Over the years, Rolex has come to be known for thoughtful design and deliberate reinvention. New models from the Geneva-based brand rarely as radical departures from what came before. This consistency, and tempered evolution have allowed watches like the Daytona, the Submariner, and the Datejust to become true icons of watch design, recognizable the world over.
A side effect of this stalwart reputation is that Rolex often does not get the credit it deserves for creating some incredibly fun watches. There are few better examples of this side of Rolex than the Rolex Milgauss, re-introduced in 2007, and offered with the vibrant “Z-Blue” dial beginning in 2014. Despite their reputation for staid design, Rolex has also shown an impressive talent for the use of color, well represented here through the use of a "Z-Blue" dial, green tinted sapphire crystal, and orange lightning bolt seconds hand.
Originally introduced in 1956, the Milgauss boasted a high degree of anti-magnetism, a true value-add for those working in the eras rapidly growing fields of science and technology. This incredible feature was made possible by the addition of a faraday cage built around the movement. The reference 116400 still makes use of this tool, along with a host of other anti-magnetic advancements, such as a Parachrom-Blu hairspring.
In its Z-Blue dial configuration, the Milgauss measures 40mm in Oystersteel, and comes in at 13.3mm thick, and 49mm from lug-to-lug, making it one of the most modern and wearable watches in the Rolex Collection. The Rolex Milgauss comes equipped with the Caliber 3131 Rolex Manufacture Caliber.

That 35mm Vacheron... yeah that's a watch for me. I love that 47mm Cartier too, Carole Forestier-Kasapi really is a genius, I'd like to see her make it into the AHCI. Glad to see the show back!

Why did the Patek already need a service?
It's either an owner who bought a QP and didn't know about "the rules" for setting them or a complicated new release experiencing teething pains. Either way, it's perfect now with extra warranty added from its factory time. I'm considering this one for myself.

Curious about something pertaining to the Roger Dubuis here. Were the original Perpetual Calendar and PC Chronographs available in a 34mm size too? Also, on a few of the watches here, you seemed to forget to give the official lug to lug measurement…the most important one!
Side-note…the Patek at the end, returning from a service after just one year! What happened?
