It’s just the fact that the arena itself was designed to kill Katniss almost immediately given that her being from district 12 she shouldn’t even know how to swim. Her father taught her in secret and in the books peeta literally almost drowned instantly but was saved due to the alliance’s.
Maybe when she was hunting for her District one time, she found a nearby lake and learned how to swim as well as fish.

You could say that about all the victors minus district 4 tbh, however every tributes belt has a floating device in it so even if she couldn’t swim she probably wouldn’t have jumped in straight away they know she’s not stupid and she would’ve saw what others did if Beetee was near by and do the same thing. I think rather than to kill Katniss straight away, I think it was also to give careers an advantage. Since people like finnick can swim and there was a trident he could get.

The poison thing wouldn't have worked, because as we find out in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Snow made himself immune to many poisons, including that one and that is why he has mouth soars.
It’s also said at the end of the third book and movie, but it’s more vague.

I want to clear things up for anyone that haven't read the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. There actually wasn't any hiding spot Katnis and Gale had outside the Fence Snow wasn't aware of. He knew about the whole in the fence and about people of District 12 using it to hunt and gather outside the fence illegally. For reasons you ahve to find out in the book, Snow was once a peacekeeper for Destrict 12 and someone he was close too that lived their showed him how to escape the fence and all her hiding areas which just so happen where Katniss and Gale often go. Why Snow didn't do anything about it sooner after leaving district 12 is unknown.
I thought I clear this up before I see this video because I'm sure there are some advice in how to sneak out and hide in order to escape in this video.
I remember the fact very well because my jaw might as well have dropped when I realize that while reading the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Anyways I wanted to make clear because the first two books brought all these discussions between Katniss and gale and all their usual spots as though they knew all the secrets of the woods they can use to escape, and then you read the Ballad and it reveals that Snow knew all those areas before those two were even born, he just for some reason didn’t do anything about it until catching fire and that was just to keep Katnis in check
I think the only reason Gale manage to get so many out of District 12 before the bombing is because Snow let them to make sure Katniss got the message of what her rebellious nature got her. Because snow is no idiot. He would of realize cutting the power to district 12 would give some a chance to cut a new hole in the fence and escape before the bombing and could have send Peacekeepers out in the woods to kill any that escaped or at least capture them to interrogate.
Why not just watch the video first.
I think the guy who does these types of videos just focuses on the movie he's going through to keep it simple for everyone and himself.
Snow isn't angry that Katniss revealed there were poison berries in the arena and District 12 isn't a symbol of rebellion just because it's D12 who won. Snow's angry that Katniss manipulated the gamemakers into letting her and Peeta live by pretending to kill themselves with the poison berries. It makes them look stupid for being manipulated by a child. Katniss is a symbol of rebellion because (to paraphrase from the book) if a girl from D12 of all places can stand up to the Captiol, what's stopping them from doing the same?
Quarter Quells are a "random" card where you have a game with a twist. Haymitch's twist was having twice the number of tributes as usual. The 75th is that the pool of existing victors is used for tributes. We never find out the 25th. Either Snow lied about what was on the card because he wants to quash rebellion by demoralising the districts through killing their victors (and puts down potential rebel leaders), or he knows in advance what's written on the cards and picked it for that reason.
The first quarter quell's twist is that the champions are chosen by the people of the district. They voted for who went into the game

Only those cards aren’t random. Somebody in this comment section explained that each quarter quell out of three has a metaphorical reason, like, the first quarter quell reminds us that districts CHOSE to start a war against Capitol and now, as a punishment and a lesson they have to CHOOSE their contestants themselves. The second quarter quell signifies that in the war the districts lost TWICE as many soldiers so now they have to sacrifice DOUBLE the quantity of contestants. And the thirds one reminds that EVEN THE STRONGEST COULDN’T OVERTHROW THE CAPITOL, so THE VICTORS, the best of the best are picked to fight and fall in the games. Nothing about it is random.

