This woman is ageless. I felt THE PASSION IN HER VOICE!!! Beautiful, standing ovation in my house.
For those of us who are old enough to have seen this goddess of the Broadway stage in the original production of DREAMGIRLS where she originated the role of Deena Jones loosely based on Diana Ross and the rise of the success of the Supremes in Motown. This performance today takes us back to her show stopping performance in that show. Sheryl along with Loretta Devine and Jennifer Holliday caused multiple show stopping applause moments nightly at the Minskoff Theater with their dynamic performances. I saw this Show and Miss Ralph and her show sisters 11 times and watched Chaos and explosive applause each and every time I was there. Never before or after have I seen a show cast do that. And YES! She still has it!!
Thanks For Letting Us Know This. Because I Honestly Didn't Have A Clue🥰
Yes. I loved the play Dreamgirls. Also, Sheryl attended Rutgers University, Livingston with my sister before Broadway. She’s come a long way. Congrats to her!
I remember, seeing the original Dreamgirls on Broadway. That was only, because my late music high school teacher took us. The best experience ever.
DID U SEE THE RENDITION OF BOTH JENNIFER HOLIDAY AND HUDSON SINGING TOGETHER NOW THAT WAS A FEAT WORTH WATCHING
I saw that production of DREAMGIRLS in its pre Broadway run in Boston. It was phenomenal.
Her pride came thru like the dawn in this song! ❤🎉❤

I loved this arrangement. The rhythmic marching emphasized, was key to her powerful delivery.

I finally found a post of her singing it. I was so disappointed by all the backlash online from the shallow minds. Bashing everything from the NFL to the media for allowing the song to be sung. Seems like any expression of Blackness is somehow divisive to a lot of people. I suggested they compare the lyrics of both and see which promotes divisiveness. I got no response as of yet.
Well, the act itself is sort of divisive, considering no other culture is represented with this anthem, especially considering that this was the only other “national” anthem was sung. It didn’t seem like the same treatment was given to Hispanics, Asians, Mexicans, etc. As a black individual myself, this just comes across as pandering and racial favoritism. At least the Star Spangled Banner would feature people of more than just one racial background. (“Feature” meaning we would see more than just one race shown on camera during the performance).
No one cares if someone has a certain culture based on there race or ethnicity, but the national anthem has nothing to do with race or ethnicity it is about all people of the United States coming together as one country and honoring our national anthem as one people not divided by skin color or race, it is about national pride in our country not a black or white country.

Lest our feet stray from the places,

where we met Thee,
Lest our hearts,
drunk with the wine of the world,
we forget Thee;
Shadowed beneath Thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.

Much Respect Lift Every Voice and Sing with Black Excellence and Greatness NUFF SAID!
Sheryl Lee Ralph injects so much heart into every word that comes out of her mouth, sung or spoken. She, the choir, and the interpreter gave a stunning performance and I'm glad I got to experience it as it aired 💕
Star bangled banner > this
I'd rather stand for this than that racist Star Spangled Banner
@@i.am.the-one how is it racist?
@@Chris-bn5pe There was a verse in there that was racist and about slavery. That's why they removed it
@@i.am.the-one what the hell are you talking about? Can you elaborate?
@@elon2159 Educate yourself. Google is free.
This is a lovely song but wtf. It is not America's national anthem. How are we ever going to stop seeing color if everywhere you turn it's about race. I'm so over this.
“Singing does not put food on the table. Singing does not pay the bills.”

Isn't it great the the NFL allows citizens from other countries and nationalities to come to the SB and sing their National Anthem?
@@jwblue575 Absolutely being that we are a country of which none of us where originally here except Native Americans...additionally she is indeed American, her parents are American and Jamaican.
Welcome to Biden’s America. Where we forgot about MLK and judge a person for the content of their character and not the color of their skin
FACTS! Nowadays, the code is judge everyone on the basis of whether or not they a minority.
Sounds like a Disney song in the genre of Gospel.
Nothing like starting the game with some racism.
How is single the Black National Anthem racist? 😂
@@moonsunfireice5066 Because it is. From what I see as of this moment five people liked my comment you are the only one that questioned it so 5 to 1 says enough There is no such thing as a black national anthem it's a made-up name. Stop consuming what the mainstream media is programming your mind to and open your eyes. That is being presented tonight to appease the woke culture. There is only one national anthem. I don't see anybody singing it in Chicago as they're murdering all the children every night.
@@savedshootin402 Wow you got six likes? And? Learn the history of the song before you say there is no such thing as a Black anthem. Are you Black? Have you studied Black history? Educate yourself before you make statements like that.
No actually it's 7 now. Zero dislikes though that's interesting. It appears that there are a lot more people with open eyes who see the truth out there. You should try it.
Like how we started this nation?
Sheryl Lee Ralf & Angela Bassett are in a league of their own! 😍
