The whole plot is literally "Girl drinks an energy drink to win a gaming tournament and ends up in the Fallout universe"
I mean, almost anything can be boiled down to it's bare bones plot if you tried enough. "chinese man eats bat soup and cause people to frantically buy toilet paper for a year"

It's like the recap said 100x slower so the way I see it the drink is a trade off, the amount of time you spent you in slow motion will be deducted from your memory. Since she drank a lot the effects accumulated making time go even slower thus "losing" more memory
Which I get as a side effect of the drug/drink as it speeds up your mind like that so it probably effects your mind permanently with a damage effect that happens over time she probably had episodes over time showing memory lapses but not as severe as her final break snapping back to a point pre the damage.
So the drink does two things? It causes the person to perceive time differently for a short while and it is a time delayed drug that wipes memories? That makes no sense.

For everyone wanting to know, this isn't a movie. This is actually from a television show called 'Dimension 404' an anthology series. The entire video covers only a single episode from the first season and only season.
Funnily enough, the person who narrates the real show was Mark Hamill; the man who played Evan is Matt Lauria, who now stars in 'CSI: Vegas'; and the actress for Val is Lorenza Izzo, who starred in Quentin Tarantino's 'Once Upon a Time In Hollywood'.
I could'nt remember why this was so familiar, so thank you. I kept wondering if it was just some youtube skit or something...

This was such an under rated series, it's on HULU called "Dimension 404". 404 is code tech meaning net not found. And Impulse 9 is a code in the original Quake, responsible for bringing true 3d into the world. It was made by ID software, and is the base of all game engines now of days, minus unreal.

I get that she was late, but given the life or death stakes, it seems absurd that someone would abandon their post with a "my shift is over so it's not my problem" mentality.

Actually this is how real life works. People go years living zombie-like lives only to "wake up" in their 40s or 50s looking back and seeing they did nothing of substance through the years and never actually "lived". I maybe overthinking but my advice:- BE BRAVER, BE BOLDER AND DARE TO LIVE LIFE ON YOUR TERMS. LIVE A LIFE OF FREEDOM.
What you say is true of life but in this movie I think she really wished she could remember the previous years. I think she was trying too hard to be somebody and found herself in the end by fighting for family and community rather than ego and cash. What she suddenly lost was all the little details about the things in front of her and it turned out to be everything.
That's how I felt last year. Like I woke up from 8 years of being painfully unhappy and just existing. Have made a lot of changes over the last year and am working toward achieving the goals I have dreamed of instead of just dreaming about them. Unfortunately everything takes time. It's not like a movie when you can just have a montage and be at your goal.
