    To retain more heat, and to keep the temperature more consistent in the toaster oven, lay unglazed ceramic tiles on the oven rack or bottom. Pre-heat it well and it should work better for you.

    This was a great tutorial. We learn from our mistakes...and in this instance, we all got to learn from yours. Thank you so much for teaching us, and letting us learn from your mistakes. It is very generous of you. BTW, I think the first mug turned out very well. I am wondering why that one letter blurred a bit. I wonder if it would be improved by leaving it to cool? Will you redo that design to see?
    I really appreciate your sharing your video of what you purchased to get started with sublimation. I just don't have $1000 to purchase a printer, plus a couple of hundred for a mug press. I can't wait to watch more of your sublimating videos. Right now I have a cutting machine and a heat press, but I have been doing it mostly as just a hobby. I cannot justify spending large amounts of money on it. I really want to do sublimation though so this setup would be great. I did see someone using shrink wrap and a heat gun to hold the sublimation paper on. The heat gun was just for the shrink wrap and then it was placed in a convection oven.

      Hi LJ! Thank you so much for checking out my channel! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos! It’s definitely something that takes practice. I will for sure try the designs again now that I’ve been doing it for a few months to see the improvement. I’ll share more things I’ve learned that work and things that didn’t work as well!!
      The budget set up is the way to go (in my opinion) and the fact that you already have a heat press is awesome! You’re basically halfway there already! Two years ago I was so hesitant to buy a Cricut because I didn’t want to spend money on big items like that, but it paid for itself in the very first month so it was a great investment. The sublimation is going the same way so far! Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself and your future business! Just be prepared to go through a period of trial and error first! I hope you have an awesome day!! 😁💜

    • @TheFoiledPlan
      @TheFoiledPlan  Před 3 lety +4

      Hi Liz!! Thanks so much for checking out my video!! That’s so exciting!!! The reason I originally bought the oven, was so that in time I could do different sized and shaped mugs and bottles. Now having said that, I ended up purchasing a press at the beginning of the holiday season to help with production time and consistency. Oven can take about 14 minutes, versus 3 minutes in a press.
      I haven’t used my oven since because I haven’t used any different sized/shaped mugs LOL! It’s nice to know I have the option in the future but looking back, I probably would have just bought the press to start! Totally depends on what you plan to make but I hope this helps!!

      Hi Arif! I think you should contact the company you bought it from because with any heat presses or mug presses you do need to preheat them before pressing the mug so that shouldn’t have caused any issues for you. If your press is smoking that’s not good! Contact the seller and tell them it smoked then stopped working, maybe they can replace it!

      Hi Jennifer! Convection moves the air around differently. The process of sublimation emits gasses, so you would never want to use the appliance to make food in afterwards. Lots of people have success using an air fryer which is basically just a well marketed convection oven, but in any case, just make sure you don’t cook food in it after you’ve used it for sublimation :)

      @@TheFoiledPlan I have a question 🙋🏼‍♀️ I have a small pic to sublimate on a sub tumbler, I have the string wrap too. Since the photo is not a full wrap do I use parchment paper over pic and around entire cup to cover everything? And I planned on doing epoxy on it too, can they be epoxied over?
      What temp should oven or convection oven be on and for how long on a skinny

    Hello from California! Did you have to set up an ICC profile or something to get the colors to correctly print with the sub ink?

      Hi Jasmine!! Is everything printing okay and just not transferring to your mug? Have you made sure to purchase a mug that was coated for sublimation? That could be the issue!!
