@Jake Heke 0.2 down not 0.02 down. 0.2 is a lot in professional racing. You're ahead of your opponent 2 seconds in 10 laps. I used to start in national karting championship and first 10 people had 0.1 difference.
10 cars, with 10 different engines, aero, and chassis are within seconds of each other. It is literally not possible.

But Valterri can't because he realises from his previous experience at the silver arrows that Lewis is the best bet they have, and he will not be forgiven if he messes up his lap on a track where overtaking is notoriously difficult.

So true. If Ferrari would be able to bake the perfect driver for them, Charles would be the outcome. He is matching 110% there. Emotionally, on the marketing side (he is even modelling for Ferrari, I mean, he is looking good), he has pure talent as a driver, is speaking Italian, he is young and so much more. If Leclerc doesn't bring back success to Maranello, no one will in the next 10 years.

Leclerc got pole, but I think Hamilton got the most out of his car. The improvement from his first run to his second in q3 was enormous.

Timmy51m spot on, Hulk has buckets of talent but little in the way of backing as there are bigger German names around. He would be an excellent acquisition for Red Bull or a truly resurgent and competitive McLaren. He deserves a top drive but he’s never really had one. I think frustration is getting to him as he always used to finish but now he’s getting involved in too many incidents. I could see him in the 2nd Mercedes actually.

In my opinion his lap is better than Leclerc's one, Leclerc had his car out of control, he was lucky this time, but Seb gave me the feeling that he had all under control.
Leclerc did some mistakes and he was 1st... he was quicker... imagine what it could have been without those mistakes...

coming back to this in early 2022. I remember defending ferrari for signing charles in 2018 to my puritan tifoso dad, and i remember watching this season, and man everytime the car has the speed to fight for pole charles finds that last lap in q3 every single time, its astonishing. And this season hes shown that again, I think he will break the pole position record for a single season if the car is quick enough, hes superhuman.
