    I was once read a quote in an article by a Native American that everything they used from nature worked so well for it's purpose because it was refined by simply trying and doing, and since everything, no matter which tribe or nation was passed down through oral history and lessons, they go back for generations. It's a shame so many of these newer generations are losing all of these lessons because they're stuck playing one stupid game or another or in front of a computer.

      I suppose it's time to start writing these lessons down

      Always wanted to share this, but it’s hard to explain, it’s much easier to make a video, so I figured while I’m on the primitive topics, I need to do a video on brain tanning deer skin,

    Very cool! Do they need to be fresh? I tried that once with old duck feathers and the just ripped up.

      Dominic Minischetti i’ve heard in dry climates they do but here in Alabama those are three years old, some people soak them in water before they glued them down, I don’t think you can use conventional glue you need to use hide glue or gelatin because I don’t think the glue for plastic vanes will work as good, you can make the glue out of gelatin it works just fine, I don’t something in the water I just put them straight on after I peel them off the spine

      @@Leverguns50 If you are in a dry climate or they have dried out to the point of them Ripping,lay them between 2 damp towels and let them re hydrate..

    QUESTION: Can you apply these feathers to the arrow using the glue and a fletching jig like you would normally do with store-bought feathers in vanes?

    • @Leverguns50
      @Leverguns50  Před 3 lety +1

      I have done that a bunch of times and these worked just fine for that

    Now show us how to get the Turkey to get the feathers. 😉
    With three weeks hunting season in Texas, not many days to get out and get one. I find them more in the fall than spring.
