For the record, the odds of Mike rolling three ones in a row are 1 in 8000.... Only Egbert.
I can only imagine how annoyed all the people in line at the post office behind Corazon and Prudence were.
Customer 1: THEY get cutsy's!? What about us?
Customer 2: Yeah! We've been standin' 'ere for ova an hour!!
Customer 3: Such NERVE! Why, I don't think I've been more insulted in all my life!!!!
I don't have to imagine 😂
Is this why they were going to be hunted?
Probubly as annoyed as I am anyone buys lottery tickets
Poor Egbert, he just keeps looking for atonement in all the wrong places, primarily, with the Oxventurer's Guild.
I'm looking at starting DMing for my group, and honestly Johnny is so encouraging. Other DMs can show you how to narrate or set plot points or do cool combats. Johnny Chiodini is a masterclass in 'What to do when your players go off the rails'.
And that it still leads to a great time.
Merilwen's green dress blending into the greenscreen behind her at 58:46 is what I imagine it would look like when Dob makes Egbert's head invisible
I wonder how soon Johnny gave up on the ‘plan’?
You might think that railroading the players into a dungeon without their gear would have reasonably predictable outcomes, but the oxventurers are ‘special’.
I'd reckon that he gave up on a part of the plan as soon as corazon spent like 8 minutes buying stamps and sending a letter. the rest of the plan went out the window when dob was talking all night
Yes they are special And that's q good thing
I mean, put your players in a prison, they’ll try to escape. Either way, a hunt took place
The fact that Johnny allowed a check to see if fish bones could be fashioned into lockpicks shows the depth of his confidence and preparation, honestly.
He didn't have to make it plausible at all. If he'd set a 20 for improvising a serviceable pick, it would be understandable, or if the bones were too weakened by cooking to work, or a guard insight or interruption check prevented it, or if the 3-deep rolls for material quality (arbitrary, behind screen), crafting (18 or higher, target revealed on use), and picking (15 or higher depending on tool quality) didn't pass...
He could have dodged this derailed train easily in several ways without even looking suspicious , but he took it head-on. Johnny clearly secretly enjoys the chaos.
Nice to know that Egbert ships Dobazon almost as much as we do.
Pastry chef: *goes to sound the alarm*
Merilwen: *kills pastry chef so they wouldn't sound the alarm, basically saving everyone*
Everyone: *gasp* Merilwen how could you
*Meanwhile Prudence, in the confusion, coldly murders the Head Chef after doing the one thing he asks them not to, starting this whole mess*
I absolutely love this sequence of events 😂
Yeah that's the oxventures for ya
"I grin and bear it" was exquisite! 🤣 😗🤌
Unironically I think in this scenario the option for the greater good would be to either kill the people hunting other people for sport, or bringing them to justice. Just escaping would result in another group of victims the next week! Merilwen, as always, was right.

Thank you
How on earth did you keep track of this?
@@monkofbob I found out the dates through the Wayback Machine mostly, if this is what you mean? 😅
@@monkofbob Literally just in the description
@@aearon Just look at the description underneath, much easier!
I love that Mike - the most chaotic neutral man in the world - plays a Paladin so badly. lol
Rewatching this years later.
I just now realized the "Let's let the childeating hag live" thing in the Extinction arc was Dob's karma for this moment.
This time he was the one with silly objections to killing the obviously evil monsters who deserved to die.
The hag time he wanted to kill the obviously evil monster who deserved to die, and everyone else went against him.
Maybe karma does exist.
"He's not equipment, he's my friend" 🤣
I know it's been a while, but Corazon's NPC romantic interest from this one should come back at some point.
Poor merilwen can't get a word in edgewise
I've had customers exactly like 11:42. They make a massive transaction, usually with an unusually large number of lottery tickets, throw down a handful of coins, says they counted before they came in and then walks out. Then I have to spend what feels like an hour but is probably 9not like 2 or 3 minutes counting all their change, making a line of other customers wait.
This is a pretty common one shot trope and from the times ive been able to participate the end is often the same since most groups dont take well to be hunted. Once or twice we let the hunt start then went back and shellacked the town for allowing such evil to exist but those were high level.
Lol the oxventures arnt normal
Nice how the whole crew wanted dob to be on board with the murder in sleep plan lol
I prefer how Luke whined and cried till they did what he wanted to do again.
