary, both content and the delivery really showed talent. 9m glad to have stumbled upon it...keep up the good work
It doesn't seem fair that in some cultures the bride's family gives expensive dowries to the bridegroom's family. The bride's family "loses" a daughter and should be the one to get expensive dowries from the bridegroom.
And why the girl is the want to go to the groom place
Exxź
Well unfortunately this is the case in many chinese provinces some greedy parents take it to the next level, bride price can go to hundred thousands to some case million when it comes to a rich guy, added everything from house, vehicle and cash gift. Yes it is not uncommon for some of northern families asking much thesedays, they really do mean it seriously sometimes. Although if the guy is poor, he can discuss to downgrade that price according to his financial capability, but this is usually the part where a lot of face culture is exchanged tensely and lot of acting poor to be consistent with the said financial description is needed, lol. Gosh i will be honest with u, for some of these people and i am not on a shortage of finding them, they really mean to “sell” their own daughter
Some african cultures and arabs it is the oppositie.
Ok, It's a trend from the culture of scarcity, the groom is responsible rest of her life but that doesn't mean parents don't make a contribution to her life.
IN TODAYS times of abundance this might seem cruel.
This was one of a kind wedding I really enjoyed watching this unique culture, hope the newly weds a happy long life and thank you for sharing it with us.
Thank you very much for watching our channel 💕
Thank you for sharing the culture of Tibetian wedding ceremory.
Hi, I'm from Hungary 🇭🇺. Extraordinary fact is that your traditions are so similar to ours ( unfortunately, not these days, but about a hundred years ago or so). Amazing!
These obscenely sexist traditions WERE very common in many cultures A HUNDRED YEARS AGO and are nothing of which to celebrate in the year 2022. But the wedding was beautiful and the food looked amazing.
@@rlud304 it's not sexist, it's parents trying to do the best for their children, both bride and groom. You don't understand the dynamics of few people in a region and a life thats instantly busy. For sure, with a 50% divorce rate, people who make 'free choices ' are definitely not more happy than people who have arranged marriages
Wow! What a beautiful wedding! I hope your sister and her fiance are happy to this day. I know it's been two years since.

What u have seen about Tibet n Tibetans India n Nepal aren’t fake and exaggerated.Just by watching one wedding frm small village in Tibet doesn’t represent the whole of Tibet culture. I have attended several tibetan weddings n this is the first time seeing dowry in tibetan wedding. My cousin sister had a wedding few years ago n she didn’t have dowry. All she had was the gift frm ppl who came to the wedding n obviously special gift frm her parents n families as a memories( esp mum’s jewellery, precious symbolic family gift).gift frm the bride is not a demand frm groom family. It’s just the way to sent her daughter away with no empty hand.

@@TibettravelOrg Yes, thank you so much. I have never seen anything like it. You presented it with the utmost respect for the entire thing. You have a great storytelling eye and as the conduit to the subject, a most valuable touch of welcoming minimalism. You showed your affection and respect but did not insert yourself excessively. Very well done. What struck me the most was that in the shots near windows or when leaving the buildings, when the outdoors came into the frame, the overpowering beauty of the mountains outside were shocking and powerful - that this is the everyday background, reality and complete environment to these peoples' lives. Stunning. I appreciate this short work so much. Sorry if this rude to ask, but can you tell me what industry the bride's (your) family is in to have accumulated such wealth? Thank you.

I used to think that tibetan culture is somewhat like mixture of Indian and Chinese culture, but it's actually a total different world. Amazing ! Appreciable. I also live very near to the tibetan border, and I've witnessed a little bit essence of tibetan culture in my own province (of India). I wish, I could visit the real tibet once in my life.
🙏
Which part you live near Tibetan border?

I just subscribed to this channel. For some reason I have been obsessed with everything Tibet. This was a most beautiful and serene wedding and celebration.
Why am I crying the whole time during this video? This is so emotional and conflicted in the same time. I’m happy for the couple but I feel cheated as the bride family. Loosing your daughter forever and having to gift the groom a brand new SUV. I hope you can interview your sister someday and give us an update. I wish them happy and healthy relationship.
What a beautiful wedding! Thank you for sharing this beautiful culture with the rest of the world. Lots of love from Singapore.
wow, the ceremony was great but cant fathomed how to live with a man you never met much you never love, wish them happiness
It's their way of life. When you accept things as the norm, you can fall in love easy...as humans, we love people who are kind and compassionate. Besides that, love is acceptance regardless of flaws and mistakes. It's the thought that we never leave them regardless of circumstance. I have Muslim friends, notwithstanding what we hear in the media, they have happier, peaceful marriages with less divorce rates.
