would have been nice if the review discussed how the lack of a soundboard compared to the nv5s affected the sound

I flirted with the idea of getting this for 6+ months, then sat in front of a C. Bechstein A6. Let's just say that I won't need to buy that car that I was saving for anymore. Hybrids are convenient and have their place but there is something magical about acoustic pianos.

@3:33 the "pull up" notes on the video claim the section starting at 3:33 is the "NV-20S"...lol. AFAIK, there is no 20s...

The first e-piano sound that Patrick played had some bite…. Ted has legendary keyboard skills. Thanks for throwing in a Ray Manzarek impression. I hold to it that a Manzarek impersonation should be a core component of any demo….
Video request… put together an entirely digital jam room. I just added a Yamaha DTX6K3-X electronic drum set to my jam space. I have a Roland FP60X for my piano, and a Neural DSP Quad Cortex for guitars. All of that is run into a digital mixer and into my Mac. I use Yamaha HS8 studio monitors and a KRK 10 inch studio subwoofer for monitoring. Also have a Shure SM58 and a beta 58 for vocal mics. Sounds pretty incredible in the room, but I might add two more HS8 monitors just to fill more space in the room with sound. Plus recording has been foolproof compared to my previous experiences trying to mic guitar amplifiers.
It would be interesting to see a professional music shop throw a bunch of digital equipment together for a digital jam space. It has been great having friends play drums and not have to crank the guitars to be heard and everyone leaving with hearing loss at the end of the night. I feel that non-piano players don’t realize what the world of digital instruments can offer in 2023, and if you made a few videos at different price points you might sell a bunch of equipment to customers who might not realize the capabilities of a completely digital band. All of my friends have been blown away at my setup. I would like to see what you guys might do to put together this type of setup.

Thanks for the detailed video! I wanted to ask how noisy the action is (I mean the mechanical noise) when it is played with headphones. Thank you

Hi Ted and Patric. I would like very much to have your take on the NV10s loudspeakers. I purchased this piano about 4 months ago. I am very happy with the action and with the sound in earphones. but the sound of the loudspeakers is disappointing. It is very hard to describe the sound with words, but I will try. The sound is as if it comes from a deep, distant well. Specific notes are too metalic, others are dull. The loudspeakers sound is foa from being a satisfying experience. Very far from a real grand piano.

I would hope that you actually have some sort of ear damage that makes the in-room sound on that piano anything less than stunning. It’s hard to believe that a digital with that price tag would have any shortcomings.

I am wondering how you could pay for such a high priced instrument without first playing it and assured for yourself that you would actually fall in love with the sound???? Would probably be the worst thing if you had to keep playing something you hate the next 10 years for example. And it would take maybe 10 minutes of playing to know. Am I missing something?

I am pretty sure this is a straight up hoax put here to detract some future buyers from getting the Kawai. I say this because strangely on other videos you could find one guy to say strange things about the best of Kawai has.

It sounds as though you might need a setup for the external speakers, such as where the piano is against the wall, etc and it could be you need the reverb setting for where the piano is, all easily done but can be a bit in-depth. I had to do the same.

And after you did this setup, are you 100% satisfied with the sound you are getting? I am asking because I tried to adjust the setup myself, but the resukts were only margional and did not change the basic problem.
