- In this tutorial, we have discussed how to create an endless loop of ocean in Blender. By default, when you create an ocean using ocean modifier, it has a start and an end state which are completely different. So you cannot loop such an ocean. We have discussed how to loop this ocean with some simple settings. Please watch the video for the complete tutorial. If you have any question on this tutorial, please leave your comment below.

The comparison note of the two parameters of the Ocean modifier is the key moment of this master class on what a tutorial should look like. Also the comment about the absolute importance of the first and last frame of a looped animation being the same.
Thank you very much!!!
Thank you so much ๐๐ I am extremely happy that you found this tutorial worth a watch!
I don't know why you don't have that many views, but Im happy you do these short simple tutorials. Really helped me a lot. Heck I think you helped a lot of people who just got started with Blender. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you

Awesome
Thank you!
Thank you for this tutorial, very useful. I tried to use the same technique with your previous tutorial "[3.x] All Settings In Ocean Modifier In Blender | Explained With Suitable Examples | Eevee & Cycles", but if foam is added it looks like the first and last frame not are identical. Do you know if it is possible to make an endless ocean loop with foam present? Thanks again for an excellent tutorial.
Thanks for the appreciation. Unfortunately, I could not figure out any technique yet for looping an ocean when foam is added ๐
Amazing tutorials. I'm glad that utube suggested your channel :)
have a small question... Will this final deform animation work if you export this model into the Unity engine? If not - maybe there is a way to bake the final deform animation?
Thank you for the appreciation! Yes, it is possible to export the whole animation for another software like Unity. You need to first enable Lightwave Point Cache from Edit > Preferences > Addons. Then convert the ocean animation data into point cache (mdd file), apply the ocean modifier and import the mdd file. Then you can export the ocean as usual. We're coming up soon with a tutorial on this since it may look little difficult from this textual description.
thank you
You're welcome ๐
Gravity video making tutorial please
amezing
Thank you โค๏ธโค๏ธ
Hey just wanna start off and say the video is very useful and thank very much but how did you make it blue?
Thank you too โค๏ธ For the blue color, you can add a new material for the ocean object and set its color to Blue, plus you should customize some other properties like transmission, specular value etc. to get the watery outlook.
thank you c:
Happy to help ๐๐๐
when i try to export, i only have a blue square and no light on it (i add an uv sphere to have golden reflection on the water). Do you know what can be the pb ? :c tyyy @@5MinutesBlender
@@nana707xxx Please check if the modifiers are applied in the export options. In any case, you can apply the modifiers yourself and export it. Please note that we cannot export the live ocean since we created the animation using modifiers. Modifiers in Blender don't get exported.
I m new subscriber blender foundation Playlist is amazing sir. Thanks for every tutorial.
I have one doubt I want to make two uv sphere object to attract or repel like opposite or same charge ( not particle emitted, it is working) can we assign charge to objects? How much strength should I put ? Is there any rigid body setting? I tried for zero gravity also.
Please help sir only simple two object attration or Repulsion.
As far as I know, charge field works only with charged particles. If you want two simple spheres, you can use two particle systems and keep the number of particles in each system as 1. So you will get only 1 particle emitted from each emitter. These two particles will interact based on the charge assigned to them. I tested this. But since they are particles, they may not follow other expected behaviors like collision etc. However, attraction & repulsion will work correctly. Later you can use a UV sphere to render these particles.
@@5MinutesBlender Thanks sir.
why when I set the first keyframe of the ocean generate to 0 the last keyframe changes to 0 too????
You need to insert a keyframe (you can visualize it like locking a value) when you change the value. You can insert a keyframe by clicking on the switch on the right side of the value, or right-click and choose insert keyframe. When you do that, the value gets locked for that frame. Now you change it on another frame and keyframe it, it will also get locked for that frame. Otherwise simply changing the value would change it for all frames.
What if I want to bake the ocean? Do I need to do this with 2 modifiers?