If she killed the district 1 victors during training, the capitol would have retaliated and killed her mom, sister, and Gale if not her. They don’t just let stuff slide because “oh well that wasn’t supposed to happen”. They WILL punish her

The quarter quell is to represent the Dark Days (the war between the Districts and the Capitol)
1st Quarter Quell = The Districts chose to *start the war* (Districts must vote for their tributes)
2nd Quarter Quell = They *lost twice* the Soldiers (Twice the amount of tributes)
3rd Quarter Quell = The *Strongest* can't overpower the Capitol (The victors are to be reaped)
I think, regarding the 1st quarter quell, the word “Chose” should be highlighted, as they CHOSE to start the war now they have to PICK their tributes(so it makes clear which twisted lesson the capitol wants to teach them with this specific type of quarter quell).
It makes me think what the 4th Quarter Quell (100 Years) would have been. Ig we'll never know lmao.

2:28 - The main problem with this is that Katniss’ only goal was to keep her sister alive… of course she was unhappy with Snow and the government but she by no means actually intended on sparking a revolution. By killing Snow and inevitably getting herself and her family killed, she would have failed to protect her sister which was truly the only thing she cared about. Even though Katniss is the heroine of the trilogy I would argue that her motivations are completely unconventional compared to other characters of the same trope… she didn’t have a hero complex, didn’t dream of dismantling the oppressive institution that is Panem’s government, and didn’t even want to be the Mockingjay. Her goal was to simply keep her loved ones alive, almost every event that propelled the revolution forward after her initial catalyst wasn’t even orchestrated by her.
I think your analysis is accurate. I've seen criticisms of her character claiming that she "went from being a badass to just settling down and being a mom, even though she was childfree originally" and "just ruined the character by giving her such a meaningless and bland ending".
No, the author gave her the ending her character always wanted. Katniss never said she didn't want to have a family, she said she didn't want to bring kids into such an awful world. Once the world changed, she could safely have and raise children. She was never a 'badass', she was a kid that had been through trauma, starvation, and abuse long before she entered the hunger games.
Katniss never wanted to be a leader or a hero, she just wanted a quiet, happy life. From the very start, that's what she wanted.

Katniss was expecting attention from the Capitol as the camera crews moved in, but she had no way of knowing the president himself would show up before the Victory tour. She can't make cookies in advance. Next, if the president died in her house, they wouldn't have to trace it back to her. The killer would be obvious. Even if it weren't obvious, Her house is in the Victor's village, a neighborhood with 3 inhabitants. That's very few suspects to distract an investigation if they bother to investigate instead of arresting her on the spot. When Snow doesn't leave Katniss' home in a reasonable time, peacekeepers would notice and Katniss would be dead before she got out of the Victor's village, let alone the district. The replacement president could throw Prim in the arena for good measure.
Three victors AND Peeta and Katniss's families (his mom and dad and his two older brothers; her mom and younger sister Prim). So, seven.
This, plus an ongoing plot point is that Snow made his way to the top by making liberal use of poison. the constant bleeding from his mouth we see the entire series is due to "sores in his mouth that will never heal" due to essentially microdosing on poison his entire political life, in order to poison his rivals without arousing suspicion. This is all to say that poisoning him may not even work due to 1. His experience poisoning others would probably make him wary of it happening to him and 2. He may have built up a tolerance to any poison used on him, at least enough for him to survive until he could get to a doctor.

The idea that a paranoid dictator like Snow wouldn't anticipate one of the oldest assassination tricks in the book is silly. But, on the other hand, so is the explanation in the book that he took micro-doses of various poisons to make himself immune. Setting aside the facts that that is both extremely dangerous AND doesn't work against all poisons, having a taste tester is a much simpler and more effective countermeasure.

