1gal of water into ice, 3 hours. 8 lbs per gallon, 5 gallons x 3 hours per gallon == 40lbs ice in 15 hours. Based on those metrics it's going to do fine.
Thanks for doing the math. I trust it's correct. 😁
For the price point you can't beat it to have a nugget ice maker, i just got one from cotsco as well and love it so far.
Just purchased one of these from Costco a few days ago, finally had time to set it up yesterday. My experience was it didn't take 3 hours to fill up with ice - more like an hour-ish? Granted, it didn't fill the ice basket completely, but I'd say more like half the ice basket. So far, pretty happy with it, but also glad I purchased at Costco too, in case I decide to take it back for some reason. Thank you for your review! This is my first time purchasing an ice maker and wasn't aware that the ice melts if sitting in the basket for some time, but the reservoir catches and recycles the water to make ice again. The ice melting alone was like a "Nope, returning it!" for me, but then I came across your review and compared it to reviews for other popular countertop ice makers that I see on TikTok, and now I know this is just how countertop ice makers are made. Glad I didn't throw down the extra $$$ for the other "popular" ice makers! Plus you get a nicer scoop with this model! 😁
Thank you for watching. I'm pretty happy with mine for the most. Definitely getting it at Costco is the way to go.
Purchased mine from Costco. We like it takes 2 hours to fill the basket. What I don’t like is it takes a gallon of water a day. I’ve not used tap water. Really afraid to. I run it in the am to fill our containers and again late afternoon
Thank you for the very helpful video! We appreciate it and you taking the time to show everyone. We just bought ours. We will give it a go and see if we will keep it, if not good ole Costco we will return it. Cheers!
Glad it was helpful! Gotta love that return policy!
Thank you for this review, it helped me a lot! I just got one and was wondering if mine was broken cause it was taking so long 😂
It definitely gets faster, but that initial full bin took forever.
This Frigidaire gallery nuggetice maker is fantastic for the price point. How about $400 cheaper than the GE opal and to me does just as good a job because a friend of mine has the GE opal. Basically just fell into this one and who cares how long it takes you turn it on at night while you sleep and you got a full bed ice in the morning if you don't like the noise turn it off when you're in the kitchen or watching TV and turn it back on when you're gone. Yes it would have been nice if he would have demonstrated the cleaning feature but it is a simple process the great news is if it quit working Costco takes everything back practically
Do you have to empty the ice or will the ice stay frozen in the bin like my GE opal?
We have had this for a coupl3 weeks now. Sometimes it maked pretty loud motor noises, sounds exactly like a motoriZed can opener. Somtimes the motor quiets down and stops being annoying.
Not sure if this can opener motor sound is normal?
Mine makes the loud motor noise as well… 🤦🏻♀️
@@45aprilmay ya ours does it just some of the time, usuall just after it first turns on and then it will calm down after several minutes of loud motor growling. It's borderline for me. I was about to replace it, then realized I hated the bullet ice makers because of how poorly they store ice.
This gallery ice maker stores ice pretty well and is easy to break apart. I also like nugget ice best. I'd say the gallery ice maker is pretty good, but you have to determine if the sound bothers you enough or not.
What’s the difference between holding the ice button vs just pressing it with one tap?
I just got one and I only have to press it once for the ice to start the process.
There's probably no difference
Looks like a nice counter top I/M, nugget ice is a plus.
I'm starting to like it the more I use it. Thank you again for all your support JD!
The water pipe in the back leaks water and then tells me to add water and there’s no ice just makes noise or ice
Just bought one from Costco yesterday. ~$50 cheaper than the next lowest retailer (Target $249.99).
Do you have to leave that ice button on? I’m wondering if when that bin is full you can just leave the power on and it will keep it cool? Thanks.
I just got one, depends of where you have it. It only keeps cool based on the ice in the bin. It melts and drains to remake additional ice.
Similar question. Am I missing the power button? Does it just always stay on?
The machine is automatic. So it stops working when the ice is full. It doesn't keep it cool. So the ice will melt and recycle back into the water reservoir. Once the ice is low it will automatic turn back on and make ice again.
Can you update on the cleaning process now that you have had it a while? We had the other Frigidaire one and it got so vile so quickly, and was next to impossible to clean. Then it stopped working.
I know what you're talking about. Imagine people who don't realize these need to be cleaned regularly. Yuck! So far I'd say this one is easier to keep clean on the inside. The removable water containers helps a lot.
For the price of that machine, electricity and water.... I can go to Sconic and buy a huge bag of nugget ice once a week for the next 3-4 years.
I didn't know that. How much do they sell bags of ice for?
I personally wouldn’t want to drive to a sonic every week just for ice but to each their own. Don’t forget about the gas used to get to sonic and wear and tear on the vehicle, add that to the bag of ice.
Mine stopped making ice after 2 months..
Mine just quit making ice also had it for a month
@@iB_pOpN I ran through the cleaning process twice and it started making ice again today. Might want to give that another go?
Very noisy loud motor…
NOOOO! Don't water orchids with ice cubes!!!!1!!
