Huh, I thought Archaon was a worshipper of all the Chaos Gods (I don't read the books I only play the game). I didn't realize he gave the middle finger to the good guys AND the bad guys and just uses the bad guys' powers as a catalyst for his own goals. That's so FUCKING AWESOME!!! I really hope they represent him more in teh third Warhammer game!
The Armour of Morkar was the armour of the first Everchosen, his spirit still possessed it until Archaon donned it. The first Everchosen was around the same time as Sigmar IIRC.
So, GW took revenge from Blizzard ripping off the Warhammer fantasy universe by ripping off the Lich King's Armor?

For the record (and I'm fairly certain of this), Malekith / Malerion and Morathi are much -MUCH - older than Nagash. Nagash learned a good deal about the dark arts from the dark elves, who didn't yet exist when Malekith and Morathi were born. Malekith ran into (and dismissed) cave men level humans when he's a mature adult.
Malekith was Aenerions son, who died during the Great Catastrophe, which happened before Nehekhara was even a thing.
Yes, most of the elven lords are older than Nagash... I do believe that Even Alith Anar and Eltharion are older than Nagash and Arkhan

However Eltharion isn't so old since he rose to power reletivly a few hundred years before the present times

I can see Archeon becoming a new Chaos God. I could also see Slaanesh leave the pantheon permanently and be used by the Aelves like some kind of magic "battery". Possibly using peices of Slaanesh like the Fyreslayers use the Ur gold of there god to empower themselves. Eventually corrupting them and creating a new Aelves faction.

Sorry bud, your theory has already been proven wrong. Yes the Aelven gods have been milking souls from Slaanesh, but (at least with Morathi's) they bear his/her corruption. Slaanesh is otherwise still intact, just imprisoned and "growing bored"
I like the idea of Archaon as a 5th chaos god. He would really suit the title of Malice, the god that basically despises the rest of the gods and wants to just mess with their power and plans

All the other chaos gods are a pure embodiment of various emotional and physical forces, war, hope, corruption, excess, etc. Archaon, on the other hand, is *the pure embodiment of himself.* If you took a moment to consider what that actually means, you'd realize that means that he's the pure embodiment of everything. He doesn't follow the Chaos Gods, *The Chaos Gods Follow Archaon.*

On your 1st point, IMO its great and its cannon that the old world is a "Myth" AoS is all about mythology and alike. So much time has past in AoS compare to old world, so much as change, with so much war, its just a story that the characters (other than a few key ones) dont know if its a tale or truth. Just like Atlantis for us, it seems to be fake, but we dont know, the owrld is such a different place and all we have are the ramblings of a man that told many truths and tales. So i think its still very important to all story moving forward. Just like out history of myths (greek, etc..) are important ot know how the world moved and changed. Cheers!

You have many points of views and many had no idea what really did happen as well as what happened to a large number of the heroes. From the perspective of KO their god abandoned them when really he was helping sigmar as an example.

I only play warhammer total war and I thought archaeon was a total pushover because he totally sucks in the tw game.

To Archaon's credit, he commited suicide when discovered he was the Everchosen, yes, he killed himself to save the World, and that despite going through an awful trauma conga, how many heroes could say they went so far to twart evil? But Chaos cheated and resurrected him, I mean, how absolutely unfair could that be? You are not even allowed to die honorably!
Actually, it was Be'lakor's (his true father) doing that forbade him to die until his deed was complete

I think that was older lore and they changed it to where, while he did discover forbidden book, he denied it until he found out that when asking the Sigmar Pope if he really is the Everchosen, the guy said the everchosen would ask him that question, confirming it really is Archaon, and the other reason he denounced sigmar was because he prayed for help, but no one answered

Im new into warhammer i just bought slave to darkness start collecting. So are the slaves to darkness units for Archeon?
It's a bit tricky for matched games, as he's 700 points, so too expensive to be an ally. But he can be included in a Marked army. Everchosen are just him an Varanguard.
the armor of morkar has its own story 2+ tuff: it was the armor of morkar the first everchosen of chaos who challenged sigmar shortly after sigmar formed the empire (in the sigmar books if i remember right its sigmars friend who prior killed his woman and poisoned him came back as a chaos leader and the rivalry clashed once more
everything in the old world had its own history lol. I was just aiming to keep it brief before i fell down a blackhole of research! Thank you for watching and filling in some of those gaps

Just catching up on this some time after and I know the recent Battletome will have put this out of date anyway - however, I recall from the 5th edition High Elves army book that Morkar was the 'first everchosen' slain by Aenarion during the first invasion of Ulthuan. The 'Champions of Chaos' micro-army book in the same edition also confirmed that Archie went to Ulthuan to recover the armour of Morkar, hence why he wears it. Has anyone found out whether that particular fact has just been forgotten or ignored in modern lore on Archie?
(That said, I also remember that the 5th edition Champions of Chaos book also called Archon's horse something like W'sorych or something like that).