He has a high tolerance for it due to all the assassinations he has pulled by drinking the same poison as his visitor. Its why he spits up blood, from all the sores in his throat. That s not accurate. He always takes the antidote after he drinks the poison to make sure he s not suspicious. The fact he has those wounds in his mouth is the effect of the poisons

I think with the mandrills/baboons playing submissive might not have worked as they all looked male it’s potentially likely that they are trained to just attack humans on sight but only stay to their assigned area of the arena

How to beat the Hunger Games: *eat a big lunch*
If they were truly going to play the baby angle properly, then they should have used a drink shown earlier in the movie that I call "puke juice" (we weren't given the actual name of the drink). Direct quote from the person describing said drink: "It makes you sick, so you can go on eating.". Katniss could have used this drink to simulate morning sickness if they were on camera, being careful to drink the puke juice in secret and right after she eats.
It wouldn’t ’ve have mattered to do all that, peeta just came up with it after that to get her off the games and then it didn’t work. Finnick did excuse some of her behaviour book wise on pregnancy though when she’d get emotional, he’d bring that up
Great video, but honestly, you have to read the book to understand Katniss’s intentions and her feelings towards the other tributes, as well as how the other tributes feel towards her.
Watching Katniss truly fall for peta and actually care for him especially at the end was the best part for me. Watching them grow together was my favorite.
That was actually the worst part for me. Katniss and Gale were friends way longer. The only interaction she had with Peeta was that he gave her stale bread. To survive the first hunger games they fake a romance, and then they fake a relationship and fake a baby. Everything is built on lies to get advantages and survive the games. It was so a weird but preditable turn for her to fall in love with him instead of Gale
The thing with this entire series is that you can’t just do whatever, like in other franchises that take place in a more modern world. If you step out of line, even if the line is blurry, they WILL kill you or worse. I think that’s why it’s so hard to beat, anyway.
The true reasoning for Katniss and Peeta being separated was because Peeta would be too loud and slow because of his prosthetic leg from the last book so it was a decent reason to separate them in that moment

25:00 the issue is that these Baboons probably aren’t normal ones. Most of the animals in the arena were modified to kill more tributes. We see that in the first movie with those Tracker Jackers and the dogs.

This is crazy, I was watching Hunger games videos for this entire week. I was just randomly in the mood for hunger games, I even watched his first Hunger Games video two days ago. Then lo and behold... he makes the number 2. Damn that's crazy
I still remember the advice on how to beat the first hunger games: don't volunteer as tribute!
Okay, but here’s my issue with your “attack one of the victors in the training area” idea.
1. The first time someone tried to start a fight with another tribute, even before it got physical, peacekeepers immediately rushed in.
2. That would more than definitely negatively affect your score in some way, seeing as the gamemakers love to make it harder for the tributes in any way they can (ie, later on in the games.)
3. Doing so would definitely negatively affect your reputation with sponsors, who you would WANT to keep by your side. Doing so would make you less likable, and as we’ve seen, sponsors are all about sending aid to tributes they like.
There are some errors, some of them are explained in the books, like the fact that they actually study the precious games and the fact that they can’t hurt other tributes before the games