Hi, the fact is - this trick of looping an ocean is not official. So if you bake the data, the loop does not work anymore. If you are still interested to know how to bake 2 ocean modifiers, I can explain, but it won't loop anymore as I just tested and discovered ๐ So the other way to solve it is to export the ocean modifiers as mdd files (2 mdd files in total), then import those mdd files one after another as shape keys. I did not test this method but it should work since I used it in another similar situation. All the best for you!
I couldn't find how to export the model WITH the animation here. Do you mind telling me how?
This animation is created using modifiers. Blender does not yet support modifiers in the export module. So I think you cannot really export this. You can export a single ocean modifier using mdd format, but this endless loop may not be possible.
How can I change the color ... pls tell
You mean the color of the ocean? You can set a material and change the color of the material just like any other material.
but how to export this as an FBX file with a normal animation?!
I don't think animations that are created through modifiers can be exported from Blender. You need to apply the modifier before you export, so the animation will be lost. The concept of modifier is not the same across various software, so there is limited support in export or import.
i have followed all the steps, but my first and last frame are not the same.. i don't get it
Did you enable foam? This method may not work when foam is enabled. If that is not the case, and you believe that you have set all other things correctly, please send your blend file to 5minblender@gmail.com We will check and get back to you at the very earliest. Thank you!
@@5MinutesBlender i really appreciate that! i didn't have foam on, but I managed to solve it in another way. thanks again!
Glad to know that you resolved it!
@@5MinutesBlender how can i make this method work with foam on? i followed the steps, and the geometry loops right, but i noticed the foam is not looping.. just saw your explanation here. is there a way to make it work with foam on?
โ@@a.p.7383 Unfortunately, I am not aware of any method to loop the ocean with foam. I would myself love to hear from someone if this is at all possible ๐ค๐ค
Can be exported to a game engine?
Yes, if you can export an animation, this should also export. Haven't tried myself though!
If you dont want physics based water that is affected by objects (basically just scenery) then yeah. If you do want physics based water then you just need to import a plane and set up ocean physics in engine.
@@XtremeSk8ter So basically this ocean is just for show and wont act like water?
@@zorosuncle9015
The physics based is separated from the visuals
We can implement the physics entity alongside the visual entity
Why is my ocean white
Probably you have added too much foam. Reduce the foam amount and check if it solves the issues.
how do i export it to unity?
Since this is created using modifiers, I am afraid that we cannot export it. Blender's export system does not yet support modifiers (you have to apply the modifier before you export, so the animation will anyway go).
@@5MinutesBlender i was introduced to alembic and i was able to export with animation thanks for the video i love it
@@zouglou Glad to know that ๐๐๐
You have helped me with so much and now i have a channel about blender so thanks!! Also check it out if You want!!

blows
I tried several times to follow the tutorial, but it is not working.
You can send your blend file to us (5minblender@gmail.com), we will check and get back to you on how to fix it.
@@5MinutesBlender Oh, hey thanks for replying, I had to undo my project entirely, because I could not figure out what it was that was causing my problem, but I followed the tutorial again, and this time it worked, I think I might have just accidently messed something up, because whenever I went to the graph editor after doing everything else, nothing would show up on the graph, but now it is fixed, thanks for tutorial to, it was great.
@@LeahP-zk5qs Glad to know that it worked! ๐
did not work
Can I have a look into your blend file so that I can see what is going wrong?
Too fast
I have tried to learn Blender but I consider it the worst software ever designed bar none! I need an ocean and a sky. It says you can find the sky in preferences! It is not available. When I try other methods I get everything but what a sky needs to look like! Dear programmers of blender: retire please.
Hi mate, I don't know which instructions or which tutorial you followed. But we have created a sky tutorial, you can watch it here ๐ czcams.com/video/Zyxq9goQ8Fk/video.html
It works! Further, if you want a realistic Night Sky, here is that tutorial ๐ czcams.com/video/ShozW1ZGrsA/video.html All the best!