Archeon got me into Chaos! I think he's the most interesting character. A man who said forget the gods who play with mens lives, we make our own fate! It's so cool and very relatable I actually feel for him. Learning your life is a lie and being ignored by the god you swore allegiance to would sour most mens hearts.

where the mortal realms still around in the old world the reason I say this is cause I have read a bit of the end of times and some times it would go on about the realms of magic like when nagash has to go down to fight the previous god of death in the realm of death so what I am getting at were these places already there

Excellent on the lore and explanation on Archaon my friend! My favorite Daemon Beast that Archaon rides on is Dorghar Archaon's monstrous steed because his steed looks so badassly cool and very hardcore too.

I like how Archaon’s Beast is the physical metaphor for Archaon himself.
Archaon beat the Chaos challenges, and receives powers and weapons; Yet, he stays physically unchanged and uncorrupted by the chaos gods.
Whereas Dorghar absorbs chaotic creatures and physically changes, that chaos literally living inside him. He even looks like the chaotic gods (like the chaos gods probably thought would happen to Archaon lol). Yet dispute looking like them, he clearly doesn’t have the boons of the gods.
•I don’t think the following is necessarily true, but for my own head cannon, I like the idea that Archaon somehow passes along the negative physical&emotional effects of the Chaos gods to Dorghar. (Wether Archaon does it with magic, or if he somehow knows that the Beast can absorb crap like that, I think either works.)

So I watched this video and while some of the information is correct some of it is wrong
Archeons goal was never godhood. He wanted to put an end to all the gods because he saw it as the gods manipulating mortals.
The chaos gods did not want him dead, each wanted him to serve them but he would serve none but would take their blessings.
Ending the world was always his goal. He saw what he was doing as a mercy almost. No world, no gods, no more manipulation.
In age of Sigmar he's more like the 5th chaos God from 40k, malice.
You forgot the bit where Grimgore Ironhide kicked him in the balls and headbutted him into unconsciousness.

Hey hey, do you think Archaon was ever like. Oef.. Sigmar neglected me, I turned all evil. My faith was shattered. And then during the end times it comes out that Sigmar was being trapped all along! Do you think Archaon was ever like damn.. I made all this mess but actually sigmar couldn’t reply because he wasn’t able to? Maybe I was to rash...Might he have had some moment of reflection? Now he still wants to beat sigmars ass but sigmar never actually neglected him. I hope I got my lore straight on this one.
If i remember correctly Tzeentch had trapped Sigmar in the Wind of
Heavens to prevent him from messing with the Chaos Gods plans. After
the Vortex on Ulthuan is destroyed the Wind, under Sigmar's direction, enters the body of Emperor Karl Franz after his death. But now that you mention it. I can't seem to find how long Sigmar was trapped anyway. Could have been anytime =S

How were so many Mortals saved from the World-that-Was?
My guess is that the chaos black hole that archaon summoned in the end times must have absorbed all those mortals souls that died in it or near it into an alternate state where sigmar (who was the only survivor) found and rebuilt them when he found the mortal realms, like Nagash and Tyrion were absorbed into the rift while Gelt (now Balthas Arum)and Manfred died near it,

Last night I was awestruck when I came across the model when looking for SLAANESH product on GW online store and then watched the painting video w DUNCAN on WHtv w serious thought to purchase for hefty $165 just to build and paint I don’t have the army for playing with it and so this is so great to stumble upon just hours later the next day and is giving me a sense of destined to be meant to have in that respect for what could be more convincing and now u just said he can be incorporated into my daemons force after all? Thanx for this I am now subscribed and will prob purchase for all this kismet and will be giving this in particular several more listens as I will be painting the model

Are there any records of Beasts of Chaos following Archaon? I know they (typically) don't follow one specific chaos deity and more worship the idea of Chaos as a concept, and they also respect power and might. I'm fairly new to this whole universe but Archaeon from the little amount I know seems to be someone that would be right up their alley?