This is literally my favourite movie!! And book tbh
If I was in this specific hunger games, I’d also study my contenders last hunger games, and do whatever I can to make myself stand out as a likeable candidate. Since in this senerio, chances are im the youngest tribute, and as also being the youngest sibling in my family, I know it can go places. Once I’m in training I’d go up to each tribute and offer to teach my skills which consist of, a form for throwing an effective punch, disarm an opponent that uses a blade like a sword or knife, how to purify dirty water into being drinkable, and traversing sandy terrains. I’d start with tributes that have versatile skills, like 3 for their electrical and technical knowledge, any career district for their fighting skills specifically 4 for reasons I’ll state later, 11 for their knowledge of edible plant life and avoiding poisoning myself, and 12 for handling long term feelings of hunger.
Making these deals with whichever tributes can help me gain their trust which could make me , and help my chances of survival by getting new skills. And the reason I’d want district 4 for my choice of career, is that they have the most survival skills to offer me, and their (in my opinion) the weakest career district, so chances are if it was me and the careers left, my allies would most likely be dead which simplifies what I have to do since I won’t feel as much that could hold me back. If I don’t get district 4’s teaching, I’d then try to do district 2 for their weapon and combat knowledge, and then 1.
If I can’t get any of my preferred picks, I’ll go for whatever other district I can get, if I don’t get any ( or have time leftover after the skill trading) I’d focus on refining my skills. Once the actual game starts, I’d avoid the cornucopia at first since that’s where most people die, and I’d try to grab something small at the edge (if they are there) and find a safe place and then get some water
Once I do that, I’d try to find food and maybe form an alliance with someone i befriended, then I’ll remain very observant of my surroundings to avoid traps or death animals.
If I do get an alliance, I won’t let it last to long unless it’s with the careers thanks to them being able to carry me to at least late into the game. I’ll avoid killing the weaker players unless I have to since that’d be boring entertainment since it’s predictable and could discourage me from getting outside sponsers help. To help with my likeable plan, I’d give whoever I kill a proper burial and some flowers.
I’ll play like this till late game, and if I’m in the career alliance, I’d end it on a respectable note, all the while keeping an eye out to take em out without putting myself in to much trouble. Afterwards I’d stay on top of the cornucopia but probably since it’d be a safer place, and I could see incoming threats and opportunities from a safer area, only leaving if an extreme threat I can’t handle is approaching, or I need to make a quick supply run to get food or water
If I don’t have a career alliance, I’d stick to the high ground until late game, only coming down to escape threats, or get resources. I’ll only kill if I have to, or I can take out careers, and then do my cornucopia strategy. If I see any good chance to kill a tribute, I’ll take it. Once it’s just me and one or two players left, I’d make killing them my number 1 priority, but not without disregarding my safety for the most part.
And that is how I’d win the hunger games

I noticed that you said Katniss should cut the tracker out of their arm but it also lets the drones come and give them sponsor gifts so it is a invaluable asset because if Katniss even gets a minor infection it could be the end without sponsor gifts.

Great video but the quarter quells are not veteran picks always, there’s been 3, 25th, 50th, and of course the 75th (this one), the first quarter quell was never revealed but the 50th QQ was double the amount of the participants, instead of 2 from each district it was 4, (which Haymitch actually won) the 75th was veteran winners. The only reason it even happened was because Katnis won the year before, if she didn’t, this QQ would’ve been different as there would not have been a female winner from 12. You can even see in deleted scenes that the game maker burned the original QQ idea and made the new one which was the veterans. Each QQ is different.
i believe the 25th was revealed that the tributes were voted on opposed to it being random

They actually had all of the quarter quells planned when the games were created. I do believe they created a card for each quarter quell stating the special circumstances for each. They made 80 of them. So this had nothing to do with katniss and the berries. It was already planned in the very beginning

One reason Katniss couldnt just run away into the forest. And it only dawned on me after reading Ballad. The place that Katniss wouldve wanted to run away to is that cabin deep in the woods. The same cabin that Lucy Gray and the Covey had gone to many times. The same cabin that Snow and Lucy stayed in when they briefly ran away from 12. Snow knows where that cabin is. It stands to reason that if Katniss were to escape from 12 and hide in the woods, that would be the first place she'd go. And that would more than likely be one of, if not the very first place Snow would look for her. So really, its good that she didn't run. Because if she did, then she'd be dead for sure.

He probably wouldn’t have, the movies don’t show it but after the announcement of the quell Peeta goes into full personal trainer mode and forces them all to get healthy and train to get physically fit and be like careers. Haymitch alcoholism is very downplayed in the movies but Haymitch was doing terribly during the training, he was very weak and couldn’t do much and would constantly be shaking from withdrawals. It wouldn’t be cool to see but he is a lot better in the mentor position

The thing would be to make a secret agreement with the other tributes not to kill each other AT ALL. That would either force the capitol to murder everyone, thus symbolically declare war on all other districts, or let them go.
It wouldn’t work. The capitol would force them to kill each other by otherwise killing their loved ones