This will forever be one of my favourite Oxventures of all time.
1:22:08 Phew... for a moment there, I thought they wouldn't get Orbo's hammer through the window.
1:23:09
i can almost feel luke contemplating thunderwave on all of his friends at this very moment
Johnny's style in this one is incredible
19:05 welp the big bad kidnapped them 19:49 the anti oxventures 1:52:44 take her horns
Starts at 0:16
Despite the chaos this adventure kept me laughing. Thank you very much. 😂😂
I gotta say, watching everyone talk over Ellen constantly this episode was incredibly frustrating. Incredible patience and professionalism on her part and willingness to go along with it in the end - I would’ve wanted to walk away for a moment to calm down. 1:30:57
it's just a side effect of having to do it on zoom with varying internet speeds. Ellen's internet has been shown to be not too great at times so she may have just been too delayed for everyone else, like how Mike somehow answers all of their questions a good second or two before they finish their sentence. it's no biggie, just a delay issue.
21:56 Same Merilwen, same
I love everyone in Oxventure a special way but gods sometimes Prudence is just wow 🥳
i was so annoyed at Dob in this episode. 2 of the 4 literally said they would hunt down Corazon No Matter What and he just nopes out :/
On top of it how many times has he ignored what they told him to do? He’s in no position to make demands
The whole part around the hour and five minute mark where he realized the rest of them were willing to bend over backwards to get him on board and he decided to act like it was their consciences instead of him holding up the table was particularly annoying. I genuinely can't tell how much of that was dob and how much was Luke out of character
@@13leafclover86 I would say that's just Luke trying to see how far he can push the others into doing whatever because it makes things more interesting. Doesn't make it any less annoying but it also is a way to pad the run time. They do need to fill in at least an hour and a half and it would not be very entertaining if the party got out of the cell and ran off within the first ten to fifteen minutes.
1:49:26
Just a reminder of where I should watch later
He looks more like guy brush threepwood than corazon
This might be one of the most frustrating adventures to follow.
Uh have you ever even seen one of the oxventures videos
Why?
I don't remember why. I wrote that 9 months ago.
@@spencergwin9454 YESS exactly! It's DnD, social deduction, and storytelling all rolled into 1
Every time I do a rewatch of the series, I have to do this one in two parts. Because Dob is just so exasperating I would have needed to leave the table for a little bit to put up with the bullshit.
I'm glad I'm not the only one
i think dob is by far the least frustrating member of the Oxventure personally. All he wants is to have a good time and generally not murder hobo everything they come across lol
@@sageemerson5074 From an in-story perspective, murdering everyone in their sleep after escaping the dungeon was the smart play - but from a players perspective, it was a very clear derail that would have cut the adventure in half. I believe this is mostly, if not entirely, the reason for Dob's refusal to take part
1:13:56 - Is this a song reference or just a silly joke?
It's a reference to two songs by Sia, Chandelier and Elastic Heart.
There's also a bonus reference to Chandelier at 1:20:50!
@@theceleryman Ah, I thought so. I looked up lyrics to Elastic Heart (Harp) and thought maybe it was a coincidence. It was Chandelier with another song name dropped in.
This episode is completely deranged XD
the high elf. omg the perfect joke upon hearing there is one would have been "high elf? I'll have what they're having" and Corazon should have been the one to say it.
1:05:53
Maybe this is my imagination but I feel when Egbert said that they should pursue any fantasies I feel that prudence and merilwen made eye contact
Everyone being mad at Dob is wild. He just didn't want to murder them in their sleep, it wasn't "no we can't kill them at all". The plan was too cruel for his character to the person playing him.
I know that this is just Luke playing Dob perfectly, but my goodness i hate whenever someone from Dobs backstory shows up.
Everytime its someone elses backstory, it's okay to goofy off, kill people, whatever. But the very second someone he knows shows up Dob tries and acts like he's the most morally aline. Like i get not trying to look like a jerk in front of friends and family, but he always makes me feel like he's embarrassed by the group of people HE chooses to travel with whenever someone he knows shows up.
I know this is Nonsensical but I belive that if you willing to be a killer in someone's elses backstory, then you should have no problem showing that in your own backstory.
