    Back in the mid to late 1980s according to the uniden people I had just about the largest collection of Bearcat and Uniden scanners with 23 in all.

    Just received this sds100 today off of Amazon. It works great right out of the box. My HP-2 was on and scanning while I was setting up the sds, then left ‘em both on. I found an interesting call so locked onto it and followed what happened to the kid who’s raft was capsized in a lake. Meanwhile the HP-2 just kept scanning for new calls.
    I immediately had an epiphany as soon as another call happened on the HP-2.
    With two similar scanners on at the same time I can now follow one call to completion without missing the other stuff going on out there.
    Having two scanners is a must. It just took me 45 years to figure that out.

      @@KillTonyClipz it’s what I always wanted in a scanner. Too bad it took 45 years to find.

    4/22 - latest batch of SDS 100 are back in stores - and being returned to stores because of a screen fit / light bleed issue.

    Usb a on 200 could be used to power external bluetooth transmitter/reciever hooked up to radio sound plug on back.

    The one thing I wish the sds200 has was multiple virtual scanners to load up specific areas that I've preprogrammed. No computer needed for the trx-1 or even my older p25 radio shack scanner. I know it's a different beast that I'll have to adapt to.

    Idk about spending that kind of money when 50% of traffic around me is encrypted.

    52:25 Although the ARC PRO software does indeed come with the virtual control for the SDS 200, I've so far spent a week, with no success, trying to get it to work. Good luck.

    I was disappointed that priority scan did not work on any trunking tgs. It didn't seem to be available for conventional freq. I've tried the various modes and nothing seems to work.

    Any idea when you will have the sds 100 and 200 available again on your website ?

    Does Uniden have any thought to add MPT1327 to the available modes. I understand that it is big in Europe and a growing number of companies are building systems. For some reason it is being used by an ever larger number of power companies, PG&E in California and PSE in Washington State.

    • @russellbryant2784
      @russellbryant2784 Před 2 lety

      MPT1327 is an all but dead mode. DMR and NXDN has largely replaced it in Europe and here in Australia. TETRA would be a better upgrade as it is used extensively across Europe and the UK. There is a good number of TETRA systems in Australia and SE Asia. The US has a few, mainly transit systems.

    I've been arm wrestling the sds200 to submit to my needs for micro-managing my anal retentive needs to organize everything the way I like it and to be able to turn favorite lists (banks) with quick keys. It's taken a lot of videos and trial and error, but I think I've done it. I also own a trx-1 which I'm very used to.

      Haha. I'm battling my SD 200 since buying it. I keep messing stuff up but refuse to give up and pay for programming. I've been scanning since the early 70s. I've gone through over a dozen scanners over the years and this is the hardest to learn. At 76, my brain is clogged with all kinds of unneeded crap. 🤐

    • @sphexes
      @sphexes Před rokem

      @@MrTommy001 I hear you. I feel mostly comfortable with the way it is organized now. I can better access everything. I still haven't tried close call or discovery modes. I did upgrade with the dmr. Mostly business and hams in my area. Some of it is encrypted. Keep on playing with it. I think you'll figure it out.

    Can someone explain why Americans persist in calling them 'police scanners' when clearly they are used more and more for non police monitoring? This is especially the case as more law enforcement agencies enable privacy.

    • @markmalasics3413
      @markmalasics3413 Před 2 lety

      It's the same level of stupidity and idiocy when musicians as well as fans insist on calling a remade song a "cover". The term goes back to the mid 50's when the term "cover record" actually meant something specific. Just like "police scanners" the name stuck around so long that the original meaning has been lost in time and misunderstanding, no matter how obvious the incorrect nomenclature is.