I wonder about daemon princes a lot as of late. For examples can there be daemon princes for chaos undivided other than the first one. Or do they all still have to be under a chaos god? And is it possible for say a tzeentch daemon price to break free and begin his own religion under him?
It's difficult to say, let's break this down:
1) Yes, there can be undivided chaos princes- Belakor is a great example. In fact, the Daemon Prince Warscroll doesn't force you to choose a god at all, it's an option.
2.) can a tzeentch D. Prince start his own thing? While It hasnt happened yet, consider this: Khorne's favorite Bloodthirster, Skarbrand, tries to kill khorne and usurp his throne. Thats a lot of autonomy and selfish pursuit for a daemon... i image that a human that ascends to daemonhood would have even more free will. So I'd say yes, they can. but they better do it quick and correctly or they'll be a spawn in no time. :)

When you learn any chaos summoner or chaos demons name, you get control of the demon etc.
I read a white dwarf story about a guy who dabbled in magic, who had to go through the chaos gate to get his son after he was taken by a demon of zceech, turned into a ztceech wizard after manipulated the warp into showing the demons name.
(sorry my lore knowledge is absolute trash)

He must have survived entering the rift in the end times and after that, the Chaos gods allowed him to survive and become the Exalted Grand Marshal to allow him to ravage other worlds with his army until he discovers the Mortal Realms

Didn't the Eye of Shieran get shattered by Grimgor Ironhide back in the final battle of the End Times?
It's up there as one of my favorite Warhammer moments, to be honest. Archaon is the very height of his power, marching on the final fortress of Order, and then Grimgor tackles him off his demon horse, headbutts him so hard it breaks Archaon's third eye, and then nearly choked him to death.
Great question! I wasnt around back then much, so a lot of that Old World lore is hard ot track down. Then what is written in say a White Dwarf magazine, may not match up with a book released later. A bit hard to parse it all together XD

Hi I just started collecting age of Sigmar I have buoyed the start collecting box, thunder and hammer box and the smaller box of storm cast eternals and khorne bloodbound and the new moon base battle mat with some scenery (I know the battle mat is 40k but it’s a start to tabletop games) but I don’t know what to do next with age of Sigmar. Can you do a start collecting box review and a follow up after it, please.

It's kind of an abstract thing. Aether-gold seems to be normal gold, imbued with magical power from the Duardin God. As the fyreslayers use it in their weapons and stuff, it uses up that magic power and reverts to regular gold again.

When the Gods were sending champions to fight Archaon, Slaanesh was at that time captured by the Aelven Gods. Still bound, Slaanesh has never had the chance to send a Keeper to battle, die, and be absorbed by Dhorgar.

The problem I have is none of this background is relevant to his current motivations in age of sigmar, since aos takes place so far in the future. GW has yet to talk about what motivates him now. He erected the Varanspire. Why? The varanguard are all super chaos soldiers with an unquestioning loyalty to Archaon. How is that even possible? When the chaos gods tell him they will let him rule all that he conquers in the mortal realm, why bother? As of now he is a nebulous being with no character motivation for what he does. The Archaon we are dealing with in aos acts like a totally different person than the one in fantasy battle.
So much about this was just horribly wrong. Read the Warriors of Chaos army book from 8th edition. It literally covers Archaon's entire rise to power after his discovery of his prophecy, the background of his artifacts, etc.

@@2Tough the lore of Deep is a lore of magic in from the Vampire Coast dlc in Total Warhammer 2, and the lore of ice is a lore of magic that the Queen of Kislev(a Tzarist Russian style kingdom) uses with ice magic

I won't be surprise if he end up killing the other Chaos Gods(3 out of 4) and take their power for himself to claim true godhood since he's only a demigod.
Unfortunately, while Archaon is immensely powerful, i don't think he can challenge the Chaos Gods(yet) and i'm pretty sure he knows it, right now he's just exploting them to gain more blessings and buffs, like a criminal family and the heads are paying the don, and if one of them don't, that specific god's gonna sleep with da fishes see
@Lord Inquisitor Shadowlord ya, but Archaon doesn't think much of or his skaven children. Infact I wouldn't be surprise if he chooses to make a slave out of the Horned Rat instead along with any other chaos power Archaon can find.
